    ANNOYED
RBC is making me really furious to say the least.

I didn't sign up with you to be harassed like this.
Couple times a day, few times a week, are u kidding me?

I have asked to be on their do not call list.. apparently they have 30 days to comply...so they want me, as a "valued" RBC customer to suffer for another month!?

If I receive another call I am going to cancel all my banking with them and bring my business elsewhere.

Called 1-800-769-2511. Just don't press any buttons and it goes straight to a real person. Asked to be removed from calling list. He asked a few verification questions and said it would take a couple days. Was a bit annoying to have to do this but a lot less annoying than my cell phone ringing off the hook all day. Thanks for the helpful posts everyone.

Some idiots at RBC. Calling 3 times a day every day, never leave a message. Called them back and turned out is is not them but somebody on their behalf who wants to ask if I want electronic bill instead of paper bill etc. And she said that she cannot tell them not to call

Ok people, I've contacted RBC via chat (the option was right at the website) and explained the situation. The agent called me right away to confirm it was me (security questions) and then changed the preferences to "not to receive courtesy or marketing calls". She told me it could take up to 3 weeks to take effect because the calls are pre-programmed.

Apparently when you open an account, by default the preferences are set to accept calls.

I hope it helps. Here is the link for the customer support page (chat at the left hand side):

Since number came up as 'Unavailable' I asked him "How am I to believe you?".  I said "Sorry" and hung up.  No calls back.

They do the same...i miss all the calls because I'm at work. RBC can send any information online, so if you miss the call, it doesn't matter at all.

Caller ID's can be faked.  I got calls 4 times a day while I was out of town.  When I finally spoke to them, they had little knowledge of my RBC accounts or products and at one point asked me for my bank access card number.   That was the trigger to hang up and call RBC Security.   They cancelled my VISA card as a precaution.

Yes, that number is from RBC. This is the answer I got from RBC customer service when I asked them to stop calling me:

''We'll certainly respect your wishes if you'd rather not get telemarketing calls from us. Apart from the federal government's Do Not Call list, we have our own lists of consumers who prefer that we don't call them. There are 2 ways to add yourself to these lists:

    - You can call us at 1 800 769-2511 or visit your bank branch. If you call, we'll ask you a series of security questions, so we can make sure of your identity
    - If you get a telemarketing call from us, you can ask at that time to be added to our internal do not call lists

Once your name is on our list, we have up to 31 days to comply with your request.

You can find our more on the Do Not Call List on our website, at:

    www.rbc.com/national-do-not-call-list.html ''

I finally answered after they wouldn't stop calling my cell during the work day (like everyone else, they call more than once in a short amount of time and never leave a message) and she wanted to discuss my financial portfolio and tell her my financial goals for the year. Like, seriously? I told her that I'm sick of getting phone calls from RBC. It's either a survey or some 1800 number calling for various yet always unnecessary reasons. I have no idea why RBC would pay people to irritate their customers this way. Like I told her, if I wanted to discuss my financial goals or portfolio I'd go to the bank and see someone. Why would I want to discuss that, out of the blue on a work day, with some stranger over the phone? It's one thing to follow up with your customers and offer them services and advice but it's another to just irritate them on a continuous basis. Can you imagine if your grocery store, your hardware store, your mechanic, your hair salon and spa, etc. all would call several times a day for weeks to talk about your business with them?

She told me she'd make a note that I wish not to receieve calls but that it would take about a month. But for those saying all you have to do is call and get them to put you on the no-call list, this isn't the first time I've had to ask them. Clearly they don't listen to their customers. In 2 years this is at least the 3rd I've had this problem with them.

This doesn't seem to stop even when requests are made to RBC Customer Service.  If they don't stop this month, I will shut down my account of more than thirty years and go to my local credit union instead.  Aggressive marketing is never done by credit unions -- likely because they live their slogan "people before profits."
