This isn't a scam, it's an inmate trying to call you either on purpose or by accidentally dialing your number by accident. I got a call from the number once and answered it worried it was someone I knew in jail, it was a wrong number and the guy apologized profusely.  I did some research to make sure it wasn't a scam and the company is legit. Jails contract with a few different companies for their inmates to make calls through. It goes out as collect even if they call across the street. This way the jail doesn't have to pay for phone service, they contract with these companies and the companies get paid every time an inmate makes a call. If you look up the phone number it's location comes up as the companies head office, not where the inmate is actually calling from. Also, if you listen to the recording all the way through there is an option to block calls from the correctional facility so if you are getting repeat phone calls, select that option. Also, not sure why the guy posting above me is pissed off he called customer service and they asked him for his name or phone number. They don't have ESP, they have to look you up some way to block your number. I know they can also look up the name of the inmate who placed the call so you can see if you know them or not.

I'm posting here because I missed a call from this number again tonight and had forgotten what it was too until I looked it up here. So yeah, not a scam. I have heard of a scam that involved inmates and collect calls but this isn't it. That has to do with call forwarding, simply pressing 1 to accept or 4 to refuse isn't going to harm you.

This isn't a scam, you're all wrong. My boyfriend is in prison and this is the company they use for phone calls. There is no scam, I should know I've used it plenty enough. The company is Telmate, perfectly legit.

This number called me at 5:59 AM!! I didn't answer but when I checked my voicemail it said to accept these charges press....having worked in the Criminal Justice system, it sounded like an inmate making a phone call...I have NO CLUE who it could be since I do not know anyone in the Washington area!

I'm really confused now, scam, service, real, not real, what do I think about this? Trying to think who it is, thought they were only allowed one phone call. Even tried calling the local jail(no answer) don't accept collect calls, but worried now who it is, or isn't.  Dam sure could do without this. I mean my phone is not to be used for games, and I sure ain't going to give my credit card info out to find out.  Sucks just sucks

Like others (above), for a muffled call. I know no person in jail.  No reason that is legitimate to call my phone member.  I can reasonably surmise that inmates have found a nefarious way to this service to my disadvantage.  WARNING TO ALL.

It is not a scam. It is the only way an inmate can make a call.... So,if you do not know anyone that could possibly be in jail then the inmate has the wrong number.

Who called me

I have received 2 calls in less than a week apart. I listened to the voicemail because I missed both calls and as stated above it is a recorded message stating to accept charges press 1 etc. Funny thing is I just looked through my call log and they are not in there at all. I didn't delete them so why do I have voicemail from a number that does not show up in my call log? I will be blocking this number and my gut tells me it is a scam. Check your call log and see if the number shows up.

David andrew peets is harrassing me and my family as well as uttering death threats. I had it blocked but he wrote to u and convinced u to uncblock it. If I block him he uses other inmates phone time to call me. He gets ppl to call me from the outside in edmonton. He calls some drug affeliated and he says tbese are cery dangerous ppl I don't want to mess with...so I better pick up my phone. I have had to press charges  he kidnapped me and handcuffed me and he he assaulted me on many occasions I fear this man. Started receiving these calls this evening from "Deer Ridge Correctional Institution in Madras.
Wasn't sure if it was my husband's friend who got transfered....or not and once I accepted the
automated message asked me to confirm by me....giving my birth year, month I was born and
last four digits of my social security number.....I hung up after that one!  I don't remember collect
calls going like that.

Just received this scamming phone call supposedly from an inmate from the Etowah County Jail.  First of all, I am a 70 year old widow, and nobody, but a few old women in Etowah County have my cell number.  They also know my land line, and trust me, if any of my rocking friends were in jail, they wouldn't be able to remember my cell  number, but they could find my land line number.  It's a scam and all those people on here who are telling you the 1-866-516-0115 call from a jail is legitimate, they are part of the scam.  Somebody should follow up on their IPS address.  At any rate DON'T BELIEVE THEM.
