Hahahahahaha a good sales person could sell anything. Also why is there were plenty of people that could sell his product? I'm guessing the people on here were the [***] sales people? Yes thought so.

If you run a business and were paying people to hit targets but they didn`t wouldn`t you be mad? Steve was paying your wages remember. If you didn`t like him then you should have left sooner. Its funny how only the people that never hit targets come on here moaning about the bloke. You all thought you were great sales people, told Fred in your interviews how great you were but then sold sod all. Maybe you should all go and get a admin job because you obviously couldn`t sell.

Funny how people say they "could`ve" sold loads but didn`t. Yes Steve was evil but he was hardly ever at work and if you decided to sit at your desk doing nothing and not earling any money then more fool you. Or could it be that your just a rubbish sales person!!

I don't know why people didn't like working for a guy who had cocaine addidiction and came to the office in a foul mood and swore all day whilst stinking of booooze and generally doing nothing that was constructive and being aggressive to his managers.

Can't believe how peeps can come on here and defend Steve Jakes! What about the way he told his manager at Colchester to move house from london to Colchester so he did and 6 days later Steve closed the Colchester offices under the cover of darkness. He got max and Casey the recruitment guys that he'd later try and launch a recruitment biz with to go to Colchester telling staff their computers were being upgraded overnight. They took the computers out, shut the offices and drove back to brentwood leaving a note on the door at Colchester stating the offices were closed and they'd been made redundant....

Steve never spoke to the Colchester manager again and just avoided his telephone calls and didn't pay him either. Meanwhile he had relocated his family to Colchester for Steve Jakes.

You might want to get your facts right on this. The staff at Colchester were told by myself and Max that the offices were being closed. It wasn`t a nice thing for us to have to do but a note wasn`t left on the door to say the staff had been made redundant. They were told to their face by me and Max when they finished their last shift.
Also Tony was not told to move to Colchester. Steve didn`t care where people lived as long as they got to work on time. In fact when me and Max closed the Colchester office there were certain members of the sales team that Steve asked me to ask if they would come and work at the Brentwood office. They were the good sales people that he wanted to keep. Before people come on here writing things I stronly suggest you have your facts right.

What about staff who were on holiday then Casey?
You didn't tell them did you?
And they turned up to work to find a notice on the door.
And when they tried to get paid they were told to F off.
Wasn't long ago you were slating Steve now you stand up for him?

I have never slated Steve, had no reason to slate him. If people were on holiday then me and Max couldn`t tell them to their face could we. People weren`t paid because the company went in to liquidation, there was no money to them. They all received a letter stating this. The reason Colchester had to close was because most of the sales people were [***] and couldn`t sell. Steve wanted to close the Colchester office months before it was actually closed but he hoped things would turn around. Most of the sales people in Colchester didn`t even cover their basic salary each month and a business can only survive so long when that happens. Maybe if people had turned up for work more often and were as good as they said they were then the office would still be open.

Maybe if Jakes had not spent so much money on illegal drugs and abusing alcohol he could have paid his staff. Absolutely disgusting way to treat employees, some of whom desperately needed that money to survive. Sooner or later he will have a big fall.

Its not only Steve who is responsiable for paying the staff. No-one was employed by steve directly you were all employed by the company therefor the company was responsiable for paying your wages. It cost Steve a lot of money personally to put the companies in liquidation so that staff could claim there outstanding wages through the liquidators.
I know this wasnt ideal and was a lengthy process but i didnt see any of the other Directors puting there hands in there pockets to pay for the liquidations they got there money plus some and ran..

Its not about feeling sorry for him. Yes he spoke to people like s**t and thought he was better than everyone else.
But when it all went tits up and the other directors took there money and jumped ship it was Steve who was left to do the best he could for everyone who was now going to be unemployed. Did any of the other directors care if you was going to get paid.

I left the week after the locks were changed on the offices as we couldn't get into the Regis offices because of unpaid bills and Steve later fell out with Robert who was going to help him sort things out.. I can honestly say it was awful place to work coz of the way Steve spoke about people and to people. Unless you witnessed it you can't imagine how bad it all was. Brads doing a similar biz nod but has about 70 odd staff and they love working there!
