We received a phone call from Jack Carpenter of Crystal Moroney Law Firm in New York, phone # 888-222-6023, asking for our son who is a college student.  He wasn't at home, and I asked what this was regarding, and he would only tell me that it was a legal matter regarding his college. I explained to him that we were authorized to handle all of the financial matters, but he refused to talk to me, telling me to have our son call him back.  I looked the Law Firm up online and found that they are a debt collection firm.  I immediately called the college and spoke with the financial office and verified that ALL of our accounts are in good standing.  I suspect that this an attempt to commit theft by fraudulent means, and have reported it to the Do Not Call Registry as well as our state's District Attorney's office, and the United States District Attorney's office.  Our son does not have any other credit cards, has made no purchases and owes no money to any business or school.  He is registered with Life Lock and they have no record of any collections against him.   The website for Crystal Moroney is:  http://www.crystalmoroneylaw.com/About_Us.html   It is interesting to  note that this law firm is "a woman owned, operated and managed law firm," yet it was a man who called our home phone number.  We have not contacted them in any way because we don't them to have a record of our phone numbers or email addresses.  The address for the law firm is:
Law Offices of Crystal Moroney, P.C.
    119 Rockland Center, Suite 390
    Nanuet, New York 10954

I received a call from a blocked number saying I owed $245.00 for unpaid college funds. My financial standing with my school has always been good. The man on the phone said he was with law office crystal moroney. I looked them up and it appears to be all women at the firm, but a man called me. He gave me this number to call when my debt was paid. It all seems fraudulent to me. No way am I about to give up my hard earned money without looking into it first. I am a wife, mother, full-time employee working on average 42 hours a week. All on top of finishing my master  in nursing. I'm only 25, but I'm not that gullible.

I got the same exact phone call on the same exact date. The man said I needed that exact same amount $245 and I can pay online he demanded I gave him an exact date when it would be paid by. I also have no balances with any college I attended.

This is Bradley Rephen's operation, this is the name they are now using. If you google that name you will understand exactly what is happening.

yes,  it sounds familiar there are other bills that a student can have at a college. My son owed the book store for a rented book that was damaged and the store then charged him for that book. i was not aware of  the charge that was initially 59.00 and now I own 207.00.

Got a call from this number wanting money for my college. I called my school and they said I didn't owe them anything, and now this "Law Firm" keeps harassing me! It's all from the same woman too--Lesley Monroe. I told them until they provided me legal, black and white proof they weren't getting a dime.

Are these guys even trying anymore? Their office is in a suburb of NYC yet everyone who works there has a WASPy name, not one ethnic sounding name from anyone. Give me a break.

Got a call from a Samantha Miller from Crystal Moroney law firm on May 9th and again today.  Gut feeling said I should google the phone number she left 888-223-6620. I found 2 complaints about the number but was not sure then I googled Crystal Moroney and found all these complaints.  I'm glad I didn't call her back.

The number and whole operation is a fake. They just called me asking to pay a fine for a "rented over due book" ... $158. Not a penny given. Tell them to take you to court. They wont. The End

Got a call today from a BLOCKED number, it was these people.

I said I wasn't me, as I never get blocked calls and was skeptical. I asked what it was regarding and she said she had a file she could only hold until tomorrow and I would need to come in and get it (after telling her I was taking a message for the person she was calling for)

So here's the truth. It is a law firm www.crystalmoroneylaw.com and yes they do come after people who have written bad checks and taken goods and services with out paying for them, by issuing a worthless check. Last time I checked stealing and writing bad checks was illegal. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe this isn't America any more? Any way you folks want to write bad checks that's fine it gets reported to your credit report and they usually put a freeze on any bank accounts until this is resolved. Same goes for those students that take book that they didn't pay for. Looking for that diploma? Not until you pay for that book you took.

This is just what happened to us! My son owed money on rented text books, 3 of them,138.00 and I dealt with the bookstore thinking the issue was resolved. Recently got a phone call from the Law office Of Crystal Moroney, some guy named Scott Smith saying we owed $648.00. and he was very pushy and rude...I demanded a bill sent through the mail to start.... I will contact an attorney.
    People are pigs!

    Check with your bank!!!
You folks are amazing if you honestly believe everything you read on here. Seriously check your credit report, check with your bank. I assure you everything legit, but keep lying and coming up with every excuse in the book seriously we have heard them all a dozen times. Your only wrecking your own credit, your own banking and your own future. Also to Brian you are a loser, it's on the Internet so it must be true.

I got the call as well. It was for a unpaid college textbook  book rental I let go. The Law Offices of Crystal Moroney are attempting to collect the debt BEFORE they send it out and it affects your credit. Pay your bills people!!
