    I have been receiving these calls for months on my cell phone.  At all hours of the day/night.  My wife called the US customer service department and told them of the situation.  Her suspicions were aroused when she called back the 9556600 number and the automated voice asked for the cc# and 9 digit ss#.  I believe it may be illegal to ask for this information over the phone.  They usually ask for only the last 4 digits.  So when she called the US office she was told by customer service that Capital One does NOT ask for this information over the phone, they would never request a SS#, nor would they call someone's cell phone.  They are aware of the problem and are investigating the situation, and that we should hang up, and most of all do not give them any personal information.

    So make no mistake, the calls you are getting are NOT from Capital One.  It is from a call center in India, and is probably involved in an identity theft ring.  When my wife got a voice on the phone at the call center, she started questioning the operator.  Caught her in a lie when she said she worked for Capital One.  My wife told her that Capital One does not ask for SS#'s or call cell phones.  So then my wife asked, "who do you really work for, because you're not capital one", the operator put her on hold to talk to a supervisor, came back and said she wasn't authorized to tell her that.  My wife pushed her a bit to gain more information and slip her up.  She said that there is an investigation going on because these practices are illegal, that Capital One is aware of this and that legal action will have to be taken.  The operator sounded very nervous and promised to take my number off their call list right away.  We'll see what happens.  But they should know that we're on to their game.

    I am a capital one customer in good standing for many years; they called me and get this, not for me.  They are calling and harassing me because they can not get a hold of my wife’s brother who apparently has missed some payments.  Very rude, and insistent that I tell him to call them.  When I called and complained to customer service from my own account all they did was direct me to the BBB to file a complaint.

    I have been getting phone calls from this number for the last 4 months!  Three times a day EVERYDAY!  One:  I am not a Capital One customer.  Two: I am not "Walter".  Three:  I am a female, so my name wouldn't be "Walter".  Today, I have had enough, so I called Capital One.  Spoke to a person and refused to hang up until I can speak to someone that can take care of this problem.  Finally I spoke to a "manager" and so I will wait and see if the phone calls will stop. My cell phone number is on their "Do Not Call" list and should be in affect 24 hours from today.  But it can take as long as 30 days to purge my number off of ALL of their telemarketing list!  I got the "manager's" name, and his ID number so in 30 days if I still have this problem, I will pursue it further up the chain.

    I have been getting a call a day for the last 5 days. If this is Capital One then I don't know why they're calling me because I don't even have an account with them, nor will I ever. There's no name on the caller ID and they never leave a voice mail.

    call the number back and wait in silence until you get a person.  then tell them you just got this new phone number and you don't have an account with capital one, and for them to take your number off their call list.

    This is capital one. My call was from the fraud dept because I reported fraudulent transactions on my account. It was legitimate. But it looks as though it also may be their collections line.

    Started to call everyday after missing a payment and never leave a message on the machine.  How important is it to get ahold of me if there is no name on the caller id & no one leaves a message!? I was actually thinking about no longer having a land line due to the fact that the only people that call that number are from credit card or other companies but from reading others comments, I now know that they can also get a hold of your cell phone number.  Why is it required (in most cases) to have a contact # for credit card companies, etc. again, if they never leave you a message?  Is there any way to get them and other companies to stop calling?

    This number calls my house at amost all hours of the day. I told the person on the other line that I did not want them to call and that if they did I would report them.

    I don't have an account with Capital One & never have, but they still call me several times a day which just started a few months ago. This is also my work number, so I don't understand why they're calling here. I will contact the VA Attorney General & Capital One today to get this stopped.

    this is NOT capital one...do not give them any info, they are a phishing agency looking to steal your credit card info or identity.  The number has been reported to the FBI and they will take care of them.

    These people do not leave a message and when you do talk to some one they are rude and hard to understand. they do call constantly and are very persistant
    If Capitol One to collect their money the least they could do is have a fellow American speak to you One that you can understand and understands what you are saying.  As soon as I get my account paid I'm dumping them.

    I read that people get calls as soon as they get a new phone.
    I got a verizonwireless and the calls came to my house as well.
    I got on their website, it takes some searching, but I found
    the place where you " opt out " of giving your info out.
    I hope that helps. I am on the do not call list. But apparently
    verizon sees itself above federal law.
    And I do not have a capital one acct.
