Website: www.apollo.eu.com - A SmithHello my name is A Smith, I don't actually exist but I will try and contact you and arrange meetings with some second hand car sales man who is going to try and sell you some services that you don't need.
I will use dubious means and unreasonable methods to indiciate that I am a recruitment agent, with a potential role but no such role ever exists.
There are professional companies who will offer the same services we do but are transparent. Please feel free to log a complaint with Trading Standards about our business practises.
Feel free to arrange meetings and not turn up with my firm.
A Smith - W*****sThese people are now wasting my time with their irritating text messages and phone calls.
The complaints email address listed on their website returns messages as undeliverable, and I would have to pay a charge to my mobile company to opt out of their text spams.
Says it all really. - London2015Yep got one of these emails too. I was going to hit the spam button but then checked (on my phone) that the website did exist. I ended up replying but have subsequently reported as spam after having read the comments above - thanks for those!

So I didn't actually receive a call but the number was in the email which made me google it and here I am. I was suspicious of the email and would never, ever pay as part of job search but this practice needs to be stopped. I wonder if it could be reported to some governing body...
Good luck with all your job searches, clearly without the "Apollo" company...

- terig| 4 repliesI was sent an email from this Company (Alex Smith) followed up by texts. They are quite persistent. They made it sound as though they are a recruitment agency that specialize in senior level roles. They wanted to arrange a meeting. The email said the senior consultant (was told it was Martin Pearce) wanted to meet me in Birmingham (Brindley Place) if I was looking for my next mid to senior level role which they are experts in. I was suspicious as I could not find them on the internet as a recruitment agency. I was also suspicious because of the .eu email address. I am very pleased that I checked this website. I think it would be very easy to be tricked into meeting them thinking they are a real recruitment agency - one the potential recruit does not pay anything to. I did speak to someone and there was no mention of it being a service that would be paid for. They are far from transparent. Always check out Companies before you meet them by searching the internet and look on sites like Glass Door.

- DJThey did call me some time ago and I advised that I didn't want to go through them and they accepted that and actually left me alone for a couple of months, I guess they are testing the water now, wondering if I am desperate or not and sending me emails. There was an unsubscribe option on the email so hoping clicking that stops it.

I read many bad posts, but was intrigued so went to the meeting anyway. Sounded like an interesting concept and for the sake of an hour...
If you put your snap judgements aside for a few minutes and listen to these guys (or certainly the ones I have met) you may learn a thing or 2
After an hour and serious consideration, a second meeting, serious consideration I invested in the service.
If you earn £20K or even £50K pa you may not like the sound of it. Fair enough. I looked it as an investment. I have been a consultant for 25 years and having experienced fraud and theft, you dont push must past me. In my companies I have invested many tens of thousands on marketing over the years. So for me to invest a few £K on marketing myself - what the hell, why not. When you look at the cost over your career it is peanuts. If working with Apollo (same company - different brand depending on region/directorship I think) and they help make me marketable to get an extra £10K per annum Ill get my money back in the first couple / few months. That is one bloody good investment. If I already earn £8K per month, it isnt much of a dent.
After 5 meetings and a number of emails exchanged, I have learned a lot about myself, they have helped my rewrite my CV, cover letters, going next week for specialist interview coaching -not the personal type (I am OK with that)
but the new impersonal rubbish, they can help you beat the questions....
The next stage (after next week, they market me), not in your traditional agency style but they help by presenting me to agencies (not for a fee)
They are not recruitment agency staff, they are career coaches
If you have never tried it and have a bit of cash to invest, give it a whirl. I feel that I already have my moneys worth already and results showing already.
Dont knock it until you tried it.
I cannot vouch for them all, but the team (yes, not one shark) are working wonders and taking the pain out of my profile brushing up well.
Money well spent. And no I don't work for Apollo!
follow me on linkedin - spacemanmike (not updated my profile there yet!) and see if I get a new role!
Personally, they worked for me. You have all assumed that they are a bunch of sharks. The ones I met (near Cambridge) are certainly not, I have a skilled and enthusiastic team working for me building me up for sale ;-)
Mike - Need not fearApollo Leeds ( Chris Gough) contacted me by phone last week and an appointment was made. The impression I got was that I was going to meet an recruitment agent about a position available. Got there and was given a slick discussion about my career prospects. How I was under achieving pay wise and he could fix that. If anything too slick. Checked it on this and I will not be going any further as you guys just reflected my own fears.

- Dorothy SheehanI continue to receive frequent and unsolicited e-mail, text and phone calls from this outfit. I have had 2 calls and 1 text in just 3 working days. The texts do offer an `opt out' but lo and behold - to a chargeable premium text service. Pray tell me just when did I `opt in'.
Absolutely inappropriate that genuine job-seekers are hounded like this......................................and the less savvy will be hooked in to responding in the hope it relates to a genuine and `real' opportunity.
I have had no option other than to use their `post a CV' contact form - to post my displeasure and seek immediate removal from their `lists'- Caller: Apollo EU

- Martin Guerre| 1 replyHello
Like so many I have had emails and calls from Apollo. Its good to hear so much about the " hidden" job market, I now realise why my friends were driving fast cars, living in big houses and throwing money around, its down to the " hidden" job market that recruiters like this talk about like hidden treasure on an island frequented by pirates and only accessible with a treasure map, which they have! It is so odd that knowing three senior HR Directors and one global HR director they never spend much time talking about the " hidden" market. Maybe that's how they go their jobs, and are keeping it quiet.
Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt, with some flattery, promises and then the close ( asking for the money ) are all part of the process. You don't wan't to miss out on those "hidden" jobs do you?
Things to consider?
- Why are so few of the company on LinkedIn. This site has revolutionised job search and you would have thought that really connected people would be on there. Alex Smith? Not on LinkedIn
- Why does the initial meeting have to be face to face when large corporates for big jobs have run their first interview over the phone or even skype. No cooling off period if you are not at home.
Below are some company report details, they are taken from a company search, they should be accurate but in all things of this nature look for a second opinion, there maybe a typo and I don't want to be sued!
On paper, perhaps not doing as well as they used to, however this is on paper and the figures may not truly represent the business.
Group structure UK Apollo Group – Career Analysis Ltd, The Executive Partnership
Career Analysis has no followers on LinkedIn currently
Executive Partnership no followers on LinkedIn currently
Keith Taylor no connections on LinkedIn currently
The company is director is Keith Taylor with 7 current directorships either non trading or dissolved
Career Analysis Ltd, The Executive Partnership, MGMS, SGM R&R,Taylor Endfield, and UK Apollo Group listed as a consultant.
Nature of business: Management consultancy activities
Registered office phone number 08448806690
Previous names CareerWorld Ltd, Changing to Career World Ltd
Rated (2014) Good for credit with a credit limit of £500 dropping from £5,000 in Sept 2014
No CCJ,s
Full accounts not shown after 2008 which means it has to have two of three criteria : Less than 50 staff, turnover less than £6m or less than £3.26 M on the balance sheet.
In 2008 they had 23 employees with an average wage (mean average) of £41K, the director £143K. They turned over £2M with a gross profit of around £1.08M
In 2012/13 Trade debtors £208K, Current Assets £208K. Working capital of £1,746. Working capital ratio of current assets/current liabilities is around 1.25% which most consider to be sufficient.
Net worth, what is owed minus what is owned £11,240, not the market value of the company.
A gearing ration of 372%, a high proportion of debt to equity. This has moved up from 66.8% from the previous year and could indicate a company using debt to pay for continuing operations. The company had a minus gearing ratio until three years ago, which could indicate the company had net cash at hand up to that date.

- Martin Guerre replies to MikeHello there
Mike? It's great you have a positive view of this company and like you I am not phased by spending money, as my salary keeps me comfortable. Here are my issues
a) Any company using names of people who cannot be found on the electoral register or ( I know its not compulsory ) LinkedIn make me nervous. It's the 21st century and how anyone can find " hidden job markets" without being part of the social networking revolution that is LinkedIn, either makes me believe something is amiss or they are stuck in the mid 1990s. No one compels anyone to be on LinkedIn, but how are these people communicating back to all these hidden job markets, unless they know everyone all ready from the days of the fax machine and telephone?
b) Region and directorship for different names? The two companies under the Apollo umbrella are not trading, please check at companies house.
c) If they are indeed career coaches, say it up front and be up front about the fees. The approach is very " Kirby Cleaners" or "Tin Men" if you want a 1980s film reference.
I am sure there is much debate on whether they are sharks or not. If I meet sharks in the 21st century wearing suits, then I like them to have a name and a presence on the web to vouch for their credibility as sharks or on sharks. Maybe you could ask them why they have little ( named ) presence on the web, and if they are so good why is looking for them on LinkedIn, like finding an empty warehouse?
BTW I jumped the gun and tried to find you on LinkedIn but spaceman mike goes to someone in St Louis USA. I will say one thing controversial. If they were any good, they would have you updating your online presence immediately, optimising this for recruiters seaches.
I am not on there as Martin Guerre is obvious. I don't want to upset Apollo if they really do have access to all these "hidden" jobs!
Good luck with your job hunting I hope you get what you are looking for.
Martin - BobSame story as many others - received this e-mail to my company registered e-mail address (see below).
Actually GMail had put this in the Spam folders - so thankfully they are now identifying them as spam & hopefully helping others to see this as a scam.
I mailed them back and had a call from a lady (don't remember the name but think it was the same fake name used previously).
She talked about jobs & I asked if they had something specific (as genuine recruiters always do) and she said she wanted to meet to discuss so they could find appropriate opportunities.
I've encountered a few such companies so I flat out asked 'is this something you want to charge me a fee for' and her answer was no.
I've not had any further contact and hopefully I won't hear any further.
I'm so glad I found this web site so I could also report them for the con job they are - I will report them to Trading Standards also
Good luck to anyone else whose looking for work at the moment.
