- R. SchumacherReceived a text message from CHASE Fraud: Did you perchase $29.17 at a fast food restauran on 03-02-2011? If yes reply 1 if not reply 2.
I did look at my account on-line and yes I did make a purchase but I called the 800 number the website under fraud through phone. It was actually legit and the customer service woman said that it was a random call because I had made a purchase that looked outside my normal purchases. We go out to dinner 3 times a week so it really isn't out of our norm! I am glad that I called to verify because of what they thought was a fraudulent purchase, CHASE had blocked my card. I wouldn't have known that unless I called it in.- Caller: CHASE fraud

- joe replies to RCODMIED| 1 replyIt is real. Someone stole my credit card info. The call was to verify transactions on my account. Great they stopped it in time!
- ChiTown replies to joeNot real if auto call at night and you do not bank with them. Do not give out info ever. SCAM
- DennisThis really is Chase. I made a bank-to-bank transfer from Chase and a couple hours later they called from this number to inquire about it (with the requisite specifics).
- Caller: Chase
- rgpkAccording to the Fort Wayne News Sentinel newspaper website, Chase reported to them this is a scam. URL Reference is:

Do not call the number back. Call your credit/debit card's customer service number located on the back of the card to see if there is a real problem. - phungyI called 800-CHASE-32 and they verified that this number (800-978-8664) was indeed their Chase Fraud Dept. So it is a LEGIT number!
- Caller: Chase Fraud Dept
- PThis is a valid #. The call will come from this number, but a legitimate callback # will be given if there is a problem (if you let it go to voice mail). They called literally 10 minutes after my daughter used her debit card to make a large purchase, which was definitely out of her normal spending range. I for one appreciated the call and made sure to call back immediately. Sometimes this is for your own protection, as was the case here.

- DanielThis is a REAL chase fraud prevention number. They called me and I let it go to vm and called the 1-800-978-8664 number back and they were asking for my full debit number so I got a little suspious and they told me to call the number on the back of my card. I called the number on the back of my card and they DID verify this number was from their fraud prevention dept and let me know one of the vendors I use my card on had their system hacked and my card number was stolen and compromised. He was able to tell me the last 5 transactions I had made the day before and they were all correct. They put a temporary limit on my ATM withdrawls and purchases and are going to send me a new card. Once I get my new card the tempoary limits will be lifted.
- Toots replies to RCODMIEDI received a letter stating the same ' chase fraud dept'......I however didn't call it. The reason? Well it was dated 3 days BEFORE my bank account got hacked AND money debited . It' was still pending Sat (18th) so went to bank and we'll wait to find out exactly who /how etc. Meanwhile when I got home ( because I know debits on accounts outside of your entering a pin number at ATM ) HAFTO have phone number next to debit..............I called it and got a recording < obviously being a weekend> they are closed, however how stupid to put an outgoing name of company. Turns out is' a 'donation, charity, outfit out of TX. I immediately called the police in that city and started to make a claim as I will have the SOBs jailed for fraud attempt. Meanwhile it's faster going thru my local police to make a claim, and they take it from their office faxing / inputing data here for the company there so the police there can do the 'arrest ' thing. This will move fast and I believe with my entire being they < the culprets> have been doing this long enough they will relocate < theyr'e also in Houston> and open under a different name. We don't give to charity's online.........always' in person < we go to the actual place to donate / don't trust anyone / any company anymore. Also being they are 'donation' they do lock into < hacking> to bank account. Aside from the obvious we wouldn't EVER DONATE FROM BUSINESS ACCOUNT....WHICH IS WHAT THEY HACKED . Last person who did the fraud is now sittin in Federal prison / I DON'T TOLERATE HACKERS, LIARS, CHEATERS, MONEY STEALERS OR ANYONE LIKE ANY OF THE ABOVE...I BECOME THEIR WORST NIGHTMARE.....
- Gus N replies to RCODMIEDEven if he is from chase you should nver give pin or ss n. It could be a thief that is working for chase fishing your details! I called chase and the lady said never give your pin or ss to anyone.

- Pat replies to JSeekerthats just stupid. to anyone else reading this call the number at the back of your card and ask for the debit card fraud department. see what number they give you
- Craig replies to RCODMIEDI got a text from 1-800-978-8664 saying my card was compromised. I called the number on the back of my card and was transferred to the actual fraud department. Yes, my card was compromised and this number is legit.. When in doubt call the number on the back of your card or from the Chase website.
- David BBoth my wife and I got emails, text messages to our cell phones, calls to our cell phones, and calls to our home phone, from Chase Fraud Department today. Both groups of messages stated that Chase had been notified that some unrelated 3rd party had possibly compromised our debit cards and that Chase was sending us new cards in 7-10 days. I called back on my wife's call to (800)978-8664 and it seemed legit and I discussed the problem with an agent, who did take the card # and then proceeded to rattle off recent transactions that are in fact on our account in the last few days.
When my card got its alert it seemed a little fishy so when I called back to the 800 # on back of the card, of course they have you key in the # and when I got a person and explained the issue, they transferred me to the Fraud Prevention department. The agent wanted me to read off my card # again and when I commented that I had just keyed it in so why did they need it, the agent said that the first person had done a "cold transfer" and that I could call back the 800# on back of the card and ask an agent to do a "warm transfer" to the Fraud Prevention department, which would convey my account information along with transferring the call.
I decided not to call back a 3rd time because after talking with the Fraud dept agent, the things he said in general made me feel that the alerts and cancellation of our cards is legit. We have alerts set on the account for any charge over 0.01 anyway and we're protected so I will watch and see....plus I'll make a visit to my local branch tomorrow morning and ask them to check if both my and my wife's cards indeed have been flagged. The Fraud agent couldn't tell me the kind of compromise - said that department isn't told but works to contact customers and alert them.
Hard to know how to prevent this in the future if the bank won't tell us which type of charge, to what merchant, possibly resulted in the compromise. They should inform us so we can avoid using the card with that merchant until the issue is locked down and further breaches cannot happen.

- 1-800-978-8664this is a legiimate number.i had mistakenly charged the same product to my chase visa card more than once(three times in fact, then canceled the orders right away)..CHASE caught on that i had done such and of course thought it looked fishy.they literally put a hold or freeze on my card til the mess was cleared up.i know that because until i call this number i couldn't use my card for two days..they tried to call and leave a message but i have no way of checking my voice mail as i've lost my phone somewhere ..they sent me a letter for that reason and i recieved it today.i called it using skype & i discussed the ordeal, they unfroze my card and i'm good to go..anyone who says this number is scam or phishing scam has some kind of a weird problem..i'd be real curious to know why they're trying to convince people of such..it only shows their effing stupidity.
