- Buyer BewareI've been along to 2 meetings with Apollo and when it was revealed at the end that payment was upfront and not dependent on results, I smelt a rat and started my due diligence. A vast database of unadvertised jobs, writing letters to MD's to have a coffee, no LinkedIn profiles to speak of made me run a mile. These people will just give you false hope and a lot of anger at the system. The only way to find the job you want is going to be hard work and perseverance - these people will distract you from that and you will waste countless hours complaining and chasing. I am currently leading them on a merry dance getting them to send me contracts and waste some of their time and give them some false hope in making a sale.

- Conned and Ripped OffI was foolish enough, whilst going through a period of vulnerability, to register with these guys - Apollo. I figured that a few grand was a small price to pay in the grander scheme of things for a platinum executive career management service including access to the unadvertised jobs market. I guess in this day and age of due diligence and accountability I didn't believe con artists like this could operate. They are a joke - will rewrite your CV (badly), talk a lot of drivel and give duff advice along the lines of writing cold letters to senior executives whose names some faceless bloke in Leeds has simply lifted off LinkedIn. No proactive career management plan as far as I can see. Don't make the same error of judgement I did - avoid these charlatans, you don't need them!
- YetanotherSadly they are still up to their tricks trying to get people to part with their hard earned for nothing more than basic advice.
I hope someone gets them for their misuse of data link this. It can't be legal to buy lists of personal data like this.
Time for the Daily Mail to get involved. - Steve replies to Tracey GoldmanLee has not worked at Apollo in 2 years and was never a sales person there.
- Not again..They don't buy data. They act as recruiters and buy access to CVs on job boards. They prey on people over 45 years on salaries over £45k as you are the "least likely to be recruited" due to age and salary. They have no leads and very few contacts. If the senior consultant has contacts, they are usually just random people within a business and not relevant to you at all. How can someone be an expert when they see all people from all industries? They are just sales people. Yes, it is more about networking....so they get YOU to list your networking contacts. Get YOU to write to them for a meeting. Yes, they may give you a list of companies from the database that they tell you how to use (so you can source your own companies!) contacts within those companies all come from the company websites or linkedin. Again, something you can do and don't need them. If you are lucky you get linkedIn training so know how to do the who search yourself. (again, not hard...search for company, click on company page, see company news, to the right of the page it says "how you are connected" click on that to see everyone who works there. Click on "advanced" down the left hand side and search for a person based on job title).
They send YOU a list of recruiters from the database that you have access to which they have found through Google, again something you can do yourself. Most of the contacts are incorrect or not relevant.
YOU then contact the agencies. Yes, they send out marketing to the agencies, but it is sent to all the recruiters they give to you... they don't have warm recruiters like they suggest. It's simply just a person that they know the name of. You can get your own "warm" recruiter by ringing the recruiter. They are going to respond to you and not care about Apollo.
they then ring you "weekly" to see how you are getting on with your job search. ~if you say you aren't getting very far...they just send you more of the same stuff. The quickest route to market is recruiters. Always will be.
If you feel like you need to pay for the service, go for the cheapest one. You get your CV re-written (which is subjective so someone will always say there is something wrong/missing) and you will get some interview practice.
You don't need to pay for recruiters or companies. quite simply a google search will help you do that.
You write letters. You ring recruiters. You use your own networking contacts. They essentially give you nothing. You are assigned a person to "manage your program" and they only have about 10 clients. Its a lie. They are just people in their 20s who have to churn through calls. it's a scam and so many people fall for it. They keep rebranding and changing their number. doesn't that speak for itself? I wish everyone searched the company and looked into it further before cashing in! - MitchI visited them today, I was call from the same number as everyone else, I went to the website and found the Company number and went to "Company House" and researched both the company and my contact. The company has 3 charges against it, for the non accountants or bankers, loans etc being called. 5 of its 6 Directors have resigned which includes 2 companies who may have been called upon to stand as Directors or Secretary. My contact over the last 20+ years (again information from linkedin and Companies House) has been MD or CEO and served as Director of Companies that went into Receivership, Liquidation or Dissolved. I attended the meeting armed with this information but an open mind. I honestly believed that the company and the individual may have had a bad break so I was prepared to still work with them if I had a reasonable explanation. Our meeting started cordial, I was alerted to Apollo's longevity, reputation, methodology for helping me and the exclusive clientele as well as how they pick who they work with. He initiated our conversation by introducing himself as working for the company for several years (10mths according to Linkedin) and that he had only worked for a couple of very successful companies (Merchandiser at M&S and approx. 4 other Ventures which ended either in Receivership, Liquidation or dissolution). To shorten this story I indicated to my contact all the public information I had acquired and just wanted comfort regarding the information that is out there. He immediately became defensive and told me that I was questioning his integrity and that I didn't seem to be the kind of Candidate their organisation could work with, that said I really hope potential victims and even past ones read this, the internet is accessible to all if you are in the UK, the simplest is between Companies House website and Linkedin. Ask who you are meeting and research the company thoroughly and the people you are meeting its a matter of freely available public records.

- BaildonThanks for all the information provided on this site, had a phone call out of the blue from this company, then an e-mail confirming the appointment which was then chased up again by text message and phone call.
Have now cancelled the appointment. Companies like this should be stopped. Total waste of my time and they should be closed down.- Caller: Appollo
- MaryThanks to this site I have now cancelled my appointment, hopefully that will be the last I hear from them !

- Mr LI was a fool going to an interview with these people at their offices in Cambridgeshire. A rather over the top chap! John Roberts Who insisted I paid them to aligned me for the correct role. I declined but was annoyed they led me down this garden path. Copy of email below some 12 months later.
My Senior Consultant has asked me to contact you. He believes that he can assist you to secure your next position and would like to meet to explore your current situation.
I had wondered if you would be available to meet this week in our Cambridge office.

- cdfThey are now using the telephone number 0333 323 2114 as well. I've encountered this group over three years ago when I was searching for a job; the way they presented themselves to me at the time was as an executive placement firm. I wasted an afternoon when I met with Chris Gough but it was clear something wasn't right from the get go - the offices were not in the business centre of Leeds; it didn't take long for me to figure out that they were expecting me to pay them. I discontinued at that point and found a job quite nicely on my own, thank you very much. Rather than adding me to some sort of do not call file, I'm now getting calls from them again and I'm not altogether certain why - they are using this new number albeit with the same pitch as previously. Again, I recommend blocking the 0333 323 2114 number. If you are searching for work, keep in mind that it's not in the interests of any reputable company to hide the jobs - rather, they want you to find them easily.

- JDAAs a fellow cynic I thought the number on the email wasn't right, the linkedin page is poor, again as pointed out in this thread, missing photos and details you would expect from a professional organisation, and the final nail was the previous post naming Sam Wright, thank you Mr L, I will not be wasting my time thanks to your post.
- USGI got a call from Rebecca Ripley a few weeks ago about becoming a CV Consultant for this company. I expressed interest and she sent me an email (with a wrongly spelled subject!) giving me the details. I'm certainly glad I did some homework and found this site. Needless to say, I have a conscience and decided to avoid them and not become a part of the problem.

- Ms LI met Chris Gough in 111Picadilly Manchester and the service sounded good. However I had a niggle that something wasn't quite right so started to search the Internet, especially as all the site reviews were all really positive. The fee is now £3250 plus VAT so glad I found this site before I considered handing over my hard earned redundancy

- Brian GApollo got in touch 7 days ago, and then today its Taylor CVs. A quick check on this site shows they are one and the same thing. I oh so nearly fell for what looked like a cheap and effective CV service. Nearly got me on the hook!

- AlanIgnored the first one, seemed a bit dodgy when i noticed email and web addresses are from different sites and the reply email is not the same as the address it came from so looked around and after finding no credible website, no pictures of any employees,no profiles of people to speak of on linkedin or anywhere else i looked just ignored and deleted it..
Weeks later get this so decided to look around again and found this website, looks like Sam has another new phone number..
My Senior Consultant has asked me to contact you again. He believes that he can assist you to secure your next position and would like to meet up to explore your current situation.
