Got a call from this number. Caller had a thick accent and sounded very uneducated. He knew my name and said "I'm looking for Sammy davis." I aked who he was and he hung up!! I appreciate this site because this was my first stop to look up the number.

I also get this call. I didn't answer that but then called wamu directly and they didn't know anything about it.

This call is coming from over seas not here in US. They change the number but not the name Out of area

got a visit from some guy - trying to look like an inspector.

he says "Hi, I am from Washington Mutual and I am just checking on occupancy - are you the home owners?"
I said "yes"
and he then handed me an envelope/door hanger with my name hand written on it  -
then says he would be looking around outside then be on his way.
I closed the door and then opened the envelope to find a strip of paper (it's the bottom of a piece of paper very sloppily cut into about a 1" strip) that says (in *very* small print): "TO: (my name)
AT THE REQUEST OF WASHINGTON MUTUAL HOME LOANS, INC., AN INDEPENDENT INSPECTOR CALLED ON YOU TODAY. PLEASE CALL OUR HOMEOWNERS ASSIS TANCE [it was spelled with the incorrect spacing on the actual note] DEPT AT 1-866-926-8937
then in very, very tiny print at the bottom of the scrap of paper it says: "copyright © 2004-2009 Lender Processing Field services. All rights reserved. Rev 11.08"

I was thinking that it was legit at first, since I am about 2 months behind on my payments, but then I remembered that my mortgage company isn't called WAMU any more - they are Chase. Everything I get from them says Chase on it now and has for a few months.
And the fact that their was a strip of paper that had misspellings on it - just seemed a little fishy. I haven't seen anything attached to this number that makes it seem legit in my google searches - and the fact that someone got this same thing on their APARTMENT door (page 5 of this website) seems really fishy.

Just wanted to put this out her in case anyone else gets any visits from these guys. It's very easy to look up county records and find out who someone's mortgage company is...  I imagine that is what these jokers did. And plan on conning me into letting them "help" me get current on my mortgage when I freak out and call the number. But I am already in the process of doing with my mortgage company already - I hope no one falls for this crap.

I got this same thing today! Unprofessional typed letter with no name or anything.

They also work for BoA now. Very unprofessional. The letter that was delivered to my house was not on any "official" letter head (it was in fact, on very cheap copy paper and something I could have whipped up myself in about 5 minutes), the letter came in an envelope -again no company logo on it- and it was handwritten to my husband and myself with the word "confidential" on it. It looked like something a 3 year old had written.

The guy at the door didn't even know what to do when my husband informed him that he would not speak about his loan to anyone that just came to our door. There is a report out there about them "tagging" a house after delivering papers, with spray paint. Very disreputable company.
