Probably start with your service provider and PhonePayPlus the regulator.

I've just been sucked into entering my telephone number and replying with the word APPLE to win an Ipad to 85222. I intend to contact orange now to try and offset any charges to my phone bill. This is straight forward fraud. People are losing property by deception.

This was really useful information, which I urge others in a similar position to follow. I completed all steps below and have now been promised a refund within 30 days.

The 85222 text number relates to a company called IMI Mobile Group. Their number is 0843 2893092.

    Good luck!

Don't really know what I did but on 15th July I sent a text to 85222 which cost me 10p. (Virgin contract). That evening I was charged for 3 x £1.50 received texts. I now see I have the recurring texts every Monday since.
A total of £13.50 and I don't know what for.

Spoke with Virgin who told me to text STOP ALL to 852. Have received a text saying it will stop in 1 working day. Also phoned 0844 372 2331 and stopped them by automated service. Try and get my money back now I suppose.

I have had several amounts taken from my O2 account without my permission. The latest statement shows 4 separate Fridays  16/8/2013 - 6/9/2013 - total so far £18.00

    My account number is 15648780

Please advise how these payments can be stopped. I see on the website many others have been the subject of these scams. Should you not be blocking them. Will seriously consider changing provider when my contract is due for renewal. Any chance of the money being returned?
