They are legit.

Had them call a little bit ago and the woman (she was NOT a lady, nothing lady-like about her!) kept insisting that she wasn't selling anything, but doing research in our area.  I told her that I never do surveys over the phone & she repeated that she wasn't selling anything.  I told her I understood that, but I STILL do not do surveys - plus I have a disabled child that I needed to feed so I didn't have the time.  She was getting pushy and I told her just take me off the calling list - she hemmed & hawed & tried to tell me that wasn't necessary (or couldn't be done) and I told her she MUST do it or the company would be in trouble because even though surveys are exempt from the Do Not Call list, they still are required by LAW to remove you if you ask to be removed.  I told her I would sue if she didn't and she said "Oh, really?" like she didn't think I could & told her "TRY ME!!"  THEN she said she would remove me from their calling list!

Within 48 hours of getting unlisted number these idiots started calling again. We will now use Call Block and get rid of ever hearing from them.

it is actually real and they do send u the paperwork to fill out but it is a weeklong thing then on the last day of it they will call all day to remind u to send it back

call me what u will for putting something positive on something that you obviously know nothing about and yes they do call a lot and no i do not like that but classifying me with all other people in your life is offensive and you are no better than the email that you write

If you recieved a Nielson survey to become a TV ratings like I did, I filled it out and returned it.They are just calling to see if you had any problems and if you sent it back to them. So they are calling because you got something in the mail from them. That's my story, anyway.

They call several times every day and caller ID says Nielsen Ratings. I never pick up and it's very annoying to have all those calls every day.

I got a call from this number 813-366-9800 and caller ID said it was Neilsen Ratings.  So why would they hang up as soon as I picked up the phone?

It is definitely Nielson Ratings. It's a real TV survey. I did it by mail, I'm guessing they are calling again to do some sort of follow up.

Got a call decided to answer it she was very nice and polite. She ask how many tvs were in the home. how many had cable. If we had a dvr. my race. age group then she said that she was going to send me a tv diary for each tv and for me to keep up with what we watch on each tv. she said that there would be 30 dollars cash inside the envelope when we get it. So we will see.

This number 813-366-9800 keeps calling and wont leave a message. I think its some kind of scam, just like all the other scams that try to screw us every single day.

We've been getting calls from this number for at least 2 weeks. Caller ID says "Anonymous" so I don't answer.  My husband answered once and no one said anything.  They don't leave a message and call at various times during the day-- very irritating since I'm a day sleeper.

Its neilson tv ratings. They pay you to do tv surveys. I did it and got paid cash. Not a scam just a company wanting to know what you watch.

I've been receiving calls for about a week. Have not answered and no messages left. Just decided to check the net and found this post. It makes sense that its Nielson calling. We received a TV survey in the mail from them with 2 dollars cash in it. So, we completed it and sent it back. Just a couple days ago we received another survey in the mail with 30 dollars cash enclosed. So, now that I know its them, I will answer the next call. It might be slightly annoying, but so far they have given me 32 dollars just to waste a little bit of my time. Thanks for this post!

Answer it, they will give you money just for writing down what you watch on TV :) You'd also be playing an important role in TV ratings and what programs will stay on the air. (You may instead be chosen for their internet or radio surveys as well) They've been around since the 1930's.

Wow, so they'll pay a Black or Hispanic person more than a White or Elderly person? Sounds like racism and age discrimination to me.

Calls 3 or 4 times daily.  Hangs up when answering machine picks up with no message. My husband picked the phone up and asked them who they were.  Nielsen Ratings.  He told them to quit calling him and we're still receiving calls.

oh, I just got a call from this number and didn't answer. I guess I should have - I got a Nielsen survey in the spring, then a call a few weeks ago asking me to do a TV diary for a week (and yes, they sent me $30 cash wit it).  It is VERY LEGITIMATE.  I will definitely answer next time I see this number.  They are probably calling to make sure I got the diary and ask if I have any questions.  Nielsen is a highly respected media ratings company, and, as a passionate television viewer, I feel honored to be participating in their research.
