Hey Now replies to Keep hiding
Wow, you have some grasp and command of the english language. Who wouldn't take you seriously. Denial can be a very sad and lonely place. Brad Rephen knows that his days are numbered and now all he can do is grasp at straws, by putting the business in someone else's name and getting a collection of trailer park trash and toothless hood rats making these phone calls for him, every one of them using a pathetic fake name. This must have been what it was like on those last few hours of the Titanic. Oh, and if followng the law is really that important to you than maybe you should actually report sexual harassment when it happens to you rather than letting in slide in exchange for a payoff.

I also received a call from them in which their voicemail stated Jim Smith who was from the law offices of Crystal Maloney regarding an important legal matter. I found this website and was very skeptical. I called and spoke with Jim who was vague and couls not provide me with many details. i told him that I was not goig to provide any further information or make any payments due to the nature of the feedback I read, stating this was fraudulent. His response was "to be quite frank, thats a lot of kids tryig to get out of paying their debt" he tried to continue bashing on us college "kids" when i interrupted him and said sir the majority of these reports are parents. I do not feel comfortable without more information. He referred me to the company who they receieved the case from which was fedcheck recovery system. I assumed this could easily be tied into the scam so i asked him if i could call efollet (the book rental company) and he said they wouldnt have the information.

I called my school bookstore (this is where you all went wrong. The school doesnt account for rented textbooks because its an outside company contracted to the school. You need to speak woth the bookstore) and they helped me. They didnt have my info in the computer because of the time thqt passed since i attended but they gave me the name and phone number of the agency they send collections to: fed check recovery service 1-800-979-8917.

I called fed checks. They explained that after holding an accou t with no activity for 120 days, they pass it off to various agencies and firms. They had on file the attempts to collect from me that had failed and then provided me with the information of the firm. My account was in fact passed on to the law offices of crystal maroney. She also informed me that theres usually some associated fees once it foes to a law office due to the costs of the "time and eddort put in to collect". The longer it goes unpaid, the more they call, the higher amount you owe.

Hey Now replies to not fraudulent
    Not Fradulent,
You do know that Jim Smith isn't even his real name right? We already established that it is the bookstore itself, which is completely independent from the college, to whom this money is owed too. You are correct that Follet does use Fedcheck recovery and that Fedcheck holds the account for about 120 days, the reason why they are "passing it off" to this law office is for the intimidation factor of getting a phone call from a law firm. You should have asked why the law firm never sent you a letter validating the debt which under the law you are entitled to if you are disputing the validity of it. As for the additional costs that you mentioned, those are simply the profits that the law office is keeping and paying out in the forms of commission to their employees. Your post was pretty slick but it is completely obvious that Brad and/or Crystal coached you on what to write and that you are an employee yourself.

    Olivia,
Just because they are calling and the issue may have happened that doesn't mean that anyone has to resolve it under their ridiculous terms and conditions.

So I was just called by an "Amber Hunt." Her voicemail she left for me sounded pretty intense since she said words like "law offices" and "important for you to call back by the end of today." So I called back.

It was in regards to a lecture clicker I had rented (worth $40) from my college bookstore, and never returned. I really just forgot about it, and the last time I was made aware of it by FedChecks, I just forgot about it again since it was such a small amount. Stupid me.

Anyway. Interest collected on this stupid $40 clicker! I was now charged $188. I get it. I settled for just a little bit less if I paid right there over the phone. So I paid it.

I know that I should have validated this information beforehand, but I was just so stressed in the moment thinking about this $188 that might affect my credit...thought it just to be better to pay. But after sitting a few minutes, I called Fed Checks & they DID verify that they sent my account to Crystal Moroney's. I was relieved! For a minute, I thought I had just given away all my card information and money to the wrong people.

So it is what is it. It sucks, but it's my fault.

    Hey Now replies to A
    A,
Do you have any idea how foolish you come across with what you just wrote. You basically acknowledged that Amber Hunt wasn't her real name, which is blatantly obvious that it isn't, but you called back just because her voice message 'sounded intense". Secondly, just because Fedchex (learn to spell it right) sent your account to that office that doesn't mean that interest started to magically accumulate. Interest is based on a percentage and is an exact calculation. All you did was pay extra money so that "Amber" and her boss could make a commission off of your dumb ass.

    they are legit
So I checked my credit report and saw that I had an outstanding check. I called the number on my report and they told me I owe for a check to CVS and the princeple was $33.21 and now I owe $200! asked them to send me something in the mail and I would show it to my attorney who is a family friend. But they told me all they are legally allowed is to send me a copy of the check. So I called CVS and they would not talk to me because they did in fact sent it to law offices of crystal moroney. So I called back and asked them to send me that copy of the check so I can see it for myself as I do not rememeber writing this check. When I received it, it was my signature and it must of been an oversight as I do not do this for a living. So I paid it even though I feel the fees are unfair. But they promised it will be removed from my credit report which most companies do not do.

    Hey Now
I am just so tired of all these debt collectors calling me from different companies. So I messed up in the past and wrote some bad checks or missed a credit card payment here and there....why must I pay for all of this now-they should just let it go!

Couldn't get my mortgage to go through until I cleared up some bills I never paid when I was in my twenties. I spoke with a guy there that was nice and worked out a payment plan that let me get my house and still pay the bill. I dealt with other companies while clearing up my credit and they were rude. I had a good experience dealing with this place and they even talked to my mortgage broker and sent a letter to help me smooth it out quicker.

An attorney from this firm  kept calling me and I finally picked up, despite what I read on here, I did owe them money. If they call you at least check it out my school used them to collect on unreturned books and I had one in my student account.  I paid them and got a receipt and no more problems or calls.

This lawyer office called me too, they were trying to collect four checks in my name but I sent the police report I had because my ex boyfriend stole my checkbook and they said ok, the calls stopped once I gave them the report that showed it wasn't my fault.

I got a call about a balance I owed them last week, the guy I spoke with gave me time to check it out. I researched it and did owe it and called them back, I paid them and I got a receipt . The person I got was professional and answered all of my questions. Hopefully they never have to call me again because I now pay all my bills when they are due.
