Exactly as you describe it, Joe Knows. The problem with all these bogus calls is that unsuspecting people are their prey and will give up too much information, maybe even their bank account information. Sad, awful, corrupt human beings at the center of these scams.

Whatever you do folks, don't talk to these scammers. Just don't! Obviously Social
Security doesn't pull this kind of nonsense.

This is a spoof using the SSA phone number. Have received 3 calls today!

Yup...  Just listened to a voicemail...  "Joe Knows" is correct.

They left just the last syllable of a recorded message on my voicemail -- "Bye."  I assume this is a defective scam robocall.

Call from this number was not answered and they left no voice message.

The caller ID identified this number as SSA.   800-772-1213 they left no message

They said my benefits where to be interrupted immediately for illegal activities. I don’t hardly ever leave the house and don’t do anything illegal. I can’t afford to lose my benefits. I didn’t think soc.sec. Called people.

Got a call from this number today....SCAM !!! They called from a different number yesterday with the same robo voice / message...

This number 1800-772-1213 called I did not answer. They left a message saying that, if I don't call back my SS# will be blocked forever. I never called back.

A recorded message says that my SSN benefits would be discontinued and if i felt it was an error I should press 1.  I did check the SSA website and they did have the number listed but it seemed shady to me.  I did not respond.

I got a call on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, Nov. 23rd 2018.  The caller said they were with the SSA.   I am very suspicious.  Our local office is closed as I suspect is all of the SSA.    This seems like a scam, but the call is very convincing.  It even has recordings of what the SSA would say.

This is a spoof.  They are trying to steal your social security number. If they were truly from the Social Security Administration they would already have your SS number. They would NOT be calling you to ask for it. Don't fall fr it. If it was important they more than likely would have sent you a certified letter.  If you are still un sure, call your actual Social Security Administration and ask if they actually tried to contact you. Chances are they didn't. My first clue was i just bought a new phone with a new number. It's a un listed number. I haven't even given it to anyone. So, how did they get it? There are scams every day. Be smart and don't fall for them. Especially if they just don't sound right.

Just answered a call from 800-772-1213 I have it in my contacts as Social Security Scam even though it is the number listed on the SS website. Anyway I said hello and then a recorded female voice said goodbye. This is the second such call I've received in 4 days.

False Social Security number. The "representative officer" was confronted with a DNC response, I am seeking to trace the number through telecommunication companies.

SCAM! The Social Security Administration will NEVER call you and ask for information over the phone. They already have it. They will send you information through the US Mail.

The recording said my SSN was in danger and I needed to returned a call to continue by SSN benefits.  I called back on was on the line for a long time until I decided to hang up.  Not for sure if this is a scam or something inlegally.

This caller said that my social security its been stopped because there are some illegal actions , when i asked to talk with spanish speaking person , he said there’s  no one , when i usually called i spoke in my native language ( spanish) so this is scam !! He hung up right away

just remember the government never calls you, they communicate always via regular mail.  exception is when you call or email them.  this is a spoof: the person calling you makes it appear as someone else (conveniently of course, the social security admin) so if you call the number yourself you get the legit place; funny in my case they don't leave a message lol
