Orange customer, got the call from this lot about 5 minutes ago.  Just wanted to say THANK YOU for everyone's comments, helping me not call them back! Will now be reporting the number to the police, for all the good it'll do.

Had this number call my mobile yesterday saying i was due a refund from ppl, they needed the card details to refund the money into. i was out shopping so could not hear her. i asked her to call me back which she did but i decided not to answer. why would anyone give their bank details out over the phone?

Just had them try me (but I missed it), stupidly called back before Googling the number, soon as I heard the recorded message hung up.

Never give out details guys unless its your wife, then at least you know who to blame when you get your statements and you have been fleeced....

Got a call from TPL, asked them to call back later, had asked for bank details so they could refund me of moneys owing from ppl. Dodgy!

This number called - I didn't answer as it was unlisted on my phone book. so looked up the number on google and led me to this website to report the problem.  I never call back these sort of numbers.

Got the same type of call asking  for card details over the phone

Received a call asking for same sort of details as others have mentioned here (e.g name, address, bank details etc). At being asked for 'the long number across the bank card' I informed the caller that information is not required in order to refund money into my account - rather all that is needed is the sort code and account number - which enables someone/a company to put money into you account but NOT withdraw it. The caller informed that was the information that was required in order to be put through to the legal team and the relevant paperwork to be sent to me. I am pretty sure I would not take out Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) as I typically decline such offers so alarm bells rung and I did not give out any further information. I informed the caller they should be able to tell me some infotmation on me (i.e when the PPI insurance was taken out on my account, what date I month I supposedly pay/paid it on etc - anything to show they were genuine as in!) Nothing was given other than directing me to a 'government website' (www.companieshouse.gov.uk) and giving me their company number: 07092379 which would then show they were a 'legitamate' company 'Telepsales People Limited' (aka TPL). I still thought this was dodgy as it showed on the site date of incorporation of the company as 01/12/2009 (so clearly v.new and time to scarper after dodgy goings on!).

Please notify your bank if you have given them any details and your phone provider. Tut tut to such behaviour taking place!

This is a great resource and has quickly answered my query about why this number called me today at 18:18 and promply hung up when I answered. Sods.

I am also a Orange mobile customer;  definately a link here.  I have read all the concerns of others being ripped off by TPL.  I too was miss sold this product on 25th January 2010, again around lunch time.  TPL having set up this company very recently. They must have scammed their hit list from Orange and got to work.  I knew never to give out my personal bank details but, like an idiot they picked on me at a vulnerable time and cleverly got the information from me.  I am now £59.99 worse off.  I  am in the process of reporting to Blackpool Trading Standards and I think i will include Orange also.  

Please anyone being called by this company report them.  Lets get them out of the business of ripping people off!

I had a missed call form this no today so they are still opering the scam.

I had a missed call from this number on 12- 01-2010.  I rang it back and got an incoherent reply, so I hung up.  Glad there have been no further consequences.  Don't know how they got my Orange mobile number.

Tried to call me within the last half hour. I don't answer to numbers I don't know... if their not in my phone book then I'm not answering. I just reject calls to my answer phone to screen them. If there sinceer they'll leave a message !

got a call today from this number and i stupidly gave away my bank details and my addess!! i have no cancelled my bank card, pleasedo not answer to this number or give away any details.

I had a call from this number a few weeks ago for claiming back unfair credit charges.  i had missed the call and so called it back - they don't identify you by name, just your telephone number so i gave them that and they took me off their system.

Just recieved a call from this number. The guy stated it was for me to reclaim overpaid premiums on a PPI policy. He asked me which PPI plans I had so I said "if I am due a refund you should be able to tell me the plans". I went on to say this was just another scamming call at which he hung up. BEWARE, you have been warned!
