Report a phone call from 800-955-7070 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- SamIt's capital one. they have this number on their website. they called me at 9pm and left no message. just really bad marketing.
- Caller: Capital One
- Call type: Telemarketer
- DDCaller ID read "800-955-7070." I answered and a robotic voice said, " Harold Alexander." I said nothing. The voice identified itself as" Capital One with an important message for Harold Alexander". It said, "If you are Harold Alexander, press "1." I amdefinitely not Harold so I pressed the # key and leaned on it for a minute or two until I heard a fast busy signal. Hope that fouls up their fake robo-call. Amazing. What bothers me is this: Suppose I was an elderly person who didn't hear the "Harold Alexander" name? I'm sure -- based on similar calls from other fraudulent robo- callers -- the caller's next question would have requested that I enter my CC or bank account number. An elderly person misunderstanding the name might have unwittingly provided their info. And so much for the "Do Not Call" List. My number is listed there and I receive calls 2-3 times a week. What to do??
- SusanFinally answered this call, she said it was Capital One and asked my birth date to access my account information, I asked what the call was about that I was not giving out any info until I knew what the call was about, she hung up and they have not called back, so what does that tell you...SCAM!
- JayThey called my cell phone and left no message. I do have a capital one account, and it is in good standing. I called them back, and was advised that I "probably" got a call regarding a special offer or program.
- Caller: Capital One
- Call type: Telemarketer
- DottyI am getting a call rrom 1-800-955-7070. The person says he'[s called several times and cannot give detail of the substance of the call. At that point I hung up. I usually do not answer calls that come from "Unavailable" sources.
- JdSThis is NOT from Capital One. It is just a scam to steal you credit card information. They have called me at home and in the office, and I never had an account with Capital One. I don't even qualify for an American bank account since I don't have a SS number.
- Kristin1129 replies to BenIts not debt. All of my credit cards are in good standing. I have excellent credit and no card with them.
- Photocrazy| 1 replyI have accounts with them and they are calling here. Mine are up to date but sometimes they will call if someone is trying to use your account for a large purchase.
I would just call them directly to see what is going on. It may be that someone has spoofed their number to make it look like Capitol One calling then steal your information. I wouldn't give the info to the caller, call the company directly and tell them that someone called and why and that it showed that number that way if it isn't them, they can look into it.- Caller: UNK
- Photocrazy replies to PhotocrazyBTW the number is listed on the Capitol One Website as their number, but I think that someone is spoofing it, using a computer to make it look like the call is really calling from that phone number.
- dancergeneral announcement: it is possible, and actually fairly easy, for scammers to spoof Caller ID information now. if a "credit card" company calls you and asks you for personal information, decline, say you'll call them back "for better security", and take down whatever number they give you, especially if it is different from the number they called from.
then call the real credit card company and report the incident - ginaat least one or two calls a day, I don't pick up .

- CherylCThis number called my cell (which costs me money) and I am not the person they called for. I am on the "Do Not Call Registry" and I advised them to remove my cell number or I will report them. Obviously some loser has given my number so they will not be bothered by debt collectors....Come on people take responsibility and be accountable for your OWN actions! I have A-one credit, pay taxes and work hard! Whoever you are, I wish you could get your life together and leave innocent, honest, and responsible people alone! And when I got this call it was not automated...it was someone calling regarding someone else's bad debt!
- Caller: unknown
- Call type: Debt collector
- AliI also got a hang up call from this number!
- LCStum replies to jermThey've been calling me over and over for a few days now. Finally picked up and they just wanted to make sure I got my new card a month ago because I haven't activated that replacement card yet. They already had the last 4 digits of my card and only asked my birthday. They knew I had a replacement card and offered to activate it for me. I said no, that I would do it myself. The gentleman was definitely from the US and had no accent whatsoever.
- RobIt is cap one they wanted to sell me overdraft protection.
- Caller: Cap One
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Fletch replies to frustrated in San Diegoanswer the call and find out!
- EHarteIt's capital one that keeps calling to try and sell me on promotions. I am not late on any payments and have asked repeatedly for them to stop calling me unless I am over my limit(which has never happened) or there is suspicious activity on my account.
Clearly they ignore my requests. I answer almost every time and ask them to stop calling me.- Caller: Capital One
- Call type: Telemarketer
- bigmarkfanReceived several calls from this number on my cell phone. Never left a voicemail. I googled the number and see that it's Capital One. I called them and told them I had no accounts with them and that I kept getting phone calls even though I am on a do not call list. The representative took my name and cell phone number and said I would receive no more phone calls. Just a reminder to all of you that are on DO NOT CALL lists ... if they continue to call after you've asked them not to, you can sue them. Lengthy process, but it can be done. Good luck! By the way, the way they get your phone number is simply by starting with (example) 555-0000 and then dial 555-0001 and then 555-0002 and so on. Eventually everyone's number will be called. Frustrating!!!!
- Caller: Capital One
- AnonGot a call from them this afternoon. I believe the caller said she was Stephanie. Knew my name and the last four digits of my account number. She asked for my date of birth to confirm my identity. I didn't feel comfortable giving it out, so I declined the call. How are you going to call me to attempt to confirm my identity, but not let me confirm yours?
- Caller: Capital One
