- EnglishraiderI keep getting calls from them but i went for a job interview for this company after being made redundant early this year but didnt take it it was more like a factory the staff are only allowed 4 mins per call and if their average call time is above this they no get there monthly bonus so keep them talking as long as possible I normally say wait there I need to get a pen and then leave them hanging

- ThomasThey have called me twice tonite and insist they are Sky and I have got it wrong. Jamie rang first and then a lady. Very insistent and when I hung up, the call kept reconnecting.

- RMacThe number is Domestic General Services Ltd calling on behalf of BSkyB. But I called Sky who said it wasn't a call from them as all their callout numbers start 08442. I called the number but missed off the zero (dial 0800 121 8143) and got a recorded message saying who the call was from. According to the message, if you call 0800 083 2432 and follow their instructions they'll stop calling you. I did so and the calls are due to stop within 30 days.

- RichardBeen getting calls from this number almost every day for over a week now, never answer let answer phone pick it up and they hang up. If I ever do answer by mistake they will get nothing but abuse from me, will not tolerate cold callers.
- Andy SI keep getting calls from these people having signed up to SKY about 6 weeks ago. I think SKY should ensure that they look after their customer databases properly as I always ensure that I opt out of options to having my details given out to partners or third parties. I am ex-directory and have been registered on TPS for some years.
I have left my details so that they will stop calling me (30 days to enable this???!!)and have filled in a complaint form at ofttel.
Even if you do get an operator DON'T sign up for this. My mate at work did a couple of years ago and they fix nothing. - Senoir Chang - the spanish dictatorreceived the call but no answer when i picked up
- rab80am sure i seen these guys on watchdog, and they are selling fake insurance for you sky equipment. from what i know they dont even work for sky.
- kazthese people are really getting on my nerves now for past month it has been constant, they have put phone down when you answer, when they do answer they say they are from bskyb services, i have asked them to take me off thier list of prank calls, as we are not interested if we want something with sky we will contact THEM, and if they call again i will be reporting them for harrassment, she didnt seemed bothered by it until i said i have already reported them to sky and then she went um um um and went silent so i put phone down!! so obviously it must be a fake company if they dont know what to say when you say you have contacted sky lol, they called us on dec 8th @ 8.39PM

- NatashaI have been getting a miss call adleast once a day from 008001218143, I havent answered it but have googled the number and its a Sky Scam. I have recently taken out SkyTalk and started getting these calls. Does anyone know how to stop them? Sky havent been very helpful.
- SilverjanGot the call from these guys today - glad I refused to go ahead at £8.25 X 12! Must admit the guy was very pleasant, and gave me no hassle when I said no. Great that this site gives you so much info.
- LOZI am confused by the comments saying that Domestic and General are scammers. When I had my old Sky box, I covered it with Domestic and General and When it broke down on us on at least 3 occasions it was fixed after a call to them no problem. We continued this cover until we upgraded to a sky+ box last year. I have just had a missed call from this number which is why I googled it and brought up this website. It was almost a year ago when I bought our sky+ box so I guess that is why they have called me now as my 12 month guarantee is about up.
I have also used Domestic and General to cover my oven and hob again, I have had cause to ring them to have my oven fixed with no problems.
Am I missing something though? Are Domestic and General scammers? I am asking as I have no doubt they will call again.
Thanks - KarenThey just off the phone to me, quite rude when i started asking them questions! They are asking about sky boxes and insurance. I askes them if they were part of the sky company she replied partners. I said i was going to phone sky and guess what!!!! she hung up.

- KevI got a call from these guys and i work in a call centre and am familiar with affiliate groups. they have no access to billing details as they are on a different system and after calling sky i can confirm domestic and general ARE part of SKY, it is NOT a scam

- daleThey have called me everyday for the past 2 weeks but I've not answered. Couldn't ring them back as number not recognised. I finally answered tonight. They were "acting on behalf of sky, pay £8 a month for 12 months, covered for 22 against weather damage to satellite, any damage to equipment(box,remotes etc). I paused and said No to which I was asked why? I couldn't come up with an answer. I'm not comfortable with cold-callers. Hopefully over now
- TimJust to say that Domestic General aren't scammers. They may be persistent pests, but they are a perfectly legitimate insurance company and are used by a large amount of retailers to sell extended warranty packages. Ever bought something from Currys, Comet, Dixons, etc and then a year later received something in the post about extended warranty? Bet you it's from DG.
That said, you don't need it. Just been getting these calls myself on a near daily basis and it's because I've bought a Sky HD box recently. It's got 1 year warranty anyway and as mentioned the SOG act covers you for fit for purpose for a typical device and yes that's probably something like 5 years for a PVR box.
If you made sure you specified no marketing when buying off Sky then you are fully entitled to complain. If not then unfortunately you have given Sky the right to share your details with DG and the likes of TPS can't stop them. You must contact Sky.
Anyway, as usual these are automated calls from a call centre. It's actually an International call centre so also avoids UK laws (00800 is an International freephone number. Their location can be anywhere in the world). These automated diallers randomly call people from their list, usually far more than they have staff to answer. They know only a small percentage will answer the phone so they allocate staff for that number. If you pick up and too many staff are allocated already you get the dreaded silent treatment. - Timp.s. yes, it could be Sky have a UK based number for DG also, but I bet DG's call centre is overseas. The UK and International freephone number likely goes to the same place.
