This number called today.  I asked where they got my number and why I was being targeted.  No real answer other than they wanted to know about facilities in theis area.  I told them i had to answer my work mobile and kept them on the line for 30 minutes.  The girl who I kept waiting told me I was rude.  Brilliant maybe they will think before calling me next time.

called me tonight at 8:30pm but i ignored it like i do any number i don't recognise.  however, mori is a legitimate company and crries out alot of very important research without which many public bodies would be unaware of public opinion !
therefore if you don't want to talk to them just don't answer the phone or tell them you don't want to take part (although i was amused by the guy who kept them on the line for half an hour !!!) !
Although i do detest it when people won't leave messages !

I went on their website and made the nastiness complaint letter/email to them and now I am off their calling list. I put the name Ipsos MORI in google, followed it to their webpage and like i said, hit contact us and complained. And havent had another call. Maybe you all want to do that?

"While it is true to say that research companies are exempt from the TPS because they are not selling anything, they are not exempt from the law on harassment.  If they ring you more than once, you should report it to the police and to the ICO. If they are leaned on by the police, they will stop making such a nuisance of themselves."

So what are we going to do? Call 999 and ask for Police, stating that we've had more than one call from a market research company? It's all very well saying report it to the police, but how? Maybe stop a bobby in the street? Write a letter to Scotland Yard perhaps? I think they've got more important things to deal with than market research calls.

Do people really think they're "getting one over" on these companies by keeping them on the line for half an hour? Who do you think is calling you? The managing director of Mori? No, it's a "couldn't care less" contact centre agent. He didn't leave school aspiring to be a contact centre agent, in the same way that I'm sure very few people leave school aspiring to be a supermarket shelf stacker or a toilet cleaner. It's a job that pays bills. He gets paid exactly the same amount of money whether he's on the phone to you for 30 minutes or 30 seconds. So what I'm saying is, if you don't want to be bothered by these companies, just don't answer their calls. It's no skin off their nose if you keep them on the phone for ages, so why try to be clever when all you're really being is stupid.

5 calls in the past week! I don't appreciate this harassment for the sake of a stupid survey!

I find telling the caller that I charge £150 per hour (1 hour minimum) consultancy fees and they will need to provide an invoice address before we can continue, soon gets rid of them. If you also ask for an address to send your contract to helps.

In my view, any survey by definition, ends up with biased information:
Those who choose to participate have their own perspective on things which they feel by sharing will make the world a better place. Those who don't, often have the view it is absolutely no ones business what they think or feel.
The two groups are likely to be polarized in different ways.
By asking for a survey and being rebuffed they are denied a balanced view.

I don't know why they would argue that statisically equal numbers of people on the TPS and off the TPS will happilly take a survey - I don't believe that fact.

I have just had yet another call (after politely telling them I don't receive cold calls of any kind only a few days back). Again I say I don't receive cold calls, have they checked the TPS. They start to argue it is not a cold call it is a survey call. So the call ends with me telling the cow to "f*** off" x2, she threatens me with the Police and I have broken the law. Unfortunatley she had to hang up on me.

    A) Mori should train their staff not to argue or to pick an arguement
    B) The TPS should have an option for no calls, marketing, sales, or whatever
    C) Mori staff should not be surprised with hostile reactions when they ring a TPS registered number - hazard of the job
    D) Mori should also automatically remove the number from their list at the time of the call if it is obvious you don't do cold calls. They are harrassing and that's breaking the law isn't it? Unfortunately their policy is that you have to write to them to tell them after the event.

Pretty pathetic really, that valuable modern technology is abused so they can make money.

Personally I will continue to be a rude as possible if I am cold called more than once by any organisation.

0131 301 2940 calling 2/3 times a day 7days a week for a few weeks now, glad i found this site, so at least i know who it now.

Although i do fine it aggravating, to the extent i could explode, chasing my phone all day, bear a thought for the Government's figures for unemployment, at an all time high aren't they, maybe we should, put up and shut up for a while?

I am currently unemployed the last 3months due to downturn. I am very busy trying to set up a new business venture with my own money. The call above came just when I didn't want it (programming in C, you need a clear train of thought - no disturbance).

I don't want to subsidise unemployment with call centres like these. I would prefer the potential employees had more aspiration in life than to work for them.

I have just been on the website for this company and there is an e-mail address to write to with your number and you can request to be removed from their lists. telephone@ipsos-mori.com This seems to be the way forward. no more calls.

They called this morning on behalf of Royal Bank of Scotland... I said the person they wanted to speak to's line was engaged, and would they like to hold? They stayed on hold for 15minutes solid!

I suggest we all start doing this for nuisance calls... pretend to be interested, then put them on hold so they work up a much bigger phone bill.

I am sick and tired of this and other numbers calling.  I found the most successful way of barring unwanted callers is when you next buy a phone, make sure it has a "Bar" facility.  My new Panasonic has been amazing - you get the call once and then you bar it from calling you again at the touch of button - absolute bliss.

Call 2/3 times a day spoke to someone who told me that the call was very important. I told them to remove my number. They said that they don't have a list but she would say I was not interested. Hopefully I won't receive any more calls these companies seem to be a law to themselves.
