im tired of these people calling me often,sumtimes waking me up,it seems in a situation like this people could start a class action lawsuit.

I just started getting these calls on my cell.  Looks like I'm a target too.  If anyone figures out how to stop these, please post.  I will check daily.

They have been calling for around three months now. The first time I answered they told me that I wasn't the person they wanted t get in touch with. Now I wonder why they keep on. I just ignore the calls now but it is a bother.
It would be nice to shut them down if in truth it has to do with identity theft.

Yes, I have been getting these creepy little phone calls for several months and the times that I have chosen to answer, I have requested to have my number removed. Now, I have researched the number and have found a way to contact a person with a relatively normal accent. 866-222-2097. Call and ask for a bill to be sent to you. Do not give your name. Then explain the situation. Perhaps they will finally do as they PROMISED and take me and you off of the list. Good luck!

When they call and the start to talk to you, change your voice and use a have heavy Middle Eastern? accents. Give them a dose of their own medicine make fun of his accent. Or last call CHANGE your number.

This number calling me has gotten way too far out of control!! These people call me about 2-3 times per day for the last month or 2.... I finally answered today and of course I could not understand much of what the guy was saying because the accent was so thick. But he said he was from Bay Srvcs. Credit Company and that he was calling to collect an unpaid debt from an ambulance ride from 2002. I told him I have never rode on an ambulance and then he proceeded to ask me if I lived at such and such address which I never had- so I told him no and then he read off another address (which is the one I currently live at)...this is a huge scam- do not give any of your info to this company. After I told him that I never rode on an ambulance, he said "Oh, I must have the wrong person"....but I still received 2 other calls from them later the same day...I have a feeling these people are not going to stop calling

these people are really getting annoying.  thanks for all the comments here.  I will never pick up a call from this number.

Every time someone read this message, please call number 408-392-4400 back 15 times.
They will eventually feels the pain they put all of us through.
I did this a mortgage company one time after I tell them what I was going to do and the calls stopped.

They were looking for someone about past credit and I happened to get that person's old number.  I spoke with a lady named Sherry.

Called the 408 number, they said they'd remove my number.  The person who had our number before us must be a real creep, we get so many calls for her!  Anyway, they said they'd take the number off the list..we'll see..

When I answer they hang up on me.  I called back 7 times! until I got someone.  They guy said his name was Steve and I was calling Bay Area Collections.  He asked for my Social, address, phone number and name.  Of course I didn't give it to him.  He has an Indian accent and is very rude when you start asking HIM questions.  What a moron.  In any case, I'm gonna contact my attorney general and I've informed "Steve" of this as well.  He hung up on me. lol

I received a call from a woman from the same number 800-697-1234.  She was asking for someone else, and demanded that I confirm my address with her.  This went on for about 2 minutes and then I hung up on her.

I've been getting these calls for a couple of months now. Never called them back since if they thought it was really that important, a human being would be making the call by now and not the same answering machine. Glad I found this site and found I was right. Debt collecton agency? lol. My credit score's in the 820's and  I'm months ahead in my mortgage payments and years ahead in my car payments. What's the reason for calling then? I have a good mind to just drop by their door and see what's up since its nearby. Or, better yet..maybe get the media involved. Hmmmmm....

These guys suck: Bay Area Credit.  I have been making payments to them for an ambulance bill i got in Sacramento, CA.  I continue to make small payments each month yet they still call.  I wrote and asked them to stop calling but a man with a thick East-Indian accent claims they didn't receive it.  They also never send me recipts for my payments yet they DO have the correct balance when i call and ask them if they received my payment.

I believe this company is really a collection agency just a really crappy one.  I got six calls on my cell phone these past two days.  I didn't answer. I've gotten really irrate with these folks and cursed them out, especially the guy with East-indian acccent. The most recent number they've called from include:

They are based out of San Jose, CA but their call center is in INDIA.  Hence the guy with the thick Indian accent.  Do they all sound the same?  Maybe to those in the U.S.

My guess as to why folks are being harassed for bills they don't have is that Bay Area Credit is an exploitive American business paying pennies to people in a third-world country to call us to get their money.

We get calls from this number several times a day and this has been going on for a couple of months.  The man with a heavy middle-Eastern accent cannot even speak English very well and cannot pronounce my last name....not even close!  Not sure how they/he got my name, except when they leave a message, the number you are asked to call back is entirely different than this 800#.  The number you are to call back begins with 866.  Thank goodness for caller ID, because I am sure we (wife and small children) would have got "trapped" into answering their calls, etc.  They better hope they never meet me face-to-face!  What a LARGE PAIN in the "you know what" these people are.....Please someone tell them to stop harrassing all of us and get a respectable job!

This agency has been calling and leaving messages for the past month or two at various times of the day as well as weekends. I finally called it back to have our number taken off their list. They said that they thought our number was to a business. They said we would no recieve any more calls. We have continued to recieve calls from the same number: 18006971234. I called back again today 08/01/2008 and spoke to the same Indian male. He told me the same again so I asked for his name but he refused to give it to me. He refused to give me his business address and when I asked to speak to a supervisor he hung up on me. I called back and he hung on me again after again asking to speak to a supervisor or someone else. He refused and hung up on me again. I called a third time and then spoke a female who transferred me to a supposed supervisor named "allen". He also had an Indian accent and reassured me the calls would terminate within 24 hours. What else can I do to get these people to stop harrassing my family and I with all these phone calls?
