Got a call today (15 Jan 2009), didn't get to the 'phone in time. Dialled 1471, the number was 01268 557600. Tried to ring it back, number isn't recognised.

good old whiteword enterprises of pitsea. have started the free holiday scam again  bless em. when will they learn ?

Have had three calls so far from this number and ignored them.  I googled the number and found out they are nuisance time share calls.  Will continue to ignore them.

On Jan 2nd at Bristol Airport I was given a form to complete in order to win a holiday. I honestly thought it was a competion run by the airport. I was called this morning to tell me that I had won a holiday to the value of £5000 and to ring 08009889904 to claim the prize and leave my address for the information to be sent on. A rather loud, course sounding woman answered the phone and asked if my husband and I were aged between 50 and 62, which we are not, when I told her this, she told me that we did not therefore qualify for the prize and hung up!!! Seems like we had a narrow escape!! I shall be contacting Bristol airport to warn them of this scam taking place in their building.

Just called my mobile, its been ringing for days as a withheld number which i never answer. Actually came up this morning 01268 557600 and said i had filled a survey in, in the town a few weeks back. I told her no i never do that which i don't. I listened to the usual crap for a bit as she was adamant she knew certain things about me which was true. Offered  a holiday abroad. Told her that i never fill surveys in but I know I did one on line over a year ago and they called then. She called at 10am and she said the offer closes by 11am this morning so I must ring this number immediately. Rang a bell so to speak and told her that about a year ago I heard the same rubbish and I am not interested. Call ended probably have another year of peace!

I had a call from this shower this afternoon. The caller was a very insistant woman with an annoying voice. I asked her just how much this "free holiday" was going to cost me. Airport tax plus this, plus that, plus something else...you know its a scam then. As long as they waste their money on calling my mobile, all the best to them. Its more worrying that they can actually trap people into thinking its something genuine though.

keep getting calls from this number to begin with i tried to ring back but the number isn't recognised. Don't know if this helps but last week i booked tickets online with ryanair for friends.  Thanks for all the above info will ignore all future calls

Thanks to this website and everyone's previous comments I've now stayed clear of these people. Like some other posters we filled out a survey at Faro airport. Initially when the girl called I had a flashback to filling the form in and was pretty pleased but then quickly started to smell a rat, especially after they tell you you have to pay a 'booking fee' of 29 quid, plus you had to call another number to claim the prize. I will be interested to see if they call again when I don't 'claim'! I'm annoyed with myself for almost falling for it!

This number has been calling my mobile all morning.  I havn't answered, now finding this site I am glad I didnt.  I have just sent them a text telling them to not bother me again. I would like to know how they got hold of my mobile number.

they keep calling me from that number 3 to 4 times at the morning since yesterday and im at work so i dont have time to answer it , but now after what saw here i willnot answer ....

Frequently receive calls from this number.  Usually advising of my success in winning a holiday but they grow very irate when I tell them I am all 'holidayed out'!  
Most recently called at 745pm on 22nd Jan and when I answered they hung up.

Just had a miss call (thanks to my poorly son), and thanks to this site i will not be answering the call when they ring back, unless i blow a very loud whistle down it lol (call from 01268557600)

i answered the call and they asked me if i was me and i said yes the line went quiet so i hung up and phoned the number back and there was no such number. strange i say

this number called tonight.  the call was answered by my daughter.  No-one spoke on the other end just heavy breathing.  This frightened her and she quickly put the phone down.  Tried ringing them back to complain but number was not recognised!

experiences as above, want me to go to hotel to pick up vouchers wont be going !

Getting on this thread a little late, but I've been called by this number several times of late. This is purely speculative, so may well be incorrect, but I used to work for a company that cold called people on behalf of various charities but wasn't part of any charity itself. As such, it may be that this is just a 'for hire' call centre which works for various businesses, hence various company names from the same number. At the place I worked you couldn't take incoming calls which may explain the unobtainable number. So don't be too hard on the operators, they're only doing their job...

That said, you should always stick way clear of anyone offering a 'free' holiday - at best you'll have to attend a day of slick sales types trying to get you to buy a time share, at worst, you'll be fleeced for £££.

As for giving your number to anyone - even 'innocent' researchers. Don't, otherwise you'll just get more and more of these calls.

I have had a missed call from this number this morning and i want to know what it is ... had a look... now i'm not bothered. If it calls me again i will keep you informed
