I don't know who was there, I got the call while I was on my bike, I suddenly stopped my bike and answered the call, but there was only a lot of noise at the other end, while my voice was being echoed back clearly, but I could not judge who is there and what do they want??
I got this call on Dec 26, 2010 at 10.25 pm.

May anyone help me to give any details about this strange number??

Since then, I never got any other call from that number afterward.

I received a call from this number and answered it without looking at who was calling. The were no one on the other side and I hung-up. This happened at the 21/01/2011 at about 13H00 GMT+2.

I received a call from 888888888888 on 25th January 2011 at 09:55:18 pm , 09:53:45pm and 10:03:49pm then it hanged up and got disconnected

Have been called twice by this number. Did not use 1471.

I'm from South-Africa and also just received a missed call from this +888888888888 number (02Feb @ 11:05).  Obviously didn't answer too, but this is very suspicious.
