these guys are calling me about my freind who owes his bank like 50 dollars who gave my number on an application ive told them its the wrong number at least 50-60 times now i just cuss the hell out these [***] i love when they call, good stress reliever. "I cant understand you [***]"

I've been getting calls from this number for at least a month, I either hang up or let the machine pick up.  It is a recording saying that they "have an important phone call for me" and give a number (an 866 one I think) to call back.  They never identify themselves nor whom they are calling for.  I figure if they cannot identify who they are and what they want, they don't deserve a phone call back.  I tried to block the number, but it didn't work.  I guess you can't block 800 numbers.

This company, "Bay Area Credit Services", started calling me about 11 days ago. When you answer the phone, there is dead air for several seconds...that's enough time for me to hang up, knowing it's either a telemarketer, or a scam.

I found this site, and now realize these people are just criminals.

A friend of mine owns a legitimate collection agency, and she told me these people are crooks, and they call people at random, intimidate them into sending money, playing the odds that a percentage of people they actually contact, do in fact owe past debts, and are scared into sending the money to this scam.

But the owner of this company is clearly a con artist and a criminal, according to this web site:

Call your phone company, and initiate a criminal investigation if they keep calling you after you have called them and told them to stop calling.

For Qwest, what you do is right after these people call, hang up, dial "*57". You have to do this 3 times. After the third time, Qwest will hand it over to their legal dept and threaten Bay Area Credit with legal action if they continue to call you.

Make sure you log each call...keep a note pad next to your phone, so you can document each call.

The criminal who is running this collection agency is Richard B. Hunter, who is using a firm in India to make and take these calls.

Whatever you do, DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE.

I have contacted the FCC, and am filing a criminal complaint against Richard B. Hunter, if I get one more call from these [***]. Guess what, Mr. Hunter...I have A PERFECT CREDIT HISTORY WITH ALL 3 AGENCIES, WHICH WILL PROVE YOU TO BE A FRAUD.

I've started getting phone calls from these people a couple days ago. Finally, I answered and some lady answered asking for me about my bill for ambulance services. I did in fact had an ambulance ride with my accident a couple months ago, and I was concerned that it was bill that I forgot to pay. They asked for my insurance information as well as my address.  I gave it to them by accident. Then, they proceeded on giving me a number for AMR (American Medical Response) along with a reference number to verify information. Now I'm scared that I've been scammed and they might abuse my information for other means.  I dunno what should I do.  I wanna report this to the authorities and possibly the FBI.

these ppl are violating the FDCPA set forth to protect debtors. they have called my number several times a day ever several weeks. I OWE THEM NOTHING! IF this continues I have no problem takeing them to court and getting compensation for harassment.

These people keep calling us too. They are trying to collect on a bad credit card debt that is over 12 years old and not even on my credit report anymore. They are not my original creditor, but a lame collection agency. And it's always the same guy with the accent. They are a scam as this debt is long gone and written off my credit reports. They are trying to get me to pay $3000.00 on a secured creditcard that I had charged $200.00 on when I was a kid. I told them theres no way I'm paying you guys anything and hung up.

I am starting to recieve calls from this phone number constantly.  I've already told them they have the wrong number and to take my number of their list and all they do is hang up on me. These people call either real early in the morning or late in the evening.  I've called back and even cussed them out and threatened to report them and they still keep calling. And the people that answer aren't very pleasant and have an Indian accent.

I just received a call on my cell phone showing this number.  I called them back and they asked for someone I don't know.  I said you have the wrong number and they kept asking if I knew this person, have I ever heard of them before, and how did I know them.  I asked if this could possible be an identity theft issue and he hung up!

These people call several times a day. I thought it was a solicitor so never picked up, and they never left a message. Once when I decided to find out who it was they asked for someone who didn't live here. When I asked how they got my number they hung up. So many posts with the same story. Wonder what the deal is?

I have been getting calls a couple of times a day for the past week from 800-697-1234. They refuse to identify themselves or their company or reason for calling ("it's a business matter") except for a first name and keep asking me to verify my name and if I do then follow with a "you owe xxx for yyyy (ambulance $3000!!, att bill $450, etc.) all bogus charges/debts. One woman, "Nancy" was obviously Indian.

I almost gave these guys my credit card information for an ambulance ride in 2004, but got hung up on. Is it a scam?

Just received a phone call from this number not even a few minutes ago. But wasn't sure as to who it was. Found this page and i'm kind of glad I didn't pick up. A woman left a voicemail for me saying she was from the America Medical Response Company concerning an ambulance ride I took, keep in mind I just got in a car accident/took a ambulance ride not even 8 days ago. They left me another number to call 1(800) 267-5365. If they call again i'll be sure to update.

Out of the blue 1-800-687-1234 calls.  I ignored it, but then I have a voice mail appear that has a foreign sounding woman leaving a message for Mark G Peterson.  Please call back regarding an important business matter.  Unfortunately, I could not understand the call back number. Could this be one of those scams that counts on your greed to call back?

This place keeps calling my home phone regarding a "personal business matter" for my husbands mother.  She has been in a nursing home for almost 8 years and can't handle her own basic care yet alone a "personal business matter".  I was polite the first time they called and gave me the run around, I told them this was her sons home and that his sister has power of attorney.  I gave him her number.  End of story...NOT! They call daily and each time its someone who can barely speak english, and are not very bright.  I have gotten to the point that I am being very rude now.  I have to answer so that the ringing phone won't wake my 8 week old baby up! After little sleep last night, I again got a call early this morning around 7am.  I told the woman that I have explained this for the last f'in time!! I told her if they called me back I would press charges for stalking or whatever I could!! She just sat there.  Finally I said do you understand??!! She said thank you very much and hung up! Now I'm even more ticked off!! I did a search and found this site! I don't know how to make them stop!!
