KW - Interview with National Legal Assistance replies to K W| 6 repliesJust got back from an interview with National Legal Assistance at Newark, they wanted me to be a sales consultant, going to the homes of pre-aranged appointments made over the phone.
I thought something didn't seem quite right, probably from the tacky office building they were renting out and the chavy (but hot) looking girls who were doing the cold calling.
Anyway so I decided to dig a little deeper into them and found this site, after reading all this, I'm definately going to pass up the job, even though I'm desperate from employment :( Last thing I want is to be ripping people off.
The interview felt more like they were trying to sell themselves to me, rather than the other way around, telling me little about the company, and just about the "products" that they sell. Though to be fair I didn't ask much about the company. The bloke that interviewed me seemed decent, the kind of bloke you'd go for a pint with. He didn't seem very "professional" though. He knew the services that N.L.A were selling inside out, not convinced he had any legal expertise mind.
I can't say for sure if National Legal Assistance are dodgy, but I got that impression when I was there, and after reading this I'm even more sure, so I'll give this one a miss.
Even more of a shame because some the "cold calling" girls looked slammin hot!!
So just so everyone knows, I'm giving up not only much needed employment, but also the chance to hit on a load of slammin' hotties, for the sake of not ripping off vulnerable pensioners! - P.M replies to K W| 1 replyMy elderly uncle was targeted by these rogues at the beginning of the year he tried to cancel the contract with no luck, he ended up losing £1995. And I have given up trying to get the money back after being told by Trading Standards the only way would be to take them to the small claims court. Anyway just to let you know he was visited by Matthew Appleyard, and we live as far away as in Plymouth.
- K W replies to Interview with National Legal Assistance| 5 replies'Interview with National Legal Assistance' Thankyou for your comments. It would be appreciated if you could put on this thread the name of the gentleman that interviewed you, so that other candidates can be forewarned.
This signifies the importance of doing some research on a gut feeling and we're pleased to hear that you have standards and wouldn't dream of ripping off the Elderly and Vulnerable unlike the aforementioned.
If you don't want to put the name on here, please feel free to e-mail us on wewillgivefreeadvice@hotmail.co.uk and your identity will not be compromised.
Thankyou for reading.
KW - Interview with National Legal Assistance replies to K W| 4 repliesUnfortunately I did not catch his name *facepalm*. There was a woman who interviewed me before him though, again i forgot her name. She determined i was too intelligent to work on the phones and so offered me to speak with the bloke about becoming a sales consultant. Though I wouldn't have been comfortable with giving their names out any way. They were both middle aged, so probably have family etc, so I don't think it would have been right.
That said if there is any wrong doing in N.L.A, which I'm sure there is, then I hope all people who are knowingly participating in this scam are dealt with by the authorities, and everyone is compensated the money. - K W replies to P.M'P.M' Thankyou for your comments. Have you or your uncle contacted the Police? Your local Police station may not be able to help, but if you contact the Gainsborough Police (where this company is based) they may be able to assist you. Their phone number is 01427 810910. It is important that we don't ignore any claim against the aforementioned as it is vital to the inquires to build up a complete picture from all aspects for the investigation into bringing these scammers to justice.
Also you could report it to Consumer Direct on https://secure.consumerdirect.gov.uk/reportascam.aspx as your uncle has not received the products that he has purchased.
If your uncle takes everything to the CAB, they will direct him to a free legal advice service in your area that will look at the paperwork and verify what he has actually received and that way he has got a case and it is important not to give up as £1995 is a substantial amount of money to lose.

KW - K W replies to Interview with National Legal Assistance| 3 replies'Interview with National Legal Assistance' Thankyou for your comments. We are working very closely with the Local Authorities and all information is crutial to the investigation as this scam has been going on for over 10 years and someone has to bring it to an end.
We appreciate that they may indeed have familes and therefore if you could e-mail us privately (wewillgivefreeadvice@hotmail.co.uk) and together with your help we may then be able to assist with the identity of the people who interviewed you and all that will be required from you is varification then this can be forwarded to the Authorities.

KW - Deepthroat replies to K W| 2 repliesRecordings with a second person in the room of your choice.
Also speakerphone on a conference call within the house who knows you are recording their phone.
Bad luck if one of these people call whilst you are recording someone else who knows they are being recorded.
Intercom will do.
It all adds to the pile. - Deepthroat replies to Deepthroat| 1 replyLet me correct slightly, that, if you are on a conference call and allow them in to it whilst the second party is notified then there is no problem.
Kind of academic now but would make good listening:) - Deepthroat replies to DeepthroatEqually if they come round your house whilst you are recording something that is notified to mthe person you have informed is being recorded, then just vbad luck for them.
They are external noise interfence. - Deepthroat| 1 replySorry, there is no edit but "mthe" == other.
- Carole replies to gen1985| 1 replyNot true that all clients have received what they paid for. I paid £450 at the beginning of February and heard nothing. When I chased them up later I was told that the sole director had died and the Company had ceased trading. I was given the details of a company who had taken over the work, but this was NOT true. The papers have all been passed to The Society of Will Writers, who will need more money to do the work already paid for. Trading Standards are looking into the situation.
- K W replies to DeepthroatDeepthroat Thankyou for your comments and the sound advice, sound being the operative word.

KW - K W replies to CaroleCarole Thankyou for your comments. By now you've probably read the complete forum and realised this is a big scam.
http://www.google.co.uk/search?sourceid=ie7&q ... IF4-7hAet_8XYDw This link will show some examples of Gerald Malcolm Barton's behaviour within Will Writing Companies and he was the man behind Minster Legal Services (UK) Ltd where you purchased your products.
Have you contacted the Police? It is important to keep building the case against them, Gainsborough Police (who are one of the Authorities dealing with this matter) can be contacted on 01427 810910 and you can also contact Consumer Direct on https://secure.consumerdirect.gov.uk/reportascam.aspx which may also help with the case against these Scam Artists and advise you accordingly, depending on the method in which you used to pay, on how to get your money back.
