I had a phone call today at 7.30am off 0121 2657000 acting as a police officer I asked for his name and he did not give it to me and started asking me questions about a threatening call this girl had recieved and said my number was used to do this!! I have called numerous police stations and reported this and none of them recognise this number!! This guy knew alot about me and when tied to call it back it was a dead tone.So now this number is being investigated!!

i dont know whas happend they called talking about police and i said that a im a police officer as well and he turn off.

Two calls at 5am(!!) this morning.

Who are they and what do they want!??  Some conflicting answers above........???

The number referred to multiple times within this post IS a West Midlands Police outbound number, it cannot accept calls to it they must go to the West Midlands Police switchboard (0845 113 5000).

I have posted here before but it appears people are still concerned. People that are calling you from this number may well be Police Officers as this is a Police number. If you are concerned then it may be an idea to take the collar number and name of the Officer speaking to you and check it with other sources, other than that I do not know what else to suggest to concerned posters.

This IS a police number.  However, if you are receiving unwanted calls from it please can you contact the police, with your phone number and name and ask them to remove your details from the VC Relay database.  You must also tell them the area that you are living in so that they know which Community Partnership Officer to contact. West Midlands Police switchboard number 0845 113 5000.

I had a call from the same number and through a bit of digging have found out it is a police number and anyone who gets a call from this number can call West Midlands Police on 0845 113 5000.  In my case they were looking for someone else but that said it is a real number.  I have logged the call with my local Police Station.

i had a call today off the same number and im not sure wether it was a police officer or not because they did not talk like 1 and they knew my mobil number n my first name and that was about it o and the insident that occured but they did not sound anythin like a cop

i also recieved a call from the 01212 number, and they were ringing constantly between 03.38 - 04.05, leaving me about 20 missed calls, it did wake me up but there was no way i was answering it!

had a call today from this number. guy sed he was PC POTTS. he sed i wasnt in any trouble but i had been harrasing my ex girlfriend. i dnt see how because i changed my mobile number last week. this number contacted my house phone. my ex is ovbiously pissed off that she cannot get in touch with me no more. funny thing is that her dads married to a copper... the guy sed he was from Smethwick police station.

i recieved a call from this number pretending to be an police officer but he did not sound like one and the weird part is he knew my full name WTF and no one knows my full name but he knew alot about me does any one know wha da hell is going on who are these people and how to they know this much about us?

Same i had 2missed calls off them it it a police station sum1 hu in a cell and wants to get hold of you .. when i tryed phonein bak it said wrong number :/ x

This number is outbound only, if you call it you will not get through.

It is so that West Midlands Police can call phones that reject withheld numbers as the number is withheld by default.

They want to sell their services and trade thier wears turning up on the door to spout the neighbourhood spying trade then ring up unsolicited which is cop ( read cold) calling.

Isnt thier a law against that ?

i have been in touch with my local police over a incident and asked for them not to withhold their number when they call me. this is the number that shows up when any officer calls me when it is routed through westmidlands police. its only for outbound identification froma central switchboard and in my opinion not fake or scam.

i had a miss call off unknown then seconds after that i had a call off 01212657000 i didnt answer. but if these are supposed to be police then why are they calling me when i dont even live up there? aint they supposed to refure it to the nearst police centre to where you actually live?
