After reviewing the FCC website regarding telemarketers, it is very apparent that you are in gross violation of at least two of their mandates.

    1.  You MUST identify yourselves via Caller ID when calling people's phones.

    2.  For example, it is unlawful for any person to make any call (other than a call made for emergency purposes or made with express prior consent) using any automatic telephone dialing system or any artificial or prerecorded voice message to any telephone number assigned to a paging service, mobile telephone service, or any service for which the called party is charged for the call. This prohibition applies regardless of whether the number is listed on the national Do-Not-Call list.

There is no need to reply to this comment, as I have the evidence on my personal cell phone that these two rules have been violated by your company. There are probably more, but I will be talking to the FCC about it tomorrow.

No, Paul, apparently it's your style to flagrantly violate the Craigslist (and likely other web site) Terms of Service and completely ignore the written stipulation at the bottom of every listing that says "it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests" while your robots harvest phone numbers from the listings.

It's also your style, clearly, to crawl the Internet looking for complaints and aggressively repudiating them.

Your feeble attempt to hide behind 501(c)3 is transparent, and pathetic.

Honest and honorable businesses (or charities) do not:

    1. Harvest personal information from other web sites in contravention of those sites' terms of use.
    2. Hide behind caller-ID blocking.
    3. Hang up when the phone is answered by a live person, in order to leave a voice message and force the mark to call back.
    4. Trash publicly those organizations who have given your business low marks for its practices.
    5. Need to have a person, such as yourself, apparently dedicated full-time to defusing complaints in every forum on the Internet.
    6. Hang up on callers when they complain or ask to speak to a supervisor.
    7. Misuse the provisions of 501(c)3 to personally enrich the principals.
    8. Misuse the "charity" designation to circumvent the Do Not Call registry.
    9. Threaten anyone who takes them to task on these issues with legal action.

Lastly, you know damn well that leaving your number on someone's voice mail is very different from not blocking it in the first place -- this prevents your marks from simply blocking your number from their phones.

    You are despicable.

I was told today that I've had "150 clicks" on my ad, but no results because there were no pictures.  I attempted to send pictures on days 14 and 15, but they didn't go through (probably too many at one time).

Anyway, what I'm curious about is where's the website address people can go to to view the inventory of vehicles available through AMS?  Sure, I can see my own ad, but I'd like to be able to compare it to others out there.

If there's no publicly available website to view the vehicle inventory, then how could their be "150 clicks" on my ad?

This website is supposedly where they place the ad for your vehicle to sell.  If it's not listed here, I would be calling them to find out where it's at.  Personally, I would be looking to recoup the charges here very soon.  Keep in mind, that if you didn't submit pictures within 14 days, they won't issue you a refund.  One of their "hidden" policies that no one seems to know about.  Also, you must get their letter notarized before you send it back.  However, the odds of you getting a refund are slim to none.  I would investigate this sooner, if I were you, and be prepared to contact the BBB to get this resolved.

I have no hope the Big Lot website will work.  $199 down the drain.  A lesson learned.

I want to thank all who have posted many complaints and comments on this company/ies.  I have been running a 501(c)(3) on top of my day job for 5 years now. We have purchased firetrucks, built a rural fire station and have donated to many charities. We do not cold call people via websites and all our personnel are volunteer.

Your company disgust me and distract from why not-profits were created for by IRS.

    Shame on you Paul!

I am trying to get some back ground on Auto Marketing Systems, can`t seem to find out anything on them, except that they are completely in violation of state and federal law in reguard to Nonprofit Business Status. May be it was a mistake but i just listed a vehicle with this company, and after hours of research i have not been able to find a website where my vehicle or other vehicles are listed. If they are scamming me, they sure picked the wrong person. If this is what they are doing, its sad to inform their employees that they can and will be prosecuted, in most cases, even quicker than their employer. As of the present day and age the courts don`t want to hear "I was just an employee trying to make a living", it just does not wash in a criminal court.

Chuck, there is no background on them except for complaints on the BBB website, their crappy website, and Longwood Inc.  They operate TheBigLots! website, and a couple of others.  If you did not follow their exact procedure, you will not be eligible for a refund.  I suggest you start calling them now about what is going on, and be prepared to contact the BBB in regards to this.  i wish you the best of luck!

Try looking at www.thebiglot.com for your vehicle.  Better yet, call them and ask them what website they have your vehicle listed on.  You have the right to have all of your questions answered.  If they refuse to answer these questions, start the proceedings now, rather than later.

Got my call from Brad of Longwood Inc, I did see the Number in my caller Id on My cell, but was busy and didn't answer.  I called back the number from the message, and Reached Debbie at AMS.  I asked her how she got my number, and she said Brad had found it on Craigslist.  my craigslist ad was to answer only by email, my yahoo (cars.com) ad required one daytime phone #.  Debbie was very nice but I told her to mail me info, because I already don't have a car that runs, why would I want to pay money to someone to sell my car for parts?

Never fear, folks the FTC is on our side!  They just passed a new law that will go into effect September 1st outlawing "robocalls"!  Telemarketers will NO LONGER be able to use them to contact consumers. Here is the link so you can see what I'm talking about, and with information on how to report companies that don't follow this rule after Sept. 1st.

hey guys. so i got a call from some guy at ams about them guarenteeing to sell my van for the 200 or 100 in the beginning. i asked them y not charge after and they said the same thing this guy is saying here. they told me to check the bbb and they are not accredited and as with everywhere else on the internet, there have been no positive posts supporting the possibility that ur company is legit. the main reason i am posting this is in regard to the cell phone issue. from my knowledge of phones, i know that the first three digits after the area code determine where the call goes through and what company it is registered to. call phone companies have special numbers so that there wont be confusion between house and cell phones. i have a 638 number that is registered with my cell carrier. so i would reccomend that longwood inc. or ams check the numbers before calling. i have called the company and they are sending me info about their service but i as with most others believe this to be a scam. they say they will post it on 2 websites which no one knows about for a price wen i can post on other sites that people dont know about for free. and there is craigslist. i am using
carsonlinefree.com, carsforsale.com, vehix.com and yahoo.com which are all free. ooh and im using craigslist.
i recomend u try these free sites. im hoping they work cuz i dont wanna spend money to pay for ebay. im poor as it is which is why im selling my primary scource of transportation.

Just wanted to say thanks everyone...we're trying to sell our vehicle because money is very tight, and we are sooo glad we researched this "company" before we invested with them--that would have been $200 that we really don't have down the drain!  Thanks again!

Also, after reading the link to the new FTC law, I don't think that AMS would be covered under this.  It says that charitable organizations are exempt from this law, and doesn't AMS/Longwood say that they are a charitable organization?  Therefore, I don't think this law is going to stop them from harveting and using phone numbers.

PS- What happened to you, Paul?  Haven't seen you for awhile.

I filed complaints with both the BBB and FCC for this number today.  I dont appreciate robo-calls on my craigslist ad which violates their terms of service as explicitly stated: "it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests".  Leave us alone longwood Inc.!

Strange call.....first rep. left me a voice message...I called and ended up talking to a different rep.....he told me I could deal direct with him from that point....sounds like a commission issue...anyway, he said he had buyers looking for my type of vehicle....great (I thought) until he asked..."what type of vehcile are you selling?"...so it went from "buyers looking" to "what type of vehicle"....both can't be right so I advised I'd call back...which I won't...not saying anything could be scam related but when questions and stories conflict, I get nervous.
