- Richard121| 1 replyI have been charged £18 from this company which is Playpanther. It seems I replied to a text that I believed was linked to a purchase that I had made. Since then I have had 12 very annoying texts and today was told that they are charging me £4.50 a week!! Spoke to O2 customer services, very helpful, who told me that I had received 12 texts and sent one plus my STOP text to 85222 of today, and that I owed Panther play £18.
O2 have given me their phone number 0844 - 3722331 (cheaper on land line) and the number of their industry regulator "phone pay plus" 0800 500 212 also cheaper on land line. Hope this helps others who are perhaps as angry as I am this morning!! - Worried partner replies to Richard121My wife phone for which I pay has been charged 3x £1.25 every monday for the last 7 1/2 months unbeknown to me. Have just found out and i calculate i am at least £120 down . Fuming to say the least.

- Denise Robbins| 3 repliesHi, I thought the ad to win an ipad was an Apple site so therefore legitimate!!! Oh stupid me!! I am usually suspicious of these sites too but anything to do with Apple I have trusted. Many other people during my research into this scam have also been drawn in thinking it was from Apple?
I trusted it enough to give my mobile number as there was no mention anywhere of a charge for any of this. I had a text message immediately asking me to enter TABLET which I did. Before I could do anything I had another text immediately saying I would be charged £4.50 a week as membership??? I checked my balance and lo and behold this had immediately been taken out before I could send a text to stop any further emails and hopefully any more of my credit going out? A confirmation email was sent saying this would take 24 hours. On the advice of another victim of these revolting people, I contacted our local Trading Standards office and was advised to ask for their Terms and Conditions to be emailed to me, plus a refund. I emailed the company at mailbox:customercre@helpcareline.co.uk, who replied within 10 minutes asking for my mobile number in order to check their system and contact me about this matter!!! I have so far heard nothing back. Whilst I am a pensioner I am not stupid or easily duped! however it just goes to show how easy an authentic looking site can fool you? I cannot understand how this company can still operate like this? Surely, taking money without any consent, and I would NEVER have consented to a membership of any kind, are legally able to plaster themselves over a legitimate and normal website parading as, to all intents and purposes, Apple? Please do something about this. I do feel foolish and have learnt a valuable lesson. I am now left frightened though that they will continue to take my phone credit at will, regardless of my steps to stop them! I shall be very surprised if I get a refund but I want to do my bit to help keep this happening to decent people who cannot afford to lose money. I am sure no competitions actually take place regardless of their follow-up emails saying I have been entered for this and that and will get a special bonus, bla bla!!! Thank you for your patience in reading this and I do so hope you have teeth and can shut them down? Should I get no response to my email request for a refund and their Terms and Conditions, I intend to return to Trading Standards with the small amount of information I have gleaned and hope they can follow it up? I love my ipad but what world we live in where the enjoyment of using it has now become a worry! Thank you again, Denise Robbins- Caller: Freeplay.gamenow.org.uk

- Lynne replies to MikeDid you get it sorted. It's just happen to me
- Steve BartonThe company 85222 have charged me, on the company 3, for £81.00 from just simply receiving a text from said number. For those who are gandering on who this number is, I am not sure but I will look in to it, you must send "STOP" to the phone number 80160, as this will stop the billing. Normally the charge of receiving the number is approximately £1.50 this does tend to vary between phone networks. The source of which is unknown and how the company got the number to my mobile. My guesses would be that there is a system that every number in the network (eg: a section of O2 then a different section for 3) in chronological order will be sent an automatic message from said company (85222) and that, I presume, is how they get the phone numbers. Many numbers have the same effect, like the 85222, there are other 5 digit numbers that have the same effect.
Do make sure that if you do get any contact from this number make sure that you do the following and if needed look up the number. - Gary LingGot unwanted texts from this company
