- LFCaller ID: "Toll free". "American Agency" would like a call back at 877 728-8912. "Not a sales pitch". No thanks.
- TINAPretty much the same thing...only it was my past due bill. I had recently started cleaning up my credit from my past adolecent days. I contacted all the credit agencies...They were one by one sending me letters and calling for payment. They called at the right time and I paid them one of the bills...once the real guys called and I explained I had already paid, I had to cancel all my bank accounts. They still call me to pay only when I tell them I've already paid and want to speak to a manager they hang up on me. If you know how to get your money back post it PLEASE.
- PolodogI keep getting calls from this number, one per day. At first it was a woman identifying herself as Mary but now it is a different woman named Charlotte.
Both have Indian accents.
They never state their business or reason why they need to speak to me.- Caller: Did not state
- Ex Cali dudeThey called me but had my personal info, call the police if they call you.

- SKOur office auto attendant gets these calls several times a day. We delete the messages, but it's very annoying.
- AnonymThese [***] don't negotiate as much as others... Pay off EVERY SINGLE ONE of your other bills with other creditors as they are willing to work with you much more than the jerks at American Agencies...
Also, these [***] are sending OUR JOBS overseas!
Don't pay don't pay don't pay!!!!!- Caller: American Agencies Sucks!
- LuciusWell, now I'm really confused. Is this a legit creditor that I owe a back bill to or is this just a scam? I may owe a bill or two from my past but they never leave a message. They call up to 5 times a day. I'm unsure to give money to them if they aren't legit??? Thoughts anyone???

- limelightThey are a scam. Same thing they say I owe an old phone bill from pacbell for $800. This is BS they said if I made a payment by credit card they would charge me a $5 processing fee for every $150. Then they said BUT if I pay by electronic check it was only $1.50! They were phishing for my bank account info. And the scary thing is they already had all my other info. They just needed the final piece, they must have stole info from pacbell somewhere in the merger.

- AnnoyedInCAI called this number (after receiving 2 messages a day for the past week). The person I spoke with said this was a collection attempt for pac bell from back in 1998. We had a account, but it was always paid on time. Account has been closed for about 9 years. They said we owe $408.23 (orif. $146.03). DO NOT PAY THESE PEOPLE unless you verify the debt with the supposed original company!!!!!

- KHSI've been getting voicemails on my cell phone from "American Agency" for a few weeks now. They are very persistent since they are a collection agency, so I just called them from a land-line. They were very nice and it turns out they had a wrong number. You'd think they would get the message when my name comes up in my greeting and not the name of the person they were trying to contact! I was a little irked that they did not identify what the call was about in the message. All very cryptic.

- blackIf you do not recognize a number, do not answer your phone. If nobody ever answers these calls, they will stop. Do not call them back or become upset. These calls are a ploy by the cell phone providers, propogated by the sale of our phone numbers to anybody willing to pay for them, to increase usage, and therefore increase charges and provide them justification for more bandwidth allocation. If nobody ever answers these calls, then the calls will not generate the desired effect. The calls will then become an expensive liability to the callers, and they will be forced to stop.
If somebody calls you from a number you do not recognize, and it is important, they will leave an important message. Then, you can call them back. - EvilCALiberalsI've done my part and filed a complaint with the FTC. Here is my response. Why not have everyone here file the same complaints and post their results and get these guys stopped! Just go to: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx

- Lorraine BloomLeft a message on my answering machine for Maria, no one in our house with that name.
- Lorraine BloomBTW they left the message on our land line not on our cell phones
- Yo MamaThese duffases keep calling our house and saying they need to speak to us on a very important matter. The lady spoke to my 12 year old daughter and ask her to take this number down and to have me call them back as soon as I got home. Well I didn't...I looked on here first to see if this number was linked to something shady, and as I can tell it is. These people need to stop. I want their home phone number so that I can call them and bother their family during dinner and quality family time.
- AnonymousThey called here stating a bill from At & T from 2002, funny I didn't even have a home phone at that time, only a cell with was not through AT & T
- Caller: American Agencies
- JaredI keep getting calls from them. I called them back to find out what is going on. They asked for the last 4 of my wife's SSN and I refused, and they got ancy.
So I have filed a claim with the FTC. See what happens. I just want them to stop calling. 2 and 3 times a night is ridiculous!- Caller: American Agencies
- michelleThis weird guy keeps calling me with an accent. I think his name is Rake...if I understood correctly. I just read the above comments, and I do remember someone calling me months ago on an old Pac Bell account bill. It was from the 90's. I do not trust these people and further more even if I did owe from way back then, wouldn't it be on my credit and long gone? Scary people. Is there a number we can call to block this number?

- GonzoI've been getting these calls for weeks. I screen all calls thru my caller id, so I never pick up when I see the number, but they always leave an annoying message. I finally called back and got through pretty quickly. The heavily accented woman answered and asked how she could help. I simply gave her my phone number (since they already had it) and told her to stop calling it. She then asked me to wait, while she looked it up, (it only took a minute) then asked if (my long ago ex-wife) lived at this number and I told her no. (I should have given them her number. Lol! But I would have told her no, even if she had mentioned my name.) She then said that she would put my number on the do-not-call list and that it would take up to 48 hours for the calls to stop. A lot easier than I thought, or at least I hope it was. If they don't stop, I guess all I can do is file a complaint with the Do-Not-Call registry and see what happens then. They ask you to tell the people to stop calling first, before you file a complaint. I'll let you know what happens in a week or so.

- laugh_at_themI keep getting calls from them too. They are trying to collect on an debt that is 10 years old. I laughed in their face and told them to kiss my a**. Please do not fall for these people. If the account with the original creditor is over 7 years old they can not include this on your credit report. Also check with your state on the statue of limitations on collecting on a debt. What I really thought was funny, was that they are trying to collect on a cellphone bill from Sprint from 10 years ago. Well even though I owed Sprint this money they still opened another account for me 4 years ago. I never paid the old bill and they still took me on as a customer again.
If you call them back be prepared for the thick accent. They are called American Agencies but the people are not from America.- Caller: American Agencies
