Got 5 calls in about a 23 hour period. Sounds like a telemarketer from what i read. I used to be a telemarketer. Best thing to do is just answer and talk OVER them cut them off and tell them "Please put my number on your Do Not Call List" and that's it.. Don't get all rude and cuss at them thats just as annoying as being called.  Then 90% of the time they will  say "OK"   By law once telemarketers hear that  it will be that persons job if you say that and they dont do it. Most telemarketing call centers record every call anyway. To cover themselves.

Called me four times yesterday from three different numbers. All saying they were from Gold Credit Line. I didn't answer first call. Second call I answered and no one was there. Third call I asked them to take me off their call list and the fourth one my daughter answered and told the same company to stop calling us and to put us on their do not call list. They told her it would take up to 72 hours to comply with our request. It shouldn't take that long they should just stop calling!!!
These are the numbers that showed up on caller ID: 800-504-9280
    803-675-7485,866-710-8746.
I also registered with the Do Not Call List!!!!

I got the same phone call and they do have a website.  But I have never received a call like that in the past and I have credit in good standing so this was a red flag.  The guy tried to get me to give him my checking account information and routing number, claiming it was standard and that they already have it on file and just need me to verify.  When I said I was not comfortable giving it out and that I would call them back tomorrow after I did some investigation, this guy tried to press me, was very persistent, and wanted to convince me that this is all standard and that these numbers are secure.

That's when I KNEW it was BS.  A) a legitimate company would not be so persistent in trying to get my information right then and there when I said I'd call back the next day.  B) The guy kept asking what kind of investigation I'm going to do.  Very, very sketchy.

They call so much I saved their number into my phone and named it SCAM.  I've asked repeatedly for them to take me off their calling list yet they continue to call.  I have reported them too, but like everyone is saying: IT IS SO ANNOYING!

i got two calls from this number and then one from 410-777-5090 from the same company about improving my credit because i was denied from something or some [***].  i think they got my number from when i tried to do myfreexbox.com and then found out it wasn't free after giving my name and number.  I've gotten calls about winning a contest from a credit card or something as a result of the website.  Just sum telemarketing scam probably to get your credit card number and rob you.  I asked to be taken off the list and he said it could be up to 72 hours but i doubt they even take me off, probably just sell it to another company.

I am pretty sure that I got on this call list because I signed up for a free sample on line. I don't remember the name of the company, but it was something simliar to Publisher's Clearninghouse. They congratulated me for being entered into a contest for a trip to Australia, then said they were sending me two gold watches as congratulations, and then said I was going to recieve several free Magazine Subscriptions. The catch was that they wanted my "help" by paying for "just one" of the magazine supscriptions at over $3/week. I was raised to be polite and I myself work in a call center (not a telemarketing one - just for the record) so three times I've answered. The first time I lost my cell phone signal, the second time the agent got so frustrated with me because I kept politely saying I was not interested in a magazine subscription, and the third time I indicated at the start of the call that I understood why they were calling but that I was not interested and have a nice day.  That was weeks ago. Now all of a sudden I have calls from this company showing up at least 2x a day - this has been going on for about 3 days or more!

I got a call today and no message was left, so I called back and they said i filled out an application to fix or rebuild my credit. When I said I did not do such a thing, they said, thank you, and hung up. I am not sure how they got my number.

After weeks of being called by 800 882 9497, finally reached someone, blew off at them, and he said they will stop...taken off their list.  Now, a new number, same scenario. 866 710 8746 ....
Does anyone know how to find the provider of this number.  We, then could complain to that company, over and over until they do something.  Also, if you Google that company over and over, they will have to pay google for the hit on their site...if ya cant beatem ya have to fight fire with fire....please anyone, find out what company is supplying their number....I tried to google it, but there are numerous  phone companys selling 800 service.  I know I could hit em up a few hundred times a day.

This company started calling me today on my cell phone. After the 3rd call where what appears to be an automated dialer hung up on me, I lodged a complaint with the FCC. They called again in the afternoon. I didn't bother to answer, but I did call them back when I had a moment, informing them they were illegally soliciting to a wireless device and I wished to have my name and number removed from their calling list. The "sales" guy broke in and told me they were not soliciting and then proceeded with his sales pitch about a credit rebuilding program and how my application had been approved. I haven't applied for anything, had already been on this site to research the number earlier in the day, and knew they were breaking the law to begin with. So I interrupted him, told him he wasn't listening to me and I wanted my number removed, I was not interested in anything they had to offer, and to not call me ever again. The rude S.O.B. said I wasn't listening, that they had approved my application and they were not doing anything illegal. At which point I lost it, told them I had already filed a complaint with the FCC and if the called me again would sue them for harassment. I asked if I had made myself clear enough, and the guy had the audacity to CONTINUE WITH HIS SALES PITCH! At which point I hung up on him. 45 minutes later, they called AGAIN! I filed a second complaint with the FCC and I'm now researching to find out if there are any class action lawsuits against the company yet. Any lawyers interested in taking it on? I also

Forgot to include the FCC form info, at least to complain about wireless abuse. It is Form 1088G and you can fill it out online, reachable by either the do not call registry or through the FCC website directly.

    Mike - SUCCESS! (so far)
A SUCCESSFUL (so far) follow-up to getting rid of these people. To follow-up with my last two posts, I believe I've found the solution. They called me again (second time after I told them to remove me in the same day), and I was steaming, especially since they called while I was filling out the second FCC complaint! I called them back, very firmly informed the salesman they had called  my cell phone 8 times that day and I had requested them to never call me again, and I had already filed 2 complaints with the FCC. I spoke slowly, clearly, and firmly (I'm military, I've had practice... if you aren't scaring yourself, it isn't firm enough!) I then asked if he had my number, to which he of course replied yes because they use caller ID too. I sternly told him to remove it. He said," Yes sir." I then told him if they called again they would see me in court and asked if he understood. "Yes sir." Then I hung up. That was 2 days ago and I've not received a phone call from them since.

What I have learned since then: My legal "threat" was no bluff but I wasn't sure how to actually take legal action, so I did some research. Wish I had known some of this info before this all happened, but maybe it will help one of you. First, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) of 1991 allows you to sue in small claims court any telemarketer that continues to call after you have requested to be removed from their calling list. Each subsequent call (minus one "oops" call) carries a fine of $500 payable to the harmed consumer (yes, you). I.e., if they call you 3 times after your request to be removed from their list, the fine is $1000 (3 calls, minus the oops, times $500). There is a burden of proof on the consumer. You need to keep a call log identifying the company name and time of call and you need to get them to give you an address (web or actual), and preferably the name of a company officer. Get a web address and it will usually give you everything else you need. Also, request a copy of their do-not-call policy and list (if they fail to provide their policy, they can be sued for that as well), giving them sufficient time to provide these as hard copies (a few weeks). Log every subsequent call from the same company. File a complaint with your local court clerk (many states have the form available online now!) and keep all your records as you'll need them the day of court. It usually costs less than $50 to file and is easier than it sounds.

Mike has some very good information in his post, but I wanted to add something. The fed Do Not Call registry only prevents unsolicited calls. If you put your phone number on a piece of reply advertising, you are authorizing contact to your number and the Do Not Call reg does NOT apply. "But I didn't sign up for anything with XXX company" ... no you probably didn't ... BUT, read the fine print on things. Some materials say "We will share your contact information with other parties who may contact you unless you opt-out." or something like that. That extends your authorization to those undisclosed companies as well. Make sure that you WRITE on each piece of correspondence or reply advertising that you DO NOT want your contact info shared with any other organization or company, and make sure to check any opt-out box (or un-check any opt-in box). Otherwise filing FCC complaints is useless, and lawsuits would be dismissed, because the defending company would simply provide the source they obtained your contact info from, complete with YOUR authorization to do so. The best thing to do is, DON'T put your phone # (or any personal info, for that matter) on any document that will not be held confidential under the privacy act. If in doubt, don't!

By the way, I found this thread because I'm getting calls from the same 866 number :(  Yea, I learn the hard way.
