Was just called 3x within a minute. Declined each call. Was left with a vm for someone else regarding fraud to a cap 1 account, gave a file # and different call back number.
Doesn't pertain to me, so I'm blocking the number.
Could be a scam.

Received 2 messages stating they were from Capital One and there was possible fraud on my card.

Capital One fraud prevention isn't going to call you unless you or your phone number are connected to an account.  Once you've verified it's actually Capital One, it's pretty dangerous not to call in and verify what's going on.

This is a Capital One number, which several departments channel through.  They left a voicemail.  The call was from the fraud prevention department.  They left another number to call back on, and also said I could call the number on the back of my card (safer choice).
Unsure why others ignorantly say calls from this number are a "scam", when they didn't answer the call or speak to anyone at Capital One.
I recommend you don't ignore this, even if you don't have a Capital One account - You never know what can happen with identity fraud

Man, you're ignorant. You deserve anything bad that happens to your credit if you're too paranoid to speak to Capital One -Especially when the fraud prevention department calls you

38 calls from this number just minutes apart and no voicemails. I call this harassment. I work nights and always put my phone on do not disturb when I get home, thank goodness. I don't have a capital one credit card so I have no clue why they are blowing up my phone. I have blocked this number through my provider to prevent any further calls.

I think this is a scam. I got a call from this number claiming to be Capital One Fraud Protection Department. He said that someone had recently applied for a Capital One account using my information, and that it was urgent that I call them back immediately. He gave me a case number so I can refer to it when I call back.

I went to www.capitalone.com and looked up their official customer service number. I called their customer service, and then I asked if their was any record of someone applying for an account using my personal information. I was transferred to their fraud/application department. After a thorough check, the agent I spoke to said there was NO record of anyone applying for an account using my information. Even the case number that the caller provided didn't match anything in their records.

I think the caller spoofed my phone into thinking that the call was from Capital One (800-955-7070), and the caller probably wanted me to verify/provide my personal info (SSN, date of birth, address, etc.), so the he could use it for fraudulent activity. The caller's name was supposedly "Jonathan", but he had an accent (Middle-Eastern? African? I couldn't tell; it sounded like a mix between the two), which made me suspicious because there are lots of scammers from other countries.

If you get a call like this then DON'T answer it. If you do answer it, then you're at high risk of them extracting your personal information (they're EXTREMELY SNEAKY at tricking/pressuring you into giving them your info). Just because they say their from Capital One Fraud Protection, it does NOT mean that it's true. It's best to let the call go to you voice mail, and then call their *official* Capital One customer service number, which you can find online. If you call the *official* Capital One customer service number (which is SAFE), then you'll need to provide your personal info (as I did) so they can check their system.

Got a call from this number which stated on caller ID as Station 2931124.  Did not answer because it did not say Capital One, which I had been dealing with.  Scam?

My mom picked up and that asked for our address and last four digits of our social security number

This number is legit! It is on the capital one website under managing accounts

Says he is with Experian. Started slick talk about how they can get my interest down from the 29% range to 6%. Asked again if he worked for Experian. “That’s right” he replied. Started getting excited when I started saying that’s awesome... really cool....etc. gave me time to get my AIR HORN in the garage.

When in doubt always hang up and call yourself. Even if they can verify a detail about you this doesn't mean they are who they say they are and the only way to know who you're talking to is to turn your card over and call the number you see. And if Cap One is calling you about something important you will know. There won't be any doubt's.

I received a call from 1-800-955-7070 today, caller id states Capitol One. When you call the number back it does go to Capitol One. I called Capitol One on their other customer number listed on the website. This is a scam, on my call they were stating that I qualified for a lower interest rate and wanted to make sure I received it. When I called Capitol One-there was no record of anyone calling me from there. BEWARE-NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR SSN OR BIRTHDATE WHEN THE CALL IS AN INBOUND CALL TO YOUR PHONE. NEVER NEVER.

received first ever call today. Did not answer. Checked google and saw all the posts. We DO NOT have any VISA OR MASTERCARDS let alone any business with Capital One.  We are going to check with local Credit folks to see if anyone has scammed us or Capital One in our name.

What is a "local Credit folks"?

I don't have a Capital One account/card so obviously scammers phishing off their number in hopes of getting information from an account holder.
