To my luck I did research and realized that there was no Black and Veatch Incoporation office location in my state.  Do your homework.

These are "Room for Rent" scams

The number used for a reference (206-666-4169) is in use by an Internet Scammer. It is a K7.net number, which is a voicemail service which will record your call and then send it by e-mail (anywhere in the world) to the scammer. If in any doubt then please make contact at www.scamwarners.com

I received a similar e-mail from a "Robert Wallace" from the e-mail rhugh71@yahoo.com. He said he was relocating from the UK and that he worked for www.globaltourist.net. He also listed his employer number as (1144) 0800-652-1938.

I went ahead and sent him a lease and asked for a deposit. Then, feeling a little off, I searched for his e-mail and found this page.

I really can't imagine why someone would go through all this? What does he have to gain? I'm certainly not going to allow him to WITHDRAWAL money from my account and I wouldn't pull the ad until I received money. What a nut job!

I just don't get it. Perhaps he's thrilled by wasting people's time.

The home is $675 per month with a security deposit of $675 also.  It will be avaible the first week of August.  The lease agreement is for one year.  It is not furnished.  I will need to go over and take pictures of the rooms when I can, as the current residents have not moved out.  I will get those for you as soon as possible.

The house has:  
   a large kichen, large den, large living room, a large bathroom in the hall, a medium-sized master bedroom with a small bathroom, and two additional small bedrooms, plenty of storage
   You will be in the middle of a farm but only 3 minutes from the grocery store.

Wow Im happy I found this site...Called himself Albert Keane from the UK Drug enforcement agent moving to the states. Lots of emails back and forth, Was gonna send money for my rental property on craigs list. I ended up googling him and found this site So glad I did.

I received the same letter from this guy.  Thanks so much for your website.  I was suspicious when he called his family "precious".  It reminded me of the "Lord of the Rings" movie and I got a really bad feeling when I read that word "precious".
Said he was coming to the US from the UK to work for the Department of Justice.  I was mad at first at our government, hiring someone from the UK with our unemployment at almost 10%.  Then I thought it might be someone from the department of HUD trying to catch us in a fair housing violation by "shopping" us, since they provided very few details about themselves.

Here is the coorspondence from Smith Taylor.  That is the name he is using today.  Apparently he has many.  I sure hope it is not our government, spending our taxpayers money trying to find a fair housing violation.  It could even be the ACLU!!

Smith Taylor from the UK today.  Can someone explains what he gets out of this?
When you call the reference - is he getting something out of it?  I believe if he is
just messing with people's heads he would engage in more dialog.  He stopped e-mailing
me when I asked some very basic non-threatening questions (i.e. the size of his family etc).
As with others the "too good to be true" set of my alarms in addition to the word "precious".
If anyone knows the possible "whys" please respond.
