Called me for the same reason.  Never asked for any personal info but stated the same thing about the over the limit fees and pushed me to say yes which I did not do.  They did state the last four numbers of my account...not that I knew if it was right or not because I didn't look...and said it was Capital One calling about my account # ending in ####.  They wanted to verify only my zip code and I told them that if they were really Capital One, they would know my zip code.  So she moved on with her little script.

I just received a call from this number. It is Capital One and the call is regarding the new Federal Law effective 2-10. They are making the offer to allow you to go over your credit limit for a 29.00 charge rather than the 39.00 old amount.

It is capital one, they keep calling but at this time the only thing that i notice in my account its an increase in my credit line but they call when Im at work so i don't answer.

They call me a few times a day. I finally took time out to call back the number and automated voice says, "Welcome to Capital One. Please enter your 16-digit credit cart number.." Sounds like a scam to me. Don't do it and report it to FCC.

These people just keep calling and hanging up, two or three times daily.  I finally called the number back and talked to someone at Capitol One.  She says they are just calling me to ask about overdraft protection!!! I do have an account with them I have never been late and have a balance of 66.00.  I asked to have my name removed from this list and was told it would take several weeks to do.  I'm cancelling my card with these people and don't want to be harrased everyday by them.  Don't do business with them

I got a call from this number.  Called back Capital One and they said it was a telemarketing call from them wanting to know if I wanted to add an authorized user on my account.  I'm single and don't plan on taking on anyone else's bills but my own.  Love the low APR I have on my Capital One card (single digit and has been for years now) and am generally happy with them.  This is the first time I've been bothered by them in this manner.  Got about three calls a day from this number and they never left a message.  A bit annoying.

The call is legit, not collections or telemarketers. I called to verify.

Several times a day I get calls from this number they never leave a message and I am sick of it! I do not have a card with them so they have no reason to be calling me....I do not know what to do to stop this!

The number that shows up is a real CapitalOne number, but it is a scam. They are using some kind of caller ID spoofing. CapitalOne says that they have never called me. And I indeed do not have an account with them.

THIS IS NOT CAPITAL ONE. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFO.

This is a scam, they're using a common CallerID shadow system that shows the Capital One phone number so you think the call is legit.

This number appears on my caller ID 3-4 times a day.  ID is not provided.  Usually every 2 hrs. they call.  Called back once and a recording said, "All circuits busy, please try your call again."  Did a little research and found a company called Capital One Funding, LLC., located in W. VA.  The number listed under this similar sounding company is the same as the "real" Capital One."  No affiliation with the "real" Capital One.  When I called the number on the back of my credit card, they said there is no problem with my account; however, they didn't seem overly concerned these calls come to me 3-4 times a day.  Sounds like a huge scam to me.

It cannot be Capitol One. Caller ID says it is TOLL FREE CALL. Whoever they claim to be is not who it is. This number is running a scam. Those who are claiming it is associated with a legitimate business are in on the scam also.

These people have just recently started calling me I do not answer and I never will I do have an acc with capitol but have never been behind so they would not be calling Some how these people need to stop harassing people

Got a phone call from this number for two weeks straight from 8:30 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. At least 7 - 10 calls a day.  Usually the phone would either put me on hold when answered or the call would disconnect upon answering.  When I FINALLY got a live person when I answered the call they were not trying to collect any debt, said they were calling about a Capital One Legislative issue.  I told them to remove this number off of their list, they have been a nusance to my family and real pests.  We'll see if they actually removed the number.

I received a missed call and no message yesterday during dinner. Then they recalled during lunch today and I answered. It was Capital One trying to sell Identity Theft protection services. As a customer, this is the first telemarketing call I've received from them, so I hope it doesn't become a growing trend.

I just got a call from this number 800-955-7070. I googled and found this page here and read some of the comments about it being real or fake. So since recently I had a call on a vise card of mine that someone had got and used I decided to call the number on the back of my Capital One Card insted. Just got off the phone with a lady from india or somewhere so it was somewhat hard to understand. But she told me this was a Capital One number and they would call me back later. I asked what the call was for, but her awnser was I don't know what it is about. I asked if maybe it was about my card being stolen or not and she said NO. But couldn't tell me what the number 800-955-7070 was for, but it is a Capital One number.

This is definitely a SCAM to steal your identity! It is insidious because the number that shows up on caller is a number for the real Capital One, but the caller is NOT with Cap One.

The scammers have a machine that allows a programmable and different number to show up on your caller I.D.
So the caller provides the last 4 digits of your card and verifies your name. (Information which they already have, but they need more to better steal your identity). Then they start to ask you for more personnal information, like zipcode, social sec #, address etc.. It is a scam and they are trying to get  more information because their intentions are to use your identity to make purchases and get new cards.

When I recieved this call, I called Capital One fraud department back and they said
1) No one from Capital One called me today
2) Capital One would'nt ask those questions
3) Capital One wouldn't refuse to mail me about the "changes" to my account without me giving them more info on my account.

This call is a Scam, do not fall for it.
