Looks they're probably SkyBox insurers as others suggest, my 12 months is up so I must have flagged up on their system. No doubt I'll be inundated with a myriad of similar companies. Sky could quash this kind of scam by simply insuring the SkyBox indefinitely like Virgin do.

They mentioned it was £8.25 X 12 and that the last 2 months are free. Mentioned multi-room that covered 24/7 and dedicated call lines up to 11pm at night. All seemed to tie and it was in relation to my Sky+ HD box which I got over a year ago. Guy all very polite and so on and said he would send through my policy and information and I would receive this within 3 working days. He even said I would have 8 days to cancel upon receipt of the documentation.
Then I saw this when I checked the number and rang up Sky Protect 08444 810 359 to make sure. The woman I spoke to said she could see nothing on my account but sometimes takes up to 3 days to update as the sales are looked after by an Office in Brighton separate from them, they just look after the policies...
Everything seemed to be okay and I gave them my sort code and bank account details. Then read this and got a shock. Called my bank straight away to make sure that a) no large payment had been taken and to say b) if anyone tried to set up a direct debit to check with me 1st. My bank said I had done the right thing as I was unsure. I will call Sky back in 3 days and see if the records have been updated with my call, if not I will likely enough ask for a new card to be issued and see if they can issue a new account number to be on the safe side or block all new direct debits unless I call them prior. - cazza replies to alice lambertThanks,have just tried this so hopefully it will work!
- andyBeen receiving these calls for over 3 weeks, actually in to answer today, very defensive when I questioned them, would only get 'calling on behalf of Sky' , definately not genuine as they asked for a relative who's got nothing to do with Sky!

When I have phoned back, my phone cuts off. - AviJust looked number up in Google, Martin Lewis website. It is SKY warranty and apparently a scam!!
- Jeff PenverThey phoned yesterday twice. The first was silent, but the second I spoke to someone. They said they were calling on behalf of Sky about our Sky equipment. I told them we were not interested and that I knew it was a scam.
They phoned today and I told them that I have already told them I'm not interested. I then submitted a complaint to TPS as my number is registered with them already.

- leannei get this as well, and they keep asking for my husband (maybe as his name is on our sky account) and wouldn't tell me who they were as if it was something too important to tell me!! thanks everyone, i've rung the number mentioned to hopefully stopped these nuisance calls and maybe i can get some peace and quiet while my baby sleeps!

- DanHad my first call from this number today, nobody on other end and hung up after a few seconds. I always say no to 'marketing' offers and give my landline number to very few people to try and avoid these calls. If it is sky offering me cover they should know that I already have it!

- KenOk, D&G is NOT a scam, they might be a bunch of assclowns who cant stop calling you but it is NOT a scam. My father was recently scammed by a company claiming to be cover for Sky and after calling Sky themselves they stated that the only company they do cover for your Sky box with is Domestic and Genral. They gave me the number to call them on which is the one you are all recieving calls from. Seriously people, just because they call you offering you cover does not mean its a scam, its a legitimate, annoying, sometimes completly unproffesional company but NOT a scam.

- Mintychocychip replies to KeithHi, I really sympathise with you. May I recommend the TRUECALL machine to you? Take a look at the Amazon website. I am in no way connected to the company but since purchasing one I can blissfully answer the phone knowing who is calling. I cannot recommend it enough. These anonymous, unwanted calls don't even get to the phone ringing stage. It cuts them off at the knees! Kind regards.

Ofcom suggests registering with TPS to stop unwanted sales calls and if you still get them the company is committing an offence and you should complain to TPS here..... http://complaints.tpsonline.org.uk/Consumer/
- block it from your phoneI got a call from this number twice and answered it the second time. They new my name and new I had sky plus, they were trying to sell me breakdown cover. I was taken in until I said I wasn't interested in breakdown cover. Then he tried to get aggresive telling me to worry about storm damage floods etc. I said " look mate, I'm not interested in spending any more money" he wouldn't give up. It was that moment I knew something fishy was going on so I told him never to ring my number again. I've since been on the phone to Sky and they can comfirm it was not them and they have had a lot of customers complaining about it. The first question the Sky guy asked me was " did they ask for any bank details?" I said " they didn't get that far and why would they need them when Sky already have them??"

- K19I've only recently got Sky and have had calls from this number pretty soon after it was installed. I never answer numbers like this anyway - thank goodness for caller display! They do ring at all times of the day and evening, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day.

If you dont want to receive anymore calls then they advise you to call 0800 083 2432 and follow the instructions. Basically you give your name and number for them to remove you from their call lists which can take upto 30 days.
