    Wamu Customer
I received an electronic voice call from (866) 926-8937 stating that by listening to the call I was the person who resides at this address, and that it is an attempt to collect a debt, and any information provided will be used against me.  The (866) 926-8937 appears to be legitimate as it does appear on their web site: http://www.wamu.com/customer_service/contact_us/phone_address/default.asp .  However, I called WAMU and spoke to a teller (not an easy thing to do with WAMU) who checked for any overdue balances on my accounts and found none.

This is obviously a fraudulent phishing attempt to collect unsuspecting WAMU customer information.

    Concerned WaMu customer
I received a letter in the mail from WaMu asking for SSNs etc.  For any questions, I could call this phone number.  Sounds very dodgy as WaMu would have my SSSN since they did my loan.

Received a call from this number at work and home. I ignored it at work and looked up the number here! My wife called me to say she had spoken to the person who was trying to get us to pay by phone. We have an automated payment via chase online which they will receive tomorrow, so it was moot. My wife pressed him and found out the "faster" phone payment would have been $15. They must be having major cash-flow issues.

Come on people, the idea is to make the payment BEFORE it's due.. so when you're late as so many people are now days, surprise surprise, Wamu wants their money. they want to make sure you're still going to pay the bill.  Why do you think they went under & the US, had to bail them out... BECAUSE OF PEOPLE LIKE YOU.  Wouldn't you call someone if you loaned them 50-100k for your trailer or double wide and they never pay when they said they would?
Everyone wants a handout, everyone wants an excuse when you are harrased... oh, excuse me.."asked to pay the bill like you said you would"

No wonder this country is becoming hispanic.. they're the only ones that want to REALLY work.

Our Ancestors came in, kicked the Native Indians to the curb and took their land. Now the Hispanics are doing it to us, and we says it's not fair... Boo Hoo.

    Paybacks is what I say.

It is really WaMu, They call constantly when you are late or even slightly late. They normally are cooperative as long as you are able to work terms out for payment. It is tough to get these calls especially with the way the economics are today, but dealing with them in a calm and direct manner usually buys you some time.

It is obvious that this is some outsourced call center in India or the Phillipines. The people that have called me barely speak english.

We have WAMU accounts bit are not late. I got a call saying we were late and the lady needed info. She had my address which is a rental house so it was creepy because I knew it was a scam but she already knew a lot. Her caller ID is a real WAMU number but you can't speak to anyone without giving too much info so I hung up. WAMU needs to address this and get a number for complaints. DO NOT speak to these people! It's a scam.

Just got a call from these guys who woke me up on my Saturday morning. WaMu has the second on the home I bought 2 years ago. Incidentally the home has depreciated about 25%. I've called WaMu 5 times in the last 6 months asking to renogotiate the terms on my loan - considering times are tough and the home has depreciated about 25%. Everytime I call, they refuse to discuss renegotiating with me because I am current on my payments. They tell me that in order to be "considered" I have to be at least 4 months late.

So - I'm taking these [***] at their word. I'm not paying. In a day when congress grabs their ankles for greedy lending institutions and every other house on my block is being short sold why should I pay on a loan amount that doesn't exist? If these [***] want their money they can try to evict me -- but wait, they'd have to payoff my entire first (80%) in order to own the house. You think these bean counters are going to spend 320k to get their 80k???

Hey WaMu, this is my middle finger to you and your third world call centers! Merry Christmas.

They have continued to harass me at my house, calling 6-8 times a day weekends included. I have never done business, nor would i now.  They have continued to harass me and I have filed complaints to the Better Business, Consumer Affairs, National Do Not Call Center and am working with the Annoyance Bureau as well as local police and FDIC, to stop the Wamu harassment.

We have gotten many calls from this number, whcih is a collection department for Washington Mutual based in Costa Rica. This number is listed as a customer service number for their home loan department on their website. this is the only ousourced department in WaMu. Funny thing is... our loan is current, and is also on an auto withdrawl payment. They are very unwilling to give up their info, but want social security numbers and loan numbers from you. I would not be willing to give any of this information to them. I am going to file a written complaint with WaMu and also with any regulatory branch that I can find. I am very suspicious of this number.

These people call us as well.  We have a mortgage with WaMu.  If we do not make our payment within the first week of the month that it is due, they call us to ask for payment over the phone and/or to schedule one for a certain day.  If we don't do that, they keep calling.  We have explained to them that we are happy to pay the late fee if we pay after the 16th day,(in the contract).  They don't care, and continue to harrass us until we mail in our payment.  We have even wrote letters to WaMu asking the to please call ONLY if we are over 30 to 60 days late, but they don't respect that either.  Refinancing our home with them has been one of the worst decisions we've ever made.  I don't trust these people with our personal info.  Can't wait until we can go to Chase bank right down the street and make our mortgage payment.  I hate the thought of being connected to a company that I do not trust for another 25 years. These people need to be prosecuted if possible.  Good luck everyone, you're gonna need it.
