- LeiRude, rude very rude people,
- Cool&CollectedThat is funny, these guys when they call, they are trained to be aggressive and to intimidate you. Just don't play their game, do not break down, stay strong be polite to them and thank them for the call, when they start yelling ask for permission to talk, I am telling you they HATE that, when they loose control and their rudeness does not face you.
Sure some people deserve to be pressured but no one deserves to be treated like that.
Anyway, good luck to you that have to go through this, I am going through it and they froze my account, insulted me, cancelled stuff...I tried making a settlement and they said no, oh well, lets see what happens in court.- Caller: Partners In Credit

- InformedThere are laws that govern the collection agencies' actions. Simply find the laws online, read it, and record a few harassments that occurs or a few times when they break the law. Then take action by playing back the recording to their managers and threaten to report them to their governing body and to take them to court. If you do owe money, you will get off the hook for just about whatever amount you want.

MESSAGE TO CALLER___DO NOT CALL HERE IN FUTURE AS YOUR CALLS WILL BE MONITORED!!- Call type: Debt collector
- phoneharrassedThe answer is to take the phone call, listen to them and then ask them for the name of the company, their address, the creditor they are calling for, and their file reference number.
If they ask you why, or try to not give you that info, tell them that they are required to do so under the Collection Agencies Act.
Tell them you dispute the claim, and are sending them a "cease-and-desist letter".
If they ask you what the basis is of your dispute, tell them you'll set it all out in the letter. Don't try to explain anything to those idiots on the phone.
Don't yell, don't swear, be reasonable in your tone, but firm.
Then you have to send a letter by REGISTERED MAIL to the collection agency. Give them the reference no., the creditor, and tell them you dispute the claim. Tell them a very brief tiny description of why you dispute the claim. Then tell them that they are required to stop calling you. Any infraction of that, and you will report them to the Ministry of Financial Institutions, which will put their collection agency licence in jeopardy. Keep a copy.
one common basis for dispute: it's statute barred. That means that if it's over 2 years old, and you haven't acknowledged the debt in writing or made a payment on it for 2 years or more, they can't sue you.
then contact the credit bureau and if there's a notation on your file re this debt, send them a letter with your dispute reasons, if you have a good case. Regardless, just tell them that it's a disputed.account.
google collection agencies law in Ontario. you'll get info from the govt. - JoanneThese people call me looking for someone else several times a day. I tell them that the person does not live here but they still keep calling. They will not stop calling me and say that I am the girl they are trying to reach. It's driving me nuts !!!!

- Stop these people!!Wow! Just got a call from this number too. The woman was very abrupt and rude. She asked for someone (no one with that name under our residence) and I told her that there was no one with that name in our household, no one in our family by that name. She had the proper last name, but it is rather common in the area. I asked who was calling and she said, "Do you always ask a wrong number who is calling?!" Well yes, I do if someon sounds like they are questioning me. So rude! She continued with an accusatory tone and would not answer my questions. Odd! Then she said that "this is getting weirder and weirder". She said someone gave them our number as a contact eight months ago. We have had this number for about four years. Grrrrrrrrr. All I can tell you is that this number and PIC came up on call display.

- Stop these people!I commented above regarding a call I received on July 6 2011. A woman named Roberta from PIC called this evening and left a message to call her back at 1-855-483-0981 ext. 2505, AGAIN asking to speak to someone named Randy (same name they requested when they called previously).
The voice on the message sounded identical to the woman I spoke to on July 6. I was floored that they would have called back when I ALREADY made it clear that we were not the people they were looking for, nor did we have any connection to or knowledge of this particular person. In response to the person above...there is no one named Randy in our family, living or dead.
I was pretty upset after the last call and asked my husband to call back and put a stop to it before they even consider calling here again. He told her the same thing as I did after he went through the SAME line of questioning (I don't know if she was quite as rude or accusatory with him, but he repeated the word "no" many times and there was lots of eye rolling and exasperated head shaking on his part). At the end of the call, she said she would clear everything up and take our number off her list. Why did that not happen the last time they called us? Is my voice too feminine to be credible?! Is it not deep enough to command authority?! Pffft. Let's hope that was the last call because this is definitely crossing the line.
My husband and I have excellent credit so I have to question whether or not this is some kind of scam.
Anyone want to start flooding their phone lines with calls demanding to speak with a Randy (or insert name of your choice)?! Just kidding, but isn't it akin to what they're doing here?- Caller: Partners in Credit

- EwinThis number calls me everyday. They are a collection company. If you do not want to talk to them you should warn everyone living in your house. They use lies to get information out of you or the person that picks up the call. They will use a real bank name to frighten you or to make you think they are legit. An example would be "I'm calling on behalf of Capital One. It's very important that I talk to (name)." or "I have a very important package at my desk. Do you have the current address & phone number of (name). Be aware! Good Luck!

- DavidThis is a collection agency that has bought debt accounts that are years old.
They also use the # 1-885-483-0977 and this might even be through India.
I believe they have no legal power to collect these debts.
The call will also come up as P.I.C.
They are probably the 3rd company to purchase this debt for cents on the dollar.- Caller: P.I.C.

- WendyI just wanted to warn you about this collection company. They called my house and left a message on my answering machine for someone that I don't know. Said it was very important. Thinking I was doing an act of kindness I called back to inform them of the wrong number. It turns out they were looking for my son. However, the message on my answering machine was misleading. It seems like it was a life or death situation. They said they were looking for (fake name) to get me to call back. I thought I was doing a good deed. I wished I would have google this number. Being dumb and old I fell for the the damn trick. Anyhow, now they know that I'm his mother and will probably call again.

- pultitthe guy who keep calling is a DEMON. go to hell.
- Anonymous replies to he's dead| 4 repliesThat is illegal. They have 7 years from the time the bill is due to chase after it. Once the bill is seven years overdue, they can't chase it. Also, if they're calling for people who have been dead for 20 years, there is something VERY fishy about them. Report it. Explain to the police that they are calling you for someone who has been dead for 20 years.

- cat| 1 replyThis is PIC (partners in credit - certainly not my partner, chuckle!) A "Mr. Manning" called trying to sound authoritative, - everyone knows that people legitimately in positions of power or "authority" do not address themselves as "Mr." anything - they have the manners of leaving the party they are speaking with the choice of addressing them as such, depending on the respect and familiarity the party wishes to show to them. These collection agencies employ poorly paid "clerks" to call and harrass people. They are hired by the banks who do not choose to waste the time and talent of their highly paid legitimate Banking Officers, who would find the work boring and demeaning. Just hang up - certainly do NOT let them bother you or spoil your day in any manner.

- KD inc. These guys call my work and leave me messages. It's for someone with the same name as me. Weird. "This is Partners In Credit. I'm calling on behalf of BMO. It's important I speak to (name) regarding a legal matter. I have a account here that has been neglected. "For sure everyone that hears this message would know that it's a debt collection calling. It's pretty embarrassing around my co-workers. I try to explained to them that it's not me but, who would believe that now?
