THIS IS NOT A SCAM!  I received a call from this number this afternoon.  I called my credit union to see what it was about.  They told me that it was the fraud department for the cards that they issue.  The phone number that they had on file was the same as the message I received.  It was the company that my credit union contracts with for fraud detection on its cards.  I'm very glad that I called. After we figured out that it was am actual purchase I made today, they unblocked my card for me.

This is not a scam call. I was reluctant to call this number (877-253-8964) back and wanted to check the phone number on the whocalled.us site. The page was slow loading so I just typed the number in the search engine and saw this site. Glad to read the above person's response which made me call immediately.

The credit union is closed today and I couldn't get a live person even calling the lost debit card number. There were two charges that I did not authorize. Thankfully, they caught the charges! My card will be blocked until the credit union reopens after the holiday.

But what if someone is spoofing the number?  3 "It's Legit" posts in a row, and based on 14 pages and 250+ posts, I am believing this number is being spoofed much of the time.

People who get a legit call do not often come to a look up site to post about their great experience as in many of the prior posts. And usually the number on the back of your card will get you a person 24/7.

This is a fraudulent call. Do NOT call them and block the number.

Possibly legitimate, said there was unauthorized activity on my account. I found no activity on my account, but they cancelled the card anyway. Had to call my bank and order a new card, been waiting now for three weeks. Out of state and need my card now!!!! If they ever call again I'll tell them to either leave it alone or mind someone elses business.

I phoned my bank customer service and explained what many of the above whocallsme commenters have said (that this number is legit and generated from their bank's fraud dept.) and I was told emphatically that they did not reach out to me, period. They were able to supply all detailed notes of my actual transactions + phone calls. The bank's agent said this was obviously phishing (adding the appropriate warnings to not return the call and not provide any personal information).

If anyone gets a call that shows up on caller ID as  (877) 253-8964 United States just know that it is a spoofed call = scam, sham + flim-flam. Don't pick up and don't call them back.

Rec'd both text and phone msg advising attempted use of my debit card. However the call back number was 877-253-8962 not 64. The 8962 number is a legitimate third party company that handles fraud alerts. I called my bank (DFCU) and they confirmed and connected me to this company. I was told that there were 9 attempts to use my card for $0 dollars. They were able to immediately cancel the card. If in doubt contact  your bank or credit card company FIRST.

Agree. Never just willy-nilly make contact with anyone you don't know. Its best to FIRST call your bank or credit card company. They will confirm the fraud alert and connect you with the 3rd party fraud alert company.

I don't believe those saying that the call was safe, they called before saying that my Social Security number had been illegally used and it was a crime for me to hang up, I pushed the button to talk to one of their so-called government agents, whose accent was so bad I could hardly understand him! I told him what I thought of scammers like him and told him to go to Hell! I think that those posting that this is safe are the scammer themselves and wouldn't trust them! Their number is blocked and I reported them to the police!

You are absolutely correct! No one takes the time to look up "legitimate" numbers. Not only that but "Joe H" isn't even in the right thread so what is "he" doing here? Spreading lies about the calls from this number, that's what.
