- John Q Public| 1 reply800-678-7986 I believe they are subcontracted to Wells Fargo they work on a commision base of how much they collect. I think it is a boiler room style with multiple people who just sit on the desk of an auto dialer.

- Tedc WI was getting calls several times a day while not home by this number. Saw on my call log. Called them and had my number removed from their list. I just got a new number and apparently whom ever had the number before me had a loan with them. DO NOT EVER TYPE YOUR FULL SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER FOR VERIFICATION ON THE PHONE!.
They still seemed fishy to me though, first person hung up on me when I questioned why calling, the 2nd time called they the person said would check and next thing I know I went back to que and got a whole new person asking all the same questions like a new call came in.- Caller: Wells Fargo MAybe
- WF customerIt is Wells Fargo Home Mortgage Collections/Loss Mitigation Department. The phone number is printed on the backside of my monthly statement. Not a scam. However, I do NOT make a payment over the phone to any incoming call made to me just to always be 100% safe!
- danny replies to cindybit's wells fargo calling your house, they always call my house everyday and it's annoying. their caller id is disguised as 800 sercive

- Beth| 2 repliesI have a mortgage with Wells Fargo. I'm one month behind on my payments. I'm wondering if loss mitigation is trying to get in touch with me. They keep calling me and not leaving a message if I don't answer, and when I DO answer, there is no one on the other end of the line. I'd try to call back, but I have no idea (as far as a person) who is calling, and I'd look pretty stupid calling and having to say I'm returning a call from "somebody."
- Caller: Wells Fargo
- Beth replies to danny651They call me, too, but the name comes up as Wells Fargo Bank. What I don't get is why they won't leave a message. They keep hanging up on my machine. And when I DO answer, no one is there.
- Beth replies to KatNo one is ever there when I answer, #1. And #2, I've gotten calls from machines (other businesses) and it leaves a message, usually a phone number to call.
- RonThis is a scam of some sort and I'm not going to call them back. They do leave a message occasionally asking me to call them about my Wells Fargo mortgage. I have NEVER done business with Wells Fargo. I have NEVER talked to them in my 40 plus years as a home owner and my mortgage has not been sold. This may not be Wells Fargo callinig.
- Caller: No Call ID, Just number
- RonI just posted and got another call already. Google Wells Fargo Scams. There is a lot of information.
Wells Fargo warns of new scam, urges customers - Salt Lake Tribune

- IrisThis number has been calling me every weekday, but I don't understand why. I have checking and savings accounts with them, along with my credit card. I used to have my student loan with them until it got transferred to another company. I was recently in contact with someone from their Home Mortgage department about applying for a loan, but we stopped the process. We DO not have a home loan with them, so there's no reason for them to call to collect a debt. Very weird.
- Paul S.This is indeed a Wells-Fargo #. I called the # and in formed them that the # that they called was a business that did not have a loan with them and to please remove my # from their call list. I was informed that the # would be removed within 24 hrs.. VERY ANNOYING TO RUSH FROM JOB TO ANSWER THE CALL!!!!

- IrisThey called again yesterday, and I finally got to pick it up. They asked for some lady who has a name not even close to mine...our last names start with the same two letters. I told them "No, wrong number." They left a voicemail while I was at lunch today, so I decided to call back. An automated message asks me to enter my last 4 of my SSN, which I was NOT about to do since I still thought it might be a scam. It finally transferred me to a representative, and I gave my name and said I did not have a home loan with them, so they need to stop calling me. They asked for my phone number, and they said they would make a note, so the calls should stop. So in my case, it's a legitimate number...they just somehow had my number for this lady who isn't paying her bills. Just FYI!

- RoseI keep getting this number on caller Id the problem here is that they start calling before the 15th. Even if you are not late.
- Joe replies to JSome one named "Joanne" left a message on my work voicemail. Saying, "this is in regards to your mortgage with Wells Fargo...blahblah...this is an attempt to collect a debt...call the 800-678-7986". I then saw several attempted calls after that and just ignored them.
I finallly called the 800 number, which is legit. I explained that I do not have a Wells Fargo loan, unless someone has taken my identity.
She apologized and said they must have had a wrong number. I asked her "why the heck would you leave a message like that on someone's recorder, without talking in person to them?" She again apologized and said they would remove my number. I asked "how did you get this number?", she said she didn't know and again apoligized.
Geez..what a corporation. Now, I feel like I must go check my credit record and make sure someone has not taken my identity. I was not about to give this customer rep my social number or anything like that to double check.
What idiots they are... - UMM replies to Beth| 1 replyLook on your statement and call that number to talk to a real Wells Fargo representative. They will be happy to answer your question or go up to the nearest Wells Fargo to you if you have one and meet person to person.
- JohnYep, it's WF alright (either directly or as a debt colelctor).
We recently closed on a re-fi last week. But, since we have 3 days to change our minds on the new loan, it is 2 days past the 16th (and they haven't been paid yet) and boy, are they calling! I called them back last night and I was really snotty to them, saying I re-fi'd, didn't have business with them any longer, and I would ignore all calls from them. The lady was speechless...LOL! I even installed an app on my cell phone which blocks all incoming numbers NOT in my contact list.- Caller: Wells Fargo
