surprised to see posts from 2007 ... this is October,2011 and for the last 2-3 months I have been
getting calls from 18888823811 twice a week, upon answering it hangs up, at first I thought it was
a Fax, then I googled and see all this ... Scotiabank ... I called them and no help ... I travel abroad fairly often, and have answered their calls in numerous roaming places, come on now, is there an effective way to stop them ? and I wish to have some money back for my trouble on answering this s* whilst in roaming ..............

i just got rid of one 1-800 number calling me and now this one so i googled it and saw this.
This is crazy. Does anyone know what they want and how to stop it

Terry F, your 100% right. I just got a new number and the bast**** started calling.
I'm logging every call that i get and when they call and i am going to the RCMP.
They are not getting away with this....NO DARN WAY!!

Just  moved to Nova Scotia not long ago, and they already got us!  But thanks to Norm for the tip, I will do it.

Got the call at supper time. I answered but no one at the other end.  Get the call on a regular basis lately but not everyday.  I have no business with Scotiabank   If I  ever talk to someone and they confirm they are from Scotiabank, I will confirm to them I will never deal with them.

Every evening I receive a call from 888-882-3811 which shows as Scotiabank on my call display but no one is there.  I would these calls to stop immediately.

The biggest mistake is why I got a scotiabank scene card
They can't even award me my points when I forgot my scene card at the movies
They are just not listening to their customers.

Called tonight at 19:22 MST. Didn't answer. Caller ID was blocked.

Called again tonight at 20:45 MST. (above was my previous post. Correction: Called ID showed the 888 #.) Caller ID showed the 888# tonight as well. No one at the other end. Called back said their office was closed and the voicemail box was full. Glad to know Scotia Bank spams others at night while not [***] taking calls off office hours.

They call me about twice a week, about 7pm. If I answer, I get a beep and then it hangs up,
If I leave it,, I get no VM. If I call back, I get a voice message telling me they are open until 8pm and I should call back when they are open????
I have called during the day and it really is ScotiaBank, they tell me they will put me on their DNC, which will take 30 days to kick in. It does stop for a while, then they start again, I;m now on my 3rd try to get them stopped. As soon as my mortgage fixed rate is over, they have lost a customer.
I hope they read this but I doubt it.

According to http://ecoliving.scotiabank.com/finance, 1-888-882-3811 is a real Scotiabank number. Since I do have a Scotiabank account and they obviously know where I live, why would they keep calling my house at stupid times (8:45 pm)? Everyone at my house hangs up the phone (or doesn't even answer) when this number calls, so why do they keep calling here? If we needed financing help, we would go to our local Scotiabank. Quit calling everyone all the damn time! My god, these people are annoying.

Look people, you can all make this stop by just accepting the credit card being offered. Wow, some people make a big deal about everything! You can never have enough credit cards, especially in the case of an emergency. So the next time you get a call just kindly accept the offer, and you will never get another one of these calls again. Problem solved!

I did what you said and accepted the credit card offer, and you were right, they have not called again. When the card comes I will just not use it that much, but at least I have stopped the phone calls because we have a sick person in the house and need quiet.
