Had a call from 03 9009 6600 on mobile number at 3.33 pm today (forums indicate this is an Optus number)  then at 4.15 call from 0011 976 000 on my office land line  in Melbourne -  didn't answer either and no message left on either voicemail - are these related in any way?

    More scamming calls
I also got a call from this number - at about 7.00pm WST.

The female, possibly Indian, caller wouldn't answer my question about who was calling with a direct answer, but did tell me that she was calling to conduct a survey, on behalf of the government?  Which goverment? - the state government.  Which state government was that? - the Perth State Government.

I said goodbye at this stage.  Life is too short to spend time chatting with rogue callers.

We've received a bunch of these scam calls. The times varied, with some in the evening and some in the afternoon.

So far, there were two patterns.

    1. Claimed to call on behalf of Telstra...
Stating that we're eligible for monthly discounts on our phone line.  Every time, the call started "I'm calling from South Melbourne...." They never gave their name and the voice had a distinct Indian accent. Would hang up when asked what company they were calling from.

    2. Claimed to call from Microsoft...
Stating that they had detected a virus on our PC and that they "had" to access our PC to fix it.
Same deal, never gave their name & had the Indian accent.

The calls never went far since we hung up.

The Calls are just "Spy Prank Calls" from a Military University located in the country of China that teaches their new Military Students about "Psychological Warfare". This is nothing new at all because the Japanese did the same thing during the 2nd War World by calling people houses to find out if someone was living in the house near Pearl Harbour before Bombing the USA Fleet Ships. The Australian ASIO has said about two years ago that there are Hundreds of Chinese Spy here in Australia and over 300 Russian Spies. Australia has 40% of the World Uranium so the Chinese has asked the Australian Government for 50% of Australia for their Chinese Population but the former Prime Minister Rudd refused to give half of Australia to the Chinese. So the Chinese wants to Scare the Australian people with their "Spy Prank Calls" because they know that by using "Psychological Warfare" people will want the Chinese to protect Australia from the the 300 Million Muslims of Indonesia who In 2001 send 34 Military Ships near Wester Australia to force the people of Western Australia to surrender to Indonesia. Australia should use its 40% World Uranium that they have to use "Counter-Psychological Warfare" against the Chinese, Indonesia and the Russians who have 11 Nuclear Missiles pointing toward the USA Military Bases here in Australia. To Hell with the Chinese, Indonesia, Russia and the USA.

I just got another 00-1197-6000 from the Chinese Military University 2 hours later. I am thinking of stealing a Nuclear Missiles from those USA Submarine that are Patroling the Sea so I can Blow Up to Hell those new Chinese Military Recruits who are using "Psychological Warfare" against Australian people. I am going to use Counter-Psychological Warfare against the Chinese by dropping a NUKE on them and hopefully they will learn not to Interrupt my Concentration with their 0011976000 phone number any more.

I have had three calls from this number 0011 976 00 during June 2011. The first two I missed because I was out, but the third I actually answered. It's the so-called Microsoft Windows Support (or similar) people from India claiming that my anti-virus software is not doing its job, etc., etc., and they can help me fix the problem. After getting exactly the same response back, word-for-word, three times in a row when I constantly asked "How do you know?", I told the fellow that I don't use Windows (which is true) and hung up. I reported it to SCAMWatch, but the chap there said they know where these calls are coming from. However, because they are coming from India, it is out of their jurisdiction and they can't do much, if anything, to prevent these calls being made.

Got a call from this number saying they were from 'computer centre' and when I told them that I didn't have a computer they didn't want to talk to me any more.  Bugger, because I just felt like having a chat.
