You surely must be a scotiabank employee (probably working at one of their call centres). So you love these calls eh? Are you stupid or what? How would you feel if someone keeps on calling and calling your number everyday?? You think its funny? Think twice before saying something stupid like that you jerk &*%$^!

Yes Dave B, I do love them.  I'm 22 years old and I had a credit card debt of $4000 on my PC mastercard.  After speaking to PC numerous times in a futile effort to have my interest rate decreased, they kept telling me there is nothing they can do.  Then, I get a call from Scotiabank a few months later (by this time, my debt was up to $4800) and they tell me that I have been pre approved for a CC.  I asked them what the lowest rate is, they told me about a line of credit visa card with a rate of prime +1 or something like that.  I find out that was only 4% so I immediately jumped on it and transfered my balance.  I was paying $80 a month interest on my pc card, and on the scotia card I paid $16 in interest.  My debt was officially wiped clean 3 months ago.  So in response to your questions "am I stupid or what?" No, Im not stupid, this phone call helped me save over $60 a month in interest payments.  "How would I feel if someone keeps on calling and calling my number everyday?" If i were home to answer the calls, I would listen to the 2 minute speil they have and then go about my day, realizing that these people are just doing their job. "Do I think its funny?" No, I think the calls are pretty informative and I was smart enough to listen and save myself some money.  Your probably sitting there in a mountain of debt and telling the callers to f-off.  Sooo, I think it is you that should think twice before saying something stupid.  Good day.

I received calls from this number several times a day  while I was at work. One day I called them back at that number and determined it was scotiabank. I asked to be placed on their do not call list and they did so. Luckily I've received no calls from them in the last month. I am a customer of scotiabank and from looking aroung their website determined it's actually the number from the finance section of their "EcoLiving" page. Because of this I don't think it's a scam, but it is VERY annoying. They will call you for weeks on end until you answer, or until you ask to be removed from their list.

I say the best way is to open the phone then close it again every time they call, maybe that would make them come to their senses and stop calling

    This is a SCAM!
Just got off the phone with the REAL ScotiaBank, this is a set-up 888 number that they are using to fish for people's creditcard information. Do NOT give them ANY of your personal info and report the call the Scotia's 1800 # immediately after.

I started to get calls telling me I won a free cruise, these calls came in for over a week.  When I called it back to say "Get lost" a recording would advise of their business hours - which I took into consideration when I called - I am a smart woman, duh, why would I call after hours.  Well finally managed to stop that call and their annoying messages left on my answering machine to suddenly get calls from this number.  Because it's unknown to me I never answer but they also never leave a message.  I receive calls at least twice a day.  Enough's enough

They have called me every single day for the past 6 days, and I haven't picked it up. I don't bank with or have any credit cards with Scotia Bank, but you know what it is? It's your SCENE card. Take your phone number off your SCENE account, or you can call them at 1-866-586-2805.
I just did, and they modified my "subscription" (funny, because I never consented to over-the-phone solicitation).

Blame the scum that is the Harper government, neo-nazi basically created a do not call list which allows everyone to call you. This scum bag has to be thrown out of office.

True Canadian replies to ANTI HARPERITE
Ummm... I think you should check your facts.  The Do No Call list was set up bythe CRTC - which operates no matter which political party is in power.  So to blame Mr. Harper isn't the answer.  You obvioulsy have other issues and try to vent them on a simple web site about telephone numbers.  Have you thought about going to a counsellor to see how to handle your anger?    Anyway, the Do Not Call list does not stop companies from dialing every sequential number that exists.  All the DNC did was get Canadian companies to use the services of telemarketers in other countries to make their calls.  Since the call comes from another country, the CRTC cannot enforce the list.  If these calls really bug you, check the internet for call blocking software you can get for your PC, and then route all your calls through your PC first.  Let it do all the work.

I decided to answer this time, and there was a voice there asking for me.  I told him I was eating dinner, which I was, but I would call him back later if he would give me his home phone number.  He hung up.

    SMARTONE
My sister got a call from this number back in July or August, 2010. And they said it's the Scotia Bank calling, etc......
My sister said that her husband answered the phone to speak to this woman, and that the woman told him that she wanted to speak to his wife, so
My sister took the phone and then this woman started asking my sister a lot of personal questions, etc..........Well, my sister said
I do not give out (any) personal information over the phone......and esp,(not) to
anyone she does not know..and if the bank needs
to speak to her, that she would go there in person
and speak to the bank manager or tellers there.
Another thing, why would this dumb woman phone them at (8 PM) anyways????Well my sister finally
hung up on this kook. LOL.
The bank isn't even open those hours???
My sister wasn't born yesterday, and knows that this was just a scam from some dirty rat, or it's
an (inside job) because who would know that my sister & her husband deals with that bank anyways.
