Report a phone call from 800-978-8664 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- JohannaThe caller ID was blocked, so I didn't answer. Voice mail was left with this number. Didn't find it on Chase's site, so I just called the number on the back of the card instead of the number given. I told the operator about the voicemail, and he gave me the number on the voicemail without any prompting. It's legit.
- Malisai called this number. they refered me to my local chase location to verify id....its legit...
- CheriGot a message yesterday from someone claiming to be Chase debit card fraud asking me to call 800 978 8664 and have my debit card number with me. I was suspsicious and didn't call, since although I have a Chase account, it does NOT have a debit card. Then I got a message this morning from Chase fraud at 800 355 5265 just asking me to call. I didn't call either of the numbers, but instead called the number on my ATM card. It turns out the call was real. Someone was using the debit card that Chase issued me years ago which was never activated (which was cut up as soon as I received, so it doesn't even exist). Just goes to show, even if you don't have a debit card you're not immune to this kind of fraud.
- Caller: Chase
- DJI got this number too. Called the # on the back of my card and asked for the fraud department #, it was the same. Turned out that my account had been compromised. They credited back my account and are in the process of sending me a new card. This is a safe number. If you call it back, they will ask you for all your personal info. You can verify them too. Tell them you don't have your bank account number, give them your address and they will have all your info.

- skepticHas anyone notice how many of the posts contain the same words... like "legit". How many of them were written by the same person. Something to think about..... Betcha this number is part of a scam. Hang up and tell them NOTHING
- Common SenseDon't listen to people on these sites who say a number IS legitimate. They might be the scammers for all you know. Look up the number on your bank's actual site (always make sure yourbankname.com is the LAST thing that appears before the FIRST slash), or call the number on the back of your card.

- Just Called| 2 repliesI got a letter in the mail the other day saying my card had a temporary hold because of unusual activity....it was like my first use of the card in probably a year and i used it to put money in online poker. So I called the number (8009788664) they put on their letter, and I started talking to somebody, but after giving out a little information I just felt uneasy. So I decided to end the call and call the number on the back of my debit card, to see if it was really a part of Chase. That person told me that the number was correct, and then he asked if I wanted to be connected to them directly, which of course I did. So the number is definitely Chase's fraud prevention department, but if you still don't feel convinced, you should just call Chase directly and have them connect you directly to fraud prevention

- SolomonCall the number it is CHASE. They have unusual charges pending on your card. They are trying to save you some pain.
- jess replies to MeI got an email telling me to call that number because of fradulent activity. No sure if it is legit, I haven't called. Oddly enugh, I was at the branch this morning to make a deposit and withdrawl and no one said anything to me.
To all the others saying chase would never ask for you ss number, that is not true. Everytime I have ever had to call them, they ask for either my social or my credit card number to verify the account. And no, I know I am not being scammed in those instances as I am calling them directly and the call was prompted by me, not them.
But yeah, not sure what kind of information you want to give out. If you are really worried, just go into a branch. That is truely the safest way.
I won't be calling this number back as the email was from a week ago, and nothing has happened. - JBessThis really is the Chase Fraud Prevention Department--it's a fully automated number that just asks about any transactions that seem out of the ordinary on your account.
- Caller: Chase
- SlanedawgIt appears this is a legitimate Chase Bank "Fraud Prevention Hot-line" number. They said my Debit card may be compromised so they are canceling my debit card and issuing me a new one. 5 to 7 days to receive the new one was what I was told. So I won't have a debit card for a few days. Better safe than sorry.
- chasecustomerGot a message called them. They verified my information and were able to tell me what transactions I performed that day. Seems my card is part of a bunch of other cards whose accounts were compromised.

- JSeeker| 3 repliesI got this call from 800 978 8664 this morning, before 9 am. The first thing, the guy had a heavy foreign accent. (MY FIRST TIP) He wanted me to verify my mailing address for security purposes. I have gotten calls from Chase fraud department before. I knew this was not the process for verification. I told him he would not get any personal information from me. He told me to call the number on the back of the card; I did.
The bank (Chase) checked their fraud department records. No one had called me. There was no flag on my card or account. They thanked me for reporting the phone call, because the number DOES NOT - I REPEAT DOES NOT!!! - belong to CHASE!!!
It is not a number affiliated with Chase in any way.
If you get this call. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION!!!
These are phishing calls. ALWAYS make them verify who THEY are.
If they cannot, hang up and call the number on the back of your card. - AfghanAnt replies to JSeekerThis is in fact Chase. I just made to a huge deposit followed by two smaller but still larger withdraws and Chase is just calling to confirm. If you do not feel comfortable talking to them because of your personal prejudices (saying someone is suspicious because they have an accent is insane), just call Chase back from and they will confirm it was them.
JSeeker your comments were unneeded and highly offense just for the sake of you. Shame you. - fakeThis is absolutely fake. I can only guess that people saying it isnt are part of the scam. It feels very real, it is well orchestrated, and feels very official, but this number is part of a scam to get your credit card information. Called chase using the number on the back of the card, and they verified that no account problems existed, and that this number or call did NOT come from them. Chase tracks any messages they send you, and they verified they had NOT sent me anything. If in doubt, do not call the number they give, but use the number on the back of your card to verify - This number is a SCAM
- camilleI got a vm message saying that they were calling from Chase Fraud Prevention and that I should call this number. I called Chase and they said that they hadn't reached out to me. So it's a fake. The caller id said that the original callers had called from 877-302-4273.
- johnnyboy| 1 replyNumber is legit, called the bank to confirm.
- Caller: JP Morgan & Company
- ejbutler replies to johnnyboyTHIS IS NOT LEGIT!!! I WAS CALLED BY THESE PEOPLE WHILE I WAS AT CHASE SPEAKING WITH A MANAGER. THE PERSON ASKED FOR MY ACCOUNT # AND WHEN I SAID I WOULD NOT GIVE IT TO THEM AND THAT I WAS AT A CHASE BRANCH THEY HUNG UP ON ME!! THE BRANCH MANAGER SAID THAT CHASE WILL NEVER I REPEAT NEVER CALL AND AS FOR YOUR ACCOUNT NUMBER. IF THEY CALL YOU THEY HAVE YOUR ACCOUNT # ASK THEM TO VERIFY THE ACCOUNT NUMBER!!! WHAT I WANT TO KNOW IS HOW DID THESE PEOPLE HAVE MY CELL # AND MY HOME #. WHEN I GOT HOME THERE WAS A MESSAGE FROM THE SAME PERSON ON MY HOME PHONE!!
- lrodLegit number. Someone got a hold of my card info and purchased something with it, total fraud.
- Caller: Chase
- eJaniceI have had trouble with my card for the first time and it was because of the Debit Card Fraud Prevention!!
My payments to sponsor children from Child Fund was denied and so all 3 payments weren't made, my Blockbuster payment, my Pogo payment, and payments to PayPal for my diabetic test strips were denied! I have spent more time correcting the mistakes of this fraud prevention so much so I am completely dissatisfied with the whole thing!! I just received a letter with the same wretched phone number 1-800-978-8664. What blows my mind is that previous months all reflect all the same automated withdrawals as EVERY one of these , just not a recent Paypal! What is the problem with these fraud prevention tactics? They have no reason, just overpaid ______ letting their imaginations run wild. I know this, the first time they allow an unauthorized payment to be taken from my account, I am going to sue them!!
Sincerely,
eJanice
