- Cautions oneReceived a call today from a guy at a Chase branch saying that my account was signed over to him. He called from 407-332-9274. Strange because I do not live near that branch (more like an hour away). Told him to take a hike. Called number back and got voicemail saying to call 1800-935-9935. SCAM!
- Caller: Chase bank
- Joe bobgot a message from 1(800) 935-9935 today and the guy said he was with Chase fraud prevention servicing amazon.com card services to verify information. Asked me to call them back and that they are open 24 hours. Well I don't have any chase accounts, haven't had any since 1998 or so and i have no Amazon credit cards so obviously a phishing scam. Do these people think we are this dumb nowadays.
- AlActually got an email saying my address change was updated, when I did no such address change. This 800 number is in the email to call cust svc if I didn't update my address. If it smells like BS, it has to be BS.
- JasonThis is scam number
- K.So... after spending more than 30 minutes with Chase Credit Card, Chase Debit Card, and the Chase Credit Card Security teams respectively, here is what I've concluded. The number is indeed from a Chase Debit Card automated system. However, Chase representatives from all three departments concluded that there was no call originated from this number to me. It is likely that some scammers spoofed Chase's phone number and like others have reported, tried to trick Chase's account holders in providing their account info. and security details to them. In other words, while the call may not be originated from this number, it displays on your phone as if it is. Don't pick up the call, check your debit+credit card account right away, and report the incident to Chase immediately (i.e. the number at the back of your cards). I've requested Chase Security Team to conduct an investigation into this. If everyone does the same, they will take this more seriously and give it the highest priority it deserves.
- Caller: Scammer!
- MKLOn January 17, 2017, I received a call and voice mail from 800-935-9935. The voice mail stated that there had been fraudulent activity on my credit card and instructed me to call them number back having my credit card number ready to share with them. The caller knew my name and the last four digits of my credit card number. I called the number listed on my credit card and gave them the above information. They asked me if I recognized a phone number ending in 9605. I did not. The credit card company said someone calling from this number had tried to access my credit card account a few days ago. My credit card company immediately closed my current account and is issuing me a new number and credit card. Lesson learned, never give your credit card number to anyone who calls you. Always call the number listed on your credit card or credit card statement to find out if the call was legitimate.
- Caller: Fraudulent Credit Card People
- scambusterOK, this really is (assuming someone isn't spoofing the caller ID) Chase (JP Morgan-Chase) calling (the telephone number is posted on their official Website... it's their fraud reporting line).
BUT, why are they calling? Yes, I do have accounts with them, but there are no problems (checked status online) so there is no reason they should be calling me (called early AM, but hung up without leaving message when no one answered). I called the number back (my scammer check), and got a recording that asked me to enter my credit card number or debit card number. REALLY ? In this day in age with rampant phishing scams, these fools really expect a caller to blindly enter their financial information over the phone?
So, as a customer and a SHAREHOLDER, I blasted them about the gross flaws in their security. I still don't know why they are calling me, or apparently randomly calling other people using this phone number. Maybe a copy of this post should be sent to CEO Jaime Dimon for an explanation. Something is really, really wrong if this is how they conduct business.- Caller: Chase
- SGThis number keeps calling me asking for my debit card number. This is yet another scam of folks trying to get your money. The guy on the other ended sounded foreign. Be aware of this scam to get information to steal from you.
