- SimonI've had a text "WIN£10k!:Which is a UK stockmarket....." quiz type question just arrive, which I've not subscribed to either, so will have to report. I'll have to call the local police station if I don't get joy from ofcom etc and report fraud and illegal billing.
- SimonJust got the number to ring:
0800 500 212
Report the illegal charges to them. They are only open 8:00am to 6:00pm though Mon-Fri so I'll have to give it a go then. I was given that number by O2.
I intend to have something done about it too - not the first time I've had unsolicited charges from these scammers.- Caller: Scam Company
- Val Overtonyou've have been sending messages and videos to a mobile number...STOP IT!!!!
- WilliamJust got hit for £1.28 on 85222 spoken to Orange who are going to do something about it and refund me !!!!!!! asked how they got my number and was told that my number is probabley a recycled number and that previous owner may have subscribed to 85222 !!!!!!! now wait till next month and see what happens. Unfortynatly deleted text so could not tell my supplier who it was from, but i think they are aware of it.
- ClaireI have only just this week received a letter to say that the texts I got 2 years ago have caused the company to be fined £125,000 - I have just checked may latest bill - arrived today and I have one from this 85222 number - costing me £1.28.
Not happy as the last lot cost me about £10 and I cannot claim those back due to the time that has elapsed! These crooks need stopping and O2 were no help!! - iffyi have received the same text message about three time and there was no deduction form my account because i have zero pound balance remaining on my phone. i would need to unsubscribe to this message if i have by omition or commission subscribed to it.
- Scottish person| 5 repliesI was trapped by this scam too. HERES HOW TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK :
1 - text the words STOP ALL to 85222 ( you will then get some confirmation texts which are free)
2 - contact www.phonepayplus.org.uk or on 0800500212 (8am-6pm) to register a complaint against 85222.
3 - email customerservices@winplc.com (or call 01494 750500)outlining your complaint and the unsolicitated nature of the texts, state that you want a refund and give them your mobile number (they are the middlemen who can let you know the email address and contact number of the particular company who are sending the interactive messages)
4 - Once you have their contact details, send them a similar email outlining your complaint and give them an address where they can send your postal order too.
Getting this done was pretty straight forward and the companies replied to my emails within 4hours. I got a postal order within 4 days of my emailing.
I think its very important that if you are reading this because you got unsolicited texts - complain! and get a refund! these people must be making a fortune by getting a few pounds from thousands of people.
Best Wishes - PoozanThis company texted me without permission and cost me a lot of money before I understood what they were doing. I have now had to 'unsubscribe' from something I didn't subscribe to in the first place!
- badgerYep - I've got 2 but then they stopped of their own accord - maybe they are streamlining the alledged scam, little and infrequent. Or maybe they have realised their mistake or got a conscience!!!
- Essex girlI got a text today, followed by a service reply. I have been keeping a check on my credit, as it seemed to be going down too quick and found they had taken £1.50. I texted the number given to stop any further texts and received a free automative reply. This has not been the first time I have been caught, but never had any promlems until I topped up my credit at phones 4 U. I usually top up at an 02 shop. I have had the same mobile phone number for about 15 years, so it definately isn't a recycled number!
- MSTThe charge of £1.28 + VAT keeps appearing against one of out mobile phones
- NalinWhenever I get my mobile phone topped up it gets exhausted in no time!I discovered the problem is due to the text massages sent to me through the number 85222 to which I have never subscribed. Can any one suggest a remedy?

- TIMMy daughter just received txt from 85222 stating new top ringtones uploaded txt SONG to 85222 to get your tones. 1.50 per month and has already taken 1.50 from her credit. She spoke with O2 who said there was nothing they could do other than suggesting she should txt STOP Dont know how much that would cost. They gave company details as NETCONNECT and a contact number of 08451 309911. Dont be fooled by 0845 as not necessarily local rate. We are about to go on BBC WATCHDOG site and send in the problem. Can I respectfully ask that everyone does the same. These thieves, for that is what they are need stopping. Thanks
