- Player| 1 replyI get this recorded call and all it says is "this is aro calling with an important business matter that may concern you ...please call 1-866-667-3307 asap"....i have had at least one call from them every week now for the past month or so. so far i've just been ignoring these calls. they sure are annoying.

- Kristy| 3 repliesARO Inc. is a reputible collecton agency. This phone number is the direct line to the department collecting outstanding fines. If you get a call from this number it most likely means you have an outstanding fine in collections!

- amiIt is a collection agency,I know cogeco uses them.Thought I'd inform you, if they call more than 3 times per week it is considered harassment.They cannot call you more than that.They are also not suppose to call you until you have received a notice from them letting you know about the outstanding debt.

- noneLast few messages have not said ARO. They are a pleasant recording saying "hello my name is George would you please return my call at 1-866-667-3307" no mention of a file number or anything. Just a way to try and trick people avoiding them :)
- wrong party contactyeah, George called my house today too. Doesn't even say who the message is for.... and you're right- no notice... can you say: "debt collection act"?
Oh and to the person earlier with the advice regarding the 3 calls a week, you should read the Act... it's 3 unsolicited contacts... (voicemails, personal message, actual contact) but does not come into effect until they have actually spoken to someone at that number...

- Angry Lady!These people have been calling us for awhile now. They left a message with the persons name, number and extension but did not mention the company name. I called back and was immediately placed on hold for 10 minutes and then a person came on and said they were looking to speak with George. We told him there was no one living here by that name and we would appreciate the calls to stop. He then hung up on me.
Whoever these people are they better watch out before they have multiple law suits coming at them! - Jewel| 1 replyHi, I actually work for a different agency and if you try to call them back and inform them that its the wrong party they should stop calling. Just be patient with them as well and try to give some info like the number they called you at or your last name and if they find a file that is not you, tell them to stop calling there. They can't call again if you say that as per the collection act. Its most likely wrong info they received somewhere... thinking that you are the person they are trying to reach. If you just ignore it, they will continue to call that many times a week/day. Which yes is true 3 contacts is the limit a week unless other authorization is given. This contact means a message left or contact with a human on the line. Hope this helps your calls stopping too :)

- in KingstonIt is a Cogeco Collection agency. If you settle with them they will never send a letter of release and it takes forever for them to remove your name from credit reporting. Good Luck.

They just kept on asking me personal questions, like what's your b-day ,what your address .
I said we u don't need to know my b-day or my address to tell me what your business does and what it represent.
She did not want to tell me unless I gave her my personal information.

- Kenyep i get the same call a few times a week no name is given just a phone number and extension number dont know why a Cogeco Collection agency would be calling me i've never used them. What would be the point of calling them back if you get a recording. or why would they ask for personall information over the phone what are they trying to get ???

- annoyedunbelievable - calls 3 times a day, I have called and told the person I am not the person they are looking for and still....how do I get this cancelled?
- FrustratedThese folks called me and told me i owed $$$ on a old hudson bay account that I hadn't used or even thought about for over ten years, but I thought It could be possible that I made a mistake and left a small balance on the account and it could grow pretty big after ten years, so I called the Hudson Bay and they said that I don't owe them anything. ARO keeps calling. I tell them what the Bay told me and they say the debt is connected to my SIN and they're gonna keep calling until I pay. How can I end this?

- ASHARO has been calling me for months now I am single mom with 3 kids tried at first to work it out old zellers card from when I was 20 years old the woman on the phone was unforgiving had a death in the family told her I needed 2 weeks before I could make a payment and she told me she wanted it that week. was just my grandmother that passed told her I had things to pay out for the service she was like if I cant make my payment where was I getting the money for the service really rude. now they want the whole thing or my bank info to take the money out of the bank every month.

They are a collection agency and have the wrong person (we have the same last name as the debtor they are after.) I have called back and spoken to 3 different people who assured me that they have removed our telephone number from their database and that I will not be getting any more calls. I am going to start keeping records of their calls and my responses so that I can start a harassment suit against them. I am frustrated to no end!
Stephanie - wrong party contact1 866 667 3307 Originally called my phone # for someone that has never lived at my address nor that phone #, returned their call stating that fact, after the 1st call. Now they call, a Mr. Iverson @ ext 8003,on a daily basis "with an important business matter" - no company name. I have ignored it up to now knowing that I am not in debt to anyone and have no outstanding fines or warrants, but it is getting extremely annoying and after being put on hold for 10min. now to ask them to take my # off their list, even more so.

- BigAlWhenever they call they refuse to say what it's about. They want to confirm who I am first and want my address, birthdate, etc. What are these people, idiots or something? As if someone named Joe Schmo calls, and demands your personal info, and you're just going to give it in this day and age. Keep calling - you won't get an answer. A collector kept calling me back after I told them not to - I was living in Ottawa. I found out their office was in Mississauga. Collection Agencies Act or not, I called Peel region police in Mississauga, who agreed that they should stop calling. The police paid them a visit at their office, and threatened charges under the federal criminal code (not the provicial Collection Agencies Act) if they didn't stop.

- tom| 1 replyRude abonoxious arrogant- these clowns call a corporate office 5-10 times a week. I answer the phone with our company name and they hang up. we call them back and speak to some pee brain named allan. We ask ' what do you people do there why are you calling and the turkey says "we discuss personal matters" I ask..what does this mean...are you a hotline for distress or collection agency what do you do there-he than argues...Im not at liberty to say. We ask for a manager along with his ID. At this point he realizes his behavior and puts us on hold. You guessed it...no one comes on. So we call back and read them the riot act. Finally get hold of a manager and he starts to argument about how they spoke to this person at this number!! And this is a corporate phone assigned to a home office. Oh I get it...they must have broke in used the phone and set up a financial account. He than goes on to say..."the notes indicate this...." SO now I said...I guess the notes are only as good as the people that work there arent they? he stumbled...complete idiots a tough job Im sure. Not sure if anyone there has the ability to walk upright.
