I can confirm what most people have been saying here.
They are a scam. They will continue to call you, and it's near impossible to get anyone to take you off their list.
They have been calling me on a daily basis for about 2 months now.
Right when this started, I received a call from a person (not the machine).
In a very harsh Indian accent, saying he was from Bay Services.
He had one of my old addresses, and insisted I had an old AT&T phone bill of $34 that needed to be paid. I kept telling him to send me something that can verify this, and all he could do was repeat that he needed to paid now, and that they have already sent hundreds of letters. He continued to aggressively try to obtain my credit card number or bank routing information, until I hung after declaring it a scam.

This number:800-697-1234 has been calling my home for months, at least once daily but different times.  I rejected the number on my caller ID, so the phone rings once and the call is cut off.  Still, it is annoying so recently I called the number back, to tell them to buzz off.  My call was answered by a rude man with a heavy foreign accent who hung up on me.  From reading the comments of others, I understand this is a collection company...and I don't have any debts!  Perhaps I need to call my state's attorney general or my local ABC TV channel which advertizes to help solve problems.  At any rate, it's good to have some information and that I have plenty of company!

This is the number that, by far, calls me the most, and at really late and early hours. I never answer it, though.

Rest assured these guys are goin down real soon.  My Insurance company, the ambulance company that transported me in an emergency, the Mercury News Action Line, the Better Business Bureau and the San Jose Police Department are working on these guys--this time they slipped up real bad and they are goin down.  Read Action Line column by Dennis Rockstroh, Mercury News Aug 3, 2008.  Apparently there is a class action suit which allows victims to sue and recieve as much as $500,000 in penalties for not adhering to the Fair Debt Collection clause under Federal Law.  So, are you guys gonna take this abuse or would you like to get on board and sue them?  Money talks!  Would you like to get on board and take these guys out once and for all?

Hope this HELPS ....Call them and leave them a nasty Phone message or even better leave them a dirty email this place is a scam. I have my attorney already looking into them for some other legal matters.

I've been reading all the comments on here. I recently had a call from them.  At first we didnt' answered, but curosity got the best of me.  I called it back.  I told the guy with the indian accent that someone just called from here.  He said my name, that much i understood.  He also said something like the clock is ticking? I don't know what that means.  I'm very worried.  It can mean a varible of things.  Really scared. Is it a threat of some kind?  Let me know what you guys think.

Regarding phone calls from 1 800 697 1234.
I have decided to answer them in a Indian accent and tell them that they have reached Haji's carryout and I am busy changing the expiration dates on my produce and butchering a cow and cannot be bothered.
I will them proceed playing a recording of a woman having an orgasm.
At least I will have some fun at their expense and not mine.

I am from n. ca  I get these calls often, so aggravating, I will not answer. I have id and answering machine, they make it sound like it is important, ha Looks like they would give up, but they don't. I have always paid my bills for 48 years now I am getting ripped off on my phone bill also. 3rd party charges and I did not make any charges to my phone bill, I understand it is called cramming. Trying to get that resolved also, what a scam and headache, What happened to the good old honest people days? I am afraid they are loooooong gone forever. How can we handle all this.

I did not recieve a call but I did receive a letter.Bay Area Credit Service is tied in with Merchant's Credit Guide. I had written a letter to merhcant's 2 years ago and they have sold the bogus claim to Bay Area.These ppl are relentless.Watch 4 either company.

This # is Bay Area Credit. I have been "working" with them for a year on a card under my name that doesn't exist in nature. When they leave a message and I call back, I've been told:

"That account is closed, thank you."
"I'm sorry, we must have had the wrong number."

Or, my very favorite:

"Let's get you started on a payment plan!"


How about I get you started on a payment plan, you nasty SOBs. It's called court, and I'm ready for class action if anyone else is angry. I know my financial documentation and that this card isn't mine and I'm not picking up the tab for identity theft.

They won't hold calls on your # if you ask. They won't even give the account number that they say I'm delinquent on.

Give love to their families when they call, and tell them it's gonna be warm in hell.

I am having the same problem with this number calls by daughters cell number 3 0r 4 times a day.  I have tried blocking it with my service but for some reason it does not blcok.  What can be done?

these people have been calling me for 5-6 months and when i call back they say they have the wrong number and "take it out of the system" but they keep calling. i dont know what else to do.

This number called me everyday for at least 6 months by now. I tried to csll back once and I got a machine. I don't have any credit issue with any creditors.  Why would they call my number every day? If I do have credit issue and for such long time, they can simply send me a demanding letter.  That will be clear for everyone.

how the .... does an ambulance ride collection get contracted out to india is this really the case or r these ....... just hiding from me?  Smart thing to do would be to stay hidden for a very long time.  This ones gonna take a while to wear off. How can i get any one of these people in my grasp??????????????

Haha, these people are the most annoying [***] ever!!! I did take an ambulance but had resolved the payment due with my travel insurance company 4 weeks before they started calling me. They still call very effing day asking me to find out the account number of my insurance company and cheque numbers and so much other random [***]. They've told me they'd taken me off there call list but stillll call!!! Glad I'm not the only one having issues with these people

They called my cell phone and left a different call back number.  When I called they wanted all types of information and would provide none.  I refused to answer questions and they became angry.  I won't answer or call back again.  BTW we are a Dave Ramsey family and have NO debt!  So it can't be a legitimate collector.

They call and don't leave message and then I return their call and ask who this is, I couldn't understand and then they said you don't know what a collection agency is?  I said I got a phone call from you and was returning your call and they hung up.  I called again and they said I don't understand. Hung up!  I called a 3rd time and asked for a supervisor and hung up on!  4th call NO ANSWER!
