Same thing, said it was from an inmate and then I hung up.  No one I know is in any kind of prison.

This number called my cell phone.   When I called it back, I was prompted to enter my phone number.  I could not get to a live person to find out what the call was about.

This obviously a scam. Do not give them any money

I got a call this early this morning around 1:30 a.m. but did not answer it. Checked voice mail message and it was requesting to press 1 to accept charges. Called the number this am and you're exactly right it is to the Correctional Billing Office.

I got a call from this number and once I heard correctional facility I hung up. I'm not even 18. It scared me.

They called my cell, I didn't answer. Looking at the list here, I'm glad I didn't. I'm not about to call them back, because when you call a number like that, they automatically have the number you call from, and may have the name and can also get your address. THINK before you call 800 numbers back. Like I should have thought more before I POSTED this. LOL.

Received this call from someone in prison - don't know anyone in prison and never have.

I got a call from 866.941.6004 and was not able to answer call, but when I returned the call they answered, "Correction Billing Service."

Just got a call from someone in my county... turned out to be a wrong number, fortunately. I got a call back to set up an account, but not for me, not this time.

I'm surprised at all the people saying they don't know anyone in jail. Do you know where everyone you know and love is every second of the day? Bad things happen all the time. "Not MY friends!" Anyone could end up in jail having to make that humiliating phone call. Jail doesn't mean guilty or innocent, it just means someone waiting to go through the courts to be arraigned or charges dropped or bailed/bonded out. I'd imagine it's a very lonely place to be, especially if all your friends and family hang up on you because of their own pride.

Be careful of your credit card numbers, but show a little love. Everyone makes mistakes, and anything is possible.

Husband just received a call from this number, recording identifying themselves as Will county correctional Institute. He hung up...we don't know any jailbirds!!  We are located in Illinois.

I got these calls when I had a new number. I just had tp have my number changed and am getting them again. I think they are trying to call whoever had my number before me.

Your friend is not in jail.  these are scam calls.  Report the number to the FCC.

Yes they are. It is a common scam for people to call and state that a family member or loved one is in trouble/jail etc. etc. and need money asap.

It's a SCAM!!!

I tried to set up an account with this 'correspondence' service but was on hold forever and airtime isn't cheap!  Got this number again last Saturday (Nov. 19th).  Ever since I tried to set this up and changed my mind I get calls now for future hookup attemps.  I know someone in jail and would love to talk to them but can I trust this.  I'm not giving personal info over the phone to people I don't know so there has to be some other way...
