I'm a senior in Michigan, got the same card, stamp not cancelled, sorry we missed you, call to schedule a pickup. It's either a scam or a marketing gimmick!

We received the post card too on 3/23/10 with the same message.  What kind of scam is this?  Do they just want to get our phone numbers when we try to call back?

BBB Western PA warns about deceptive mailings that are being sent to consumers in the form of a postcard. The postcard claims that a package could not be delivered to you and states, “Sorry we missed you!!!”

The postcard is from:

Express Package Delivery (EPD)

The postcard instructs you to “Call to schedule pickup”. After calling the number, consumers are asked for the twelve-digit pickup number and then told that they have a free vacation package. Consumers are then asked for a credit card number to pay for a “…nominal delivery fee,” which must be paid in advance. CONSIDER THIS ACTIVITY TO BE A RED FLAG.

On calling the number, the consumer is specifically:

· asked for 12 digit pickup number on card

· asked for credit card number to pay for a “nominal” delivery fee which must be paid in advance

· consumers state EPD is using deceptive marketing tactics, since there was no attempted delivery

· EPD has the BBB's lowest rating.

BBB ADVICE

This is a questionable selling tactic to attempt to sell vacation certificates and to gain access to credit card information.

called it, they are trying to "deliver" a vacation package to you!  i said no thanks and hung up on them....

happened in IL too, polar bear stamp and everything. called after 5:00 (supposedly closed) and just got a machine saying "your call is really important to us", which was constantly repeated.

I received this same postcard with a package number and the polar bear stamp. I did call the number and after about a minute or so on hold someone answered. They stated this was a "package"  from Global Vacations and that they are going to give me a free vacation package. The woman also stated that this is a new "travel agency" that is giving away free vacations to introduce their company. I told the woman I wasn't interested, never signed up for any contest or drawing to receive a free vacation and that I would like to be removed from whatever system they have me listed in. I got the same thing 28Cent stamp, not validated mail no name no anything except the usual " sorry we missed you" " call to schedule a package pick up.

This reads scam in so many ways.

Got one too.......... peel back the stamp and there are ID numbers hidden... mine are 2662  244 ..... what's all that about?  Was wondering if they wanmt you to call so they can transfer and get free overseas calls?  I did call and got the answering machine... then I heard it dial and shut my off..... EEEKKKKK...!

Its a scam.
They want to give you a 300 dollar gift certificate to Walmart Kmart and others, and also give you a free vacation.
Isn't that nice of them?

Got the same card today. Postmarked Tyler,TX. on March 29th. Package number 1108-5979-8737. I'm from Michigan..

Got one today in MI.  Same story, 28 cent polar bear stamp uncancelled with a different package # that what is posted so far.  (dont have the # anymore, went through the shredder.)

Yup, got the same card yesterday. 28 cent stamp, package number different then everyone elses. Called from home (prob. a mistake) got a recorded answer of Five Star. Hung up, called again, no answer. Called from office and kept saying call was important and the next available rep would take the call. Hung up! In Michigan, not a senior.

I received postcard like others, "Pickup Notice. Call to Schedule Pickup (888) 465-0877.Sorry We Missed You" I called that number, waited on hold and finally they answered. It is Vacation Package offer !!!

I'm got the same card, Polar Bear 28 cent stamp, same number, different package number. I live in Florida.

This is definitely a scam.

I called, No answer, just that my call is very important. This was for my dad who is 59 and disabled. So is my mother. Same as everyone else. Polar Bear 28 cent stamp. Cancelled from Tyler, TX Dated April 2, 2010. Package Number: 1111-7226-4375.....Now I would like to add something else. Last week we had a break in down the street, we live in the country (Michigan). Our neighbors seen someone back behind their place and ran them off, jumped into a waiting truck just last Friday  (April 2, 2010) Just wanted to add this.

i was wondering if it is a way for collection agencies to get information. My son in law has several collection agencies after him. They call us looking for him. He is in North Carolina...military...Seems like they could find him without us.

Got the same card in the mail a couple of days ago that everyone else is talking about.  I'm not a senior and I live in Illinois.  The stamp is partially postmarked by USPS but there's no town postmark on it.
