Thanks. - FairyJJust got a text from this number (80160) saying I have won a prize, and I should text back to find out what, or text STOP to stop further texts....
Not happy as I am on PAYG and have had to pay to speak to someone at T-Mobile to be told they will not refund any money taken by these thieves - but they have given me the name & contact number for them so I can try to get a refund (haha) and report them for unsolicited scam texts.

- Phillo replies to PavI just recieved a message from the text4gifts 80160 number. I opened it to see what it was and then called Vodafone. They tell me I HAVE BEEN CHARGED just for looking at the message and supposedly there is nothing I can do to stop the charge. They give a non guaranteed block on these types of message BUT NOT BY DEFAULT. The say I can send the STOP message but I will be charged for that and they offered to give me the company's customer service number which (you guessed it) I'll be charged to call.
DO NOT OPEN these messages and get your provider to block premium rate calls in. Vodafone dont charge you but it can take up to 30 days to activate. - Cyndy Jackson| 2 repliesI got one of these messages on my phone called my provider T-Mobile who have put a block on these numbers that charge me. Also told me to text STOP ALL to 700020178. They have also kindly removed the charge for the text sent to me £1.40, which I feel is excellent service. They have put a block on my daughters and husbands phone to stop these thieving arabs from stealing our money. I would suggest we all do the same and they would soon be out of business but also our providers should recharge them for sending unsolicited texts that cost the receipiant money. Maybe we should start a campaign to put a stop to them once and for all.
- AndySame message appeared on O2 phone. Going to use everyones advice and report it now

- REFUNDHere's what you should do to get ALL your money back from 08000MUMDAD:-
1. IMPORTANT - get your mobile provider to change your number AND bar premium rate SMS – push like hell and threaten to leave if they don’t because they make loads of money from premium SMS calls…
2. Send A VERY POLITE email to support@08000mumdad.co.uk or send a letter to 08000 MUMDAD Ltd, Suite 35/176, Finchley Road, LONDON with the following points:-
- Your full name, address and mobile phone number.
- Inform 08000 MUMDAD that the mobile phone belongs to you - an ADULT.
- Explain that YOUR phone was given to a CHILD for protection.
- Explain that you have NEVER given AUTHORITY or PERMISSION to use their services. Also explain that your designated CHILD has no authority to authorize charges against YOUR phone.
- Point out that UK LAW is quite clear on this point and that THEY should NOT have charged YOUR phone for SERVICE you DID NOT CONSENT TO.
- Ask them for a FULL REFUND at their earliest convenience.
3. Wait for no more than 3 working days then chase them again. If you're sending letters through the post, consider sending 5 reminder letters every day with no stamp! This REALLY winds them up because they'll get charged LOADS by the Post Office!!
4. Keep chasing and pushing until they relent,. Make sure THEY understand that their pain is your personal hobby. You have plenty of venom and all the time in the world to make them feel as much pain as you can deliver in law.
5. You may need to get really nasty and buy 100 cheap LARGE envelopes and send 10 a day (with NO STAMP) marked STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL with a blan piece of papaer inside. Revenge is sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!
6. If you stick by your guns and keep battering these scumbags, THEY WILL PAY UP!
7. If they send you an unsigned cheque (common trick), send it back with a covering letter asking for another cheque with £3 added to cover all the inconvenient they've caused you!
Don't get mad get even and have fun!- Caller: 08000MUMDAD
