- DerindaCall all the time with no one at other end
- u got Verizon????I read that people get calls as soon as they get a new phone.
I got a verizonwireless and the calls came to my house as well.
I got on their website, it takes some searching, but I found
the place where you " opt out " of giving your info out.
I hope that helps. I am on the do not call list. But apparently
verizon sees itself above federal law.
And I do not have a capital one acct.- Caller: capital one
- Bill collectors are a jokeI've been getting 5-10 calls a day in spite of telling them repeatedly that they have a wrong number, so now I'm just starting to have fun with it.
Sometimes I cuss at them, sometimes I act like I want to have phone sex with them, etc.
Oh, and CapOne Agent? If you "only make minimum wage" and "don't want to call us" GET A NEW JOB. McDonald's is always hiring, will pay the same if not more, and you won't have to call people who are going to be hostile to you. I know you aren't very bright, being a bill collector and all, but even someone of your limited intelligence can understand that concept. Plus, you won't have to lie to your family about what you do for a living anymore.- Caller: Capitol One
- LindaThis number has called my cell phone 10 times in the last 2 days. It is absolutely ridiculous! I have told them to stop calling....I doubt if they will
- SportguyI have gotten around 20 calls from this number last week. I thought it was a Spam call. I finally decided to answer and a lady asked for my name, I responded that was me. They actually informed me that I had a past due balance on one of my credit cards. I did not believe them so I asked them what card it was and the amount I owed. The lady was correct, she had the correct card number and I had a past due amount I forgot to pay. She asked me if I wanted to pay over the phone and while we were talking I actually paid online at the credit card website. She shortly saw I made a payment and thanked me for it.
That was it, she said no more calls will be made to my cellphone.
If you get a call, make sure you ask whom are they trying to reach and verify that they have the correct credit card. I would not give any more info though.- Caller: Capital One
- non1disI've been receiving these calls at least 3 times a day for the last couple of weeks. I don't have any accounts with Capital One in any shape or form. When these calls started, I would pick up the phone, but not say a word. I wanted to hear if there was anything in the background that I could recognize and wait for them to become nervous about the silence and say something. When they did, the person calling would usually as for "David" and then hang up.
Today I stepped up my response to the annoying calls. When they call and you know you don't have any issues with Capital One, record the phone message even if you don't hear anything from their end. Tell the caller that the call is being recorded for the police. They don't know whether or not you are really recording the call. It's up to you to decide if you will actually record the call and whether you tape the actual call and/or make a call diary. This is evidence that can be used against them (even if they don't say anything) to charge them with harassment and take them and/or Capital One to court. All I said was,"This call is being recorded for the police." You don't say "Hi!" or "Hello!" Just start immediately with the mention of the call being recorded. They hung up in my ear very quickly.
So far the evening has been peaceful. The calls stopped around 3:30 this afternoon and no phone has been ringing this evening (almost midnight now). - lonnieI get called from this number several times a day, but they will never leave a message. I'm not prone to answering unknown 1800 numbers, so if it is a collections department, leave me a message, so that when you call me again, and i know you will, i will know who it is and will answer. I've worked for an automobile dealership and have had to make these calls to get people to pay service bills and other payments. I never just hung up the phone and called back 2 hours later. I left a message, and if they didn't call back then i would call them again. Its just rude to bother someone 5-6 times a day. you think these people are going to be able to get up the money to pay you in that 3 hour gap you give them in between calls, NO. if they write you a check it will take 3 days to get there, and they are still going to have to defend themselves even with the payment on the way. It's ridiculous!!!
- kimberly flaniganthey call me all the time and there is no one on the phone and im on the do not call list how do i get them to stop
- SylviaThey keep calling me at all times of day, even early on Sunday and I don't even have a Capital One card.

- non1disIf you don't want to go the route of keeping a call diary and getting the police involved, you might ask your phone service if they have call rejection or call blocking. For a nominal fee (either a one-time use or monthly), you dial in using your personal security code and then enter the nuisance phone number and that should stop the calls at least from reaching you. A list of nuisance phone numbers is kept in your phone's memory and can be edited to keep things current. It still might be a good idea to keep a hard copy list of the nuisance calls you receive because often these callers have an arsenal of numbers they can use and your Caller ID will still say either "Toll Free" or Capital One.
So don't get angry. Don't blow whistles into your telephone handset - that never really works anyway. Just get some kind of call rejection system set up through your phone service. If your service doesn't have one, maybe switching to a service that does might be better.- Caller: Capital One
- TommyThis Freaking # keeps calling me and never say anything just hang up I know it camputer dialed and I WANT IT TO STOP if not I will turn it over to the BBB !!!!

- mominmichMy teenage daughter gets calls on her cell phone, thankfully she doesn't answer. what a scom
- FrustratedMy parents called to tell me that this number called them and asked my father to verify his social security number which has been compromised and that they have proven it truly belongs to a woman from California. My father has had this number for over 24 years, and he was told it wasn't his. And to stay on the phone because they were going to put Social Security on three-way to ask him questions.
Is this for real? Would SSA send him a letter? My father just retired and started collecting his benefits from that number. I told them it was a scam and to not give ANY information they so-called already have and to call the SSA office immediately to investigate or put in a complaint. - SuspiciousObviously this is a fraud-ring. There are many ways to call numbers with a "spoof" caller-id to make it "appear" it's someone else calling and naive and uninformed people fall for it and later find out they had their identity stolen.
Don't fall for it! If you owe money to Capital One and you know it, call them up and make sure you clear that up.
NEVER give your information out in this manner! - Donna HarrisI get calls from this number at least once a week. No answer.
- confused!!This number keeps appearing on my caller ID. The problem is, I do NOT have a Capital One Credit Card. I have ZERO accounts with Capital One. Just received phone service/new phone number, and I'm wondering if they're calling for a person who used to have our number.
Regardless, I don't appreciate them calling 5 times a day. - Ninja KillerGot a call from 1-800-955-6600 today.
It was a recording.
"Emily from Capital One had been trying to reach me about new account options, please call her back."
I'll get right on that.- Caller: Capital One
- bobbyunder the FDCPA, they are only allowed to make 2 calls a day, as well as if you tell them to contact you by usps they have to abide. Under the FDCPA they can be sued for alot. Dont be afraid to look it up and use it next time they call. They want money and thats it, but under that act you have rights and privileges and you should use it to the fullest extent of the law.

- Not a capital one customerI'm getting calls from this number but don't even have a capitol one card...
