I also received and didn't answer this call. VM captured recording about accepting a collect call from "this inmate." I don't know anyone in jail, but was afraid something may have happened I need to know about. Don't know whether it was an attempted scam or an emergency I don't know about. Very disturbing...

I don't even know what or who is calling me but is all like "Thank you for calling talmaid" or something like that

Called me kind of late. It went to voicemail saying an inmate wants to talk to me. I don't know anyone in prison that would try to call me. For people who say it's not a scam, why would anyone in the right mind give a cold call their credit card number like that over the phone?

They get as many calls as they can make during the hours that they aren't in their cells. I'm not sure what you mean by "make extra money" from making calls, I've never heard of that. Someone you know got arrested and is desperately trying to get ahold of you. That's all

Because Telmate is a well known company that handles inmate accounts and phone calls. Generally they'll let you talk to whoever is calling for a minute or two for free before asking for credit card info. You might not realize you know anyone in jail but they likely were just arrested and booked in before calling

I got this call at 10pm last night, 4:58 & 7 this morning. I don’t know who could be calling me from a correctional facility. I checked in my adult kids, (of course it wasn’t them).

received two calls from this number back to back. No one has my cell number but immediate family and they are not in jail.

A call from this number means that an inmate that knows you is trying to reach you and you should answer it because they are only given one free call.  After that you will need to set up an account with a credit card. They service multiple jails in different counties.

I received a call from a jail facility this morning asking if I would accept a collect call from an inmate. I hung up and googled the number. I called back and 3 inmates have my number! I do not know anyone in jail or anyone that has ever been in jail. They had my number blocked for me. Thanks Jackie, i was skeptical.
