PEOPLE BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!! if you want medical advice you go to a qualified medical practitioner, if you want your car fixed properly you go to a reputable car mechanic with qualifications, if you want an electrician /plumber you make sure they're registered with the body that regulates these people and not just someone who talks a good talk
So when you want a Will or similar services why go to some company or organisation like the ones mentioned or even The Society of Will Writers who claim to be non profit making but rip everyone off!
They are all the same.

I was sorry to read you had been ripped off by Minster Legal Services.  I also paid this company £1995 in January of this year and have only found out today what has been going on.  I paid by Credit Card so i notified the card company today and am in the process of making a claim

WW Thankyou for your comments, it is a sad fact that they will stoop sooooo low, that slugs have  nothing on them!!  these people will not stop!  so we the public have to do that, so it is important that we keep this going? according to the press they have in the past stole 14million.
If they have been running Minster Legal Services for 2 years they are probably looking at 2million already.

To all the staff who say they dont know what is happening within the companies that they work for, read the links and the many comments from upset readers.

These things are factual, if you continue to work for them after readig these items then you are worse than them because you are the one's opening all the doors for them to get to the consumers.

Message to clients

SAGA LEGAL SERVICES/MINSTER LEGAL SERVICES

We wish to warn clients about the activities of these unregulated Will writers who have been trading on the reputation of the Saga Group (which provides services for the over 50’s) and which have been targeting elderly people with unsolicited personal calls persuading them to sign up to various legal services and obtaining substantial payments in advance. We have personal experience of this because one of our own clients in the area was unfortunately persuaded by one of their smart and well-trained salesmen to part with a cheque for £4,500.00. Her instructions had been cancelled but they have failed to return the monies. They have informed us that the sole proprietor has died and that the activities of Saga Legal Services have been transferred to Minster Legal Services, which operates from the same address.

The Saga Group has informed us that they have received information that over 50 individuals have been misled or duped into handing over money. They have reported the matter to the police and Lincolnshire Trading Standards. They instructed their own solicitors to write a “cease and desist” letter and they strongly suggest that our client insist that the police prosecute the people involved.

When David Hodgson director of Minster Legal Services died the company "ceased to exist" (their words) and the company then became Saga Legal Services since then the company has again changed its name and is now called National Legal Assistance. However the original company Minster Legal Services has registered again (still with the same Company Number 07222505) at Companies House with a new director, Gerald Malcolm Barton and working from a different address.  This appears to be the same guy who was disqualified from being a director in another will writing company for 11 years by the insolvency service.

We were scammed and have referred our case to the Legal Services Ombudsman and Trading Standards.  We have been assured that Lincolnshire Trading Standards will do all they can but we doubt we will ever end up with wills etc that are legal or a refund and we are interested to read your comment about insisting that the police prosecute the people involved.  How do we do this?  Would it be Lincolnshire Police or our local Police.  Any help gratefully accepted!  These villains have got to be stopped.

Oops!!! Thank you for your comments, and the warnings!! we are astounded by the amount of money that your client has lost, we stated earlier that it would be in the region of 2 million pounds that they have scammed from people, but we have since been informed that we are probably looking more like 3 million,and thats just from Minster Legal Services, we estimate that they see about 200 clients a week so if there are several companies doing this you can imagine how much the fat cats are taking home, I wonder if the secretaries take home as much as them, if they are not then they should be asking for one as they will get the same prison sentence.

We advise anyone with information to go directly to the Police.

VH Thank you for your comments it seems that Minster Legal Services ceased the company for a short period, just so they could tell clients that there was nothing that they could do to get their money back, or get their work completed.

But I suppose someone has to keep the name on the company details if they are to reap the benefits of the deceased, as Gerald Malcolm Barton is probably the beneficary on the wills.

Just like the David Nash case last year in Lincoln. An associate of Gerald Malcolm Barton, no doubt?

Gainsborough Police would probably be the best place to report it as it is their area.

I'm a solicitor down in Southampton with a couple of clients that have been scammed by Minster Law. I've been following this thread with interest for the last couple of weeks.
One of the things that I had found out previously was that David Hodgson, who was a director of Minster Law (UK) Ltd, shared his name with a solicitor in Gainsborough who was subject to an order made by the Solicitors' Disciplinary Tribunal in September 2010 for breach of the Solicitors' Accounts Rules. He practised from Mercury House as well.
One of the contributions implies that Mr Hodgson has passed away, so, if that is correct, my condolences go to his family.
I have spoken to Lincolnshire Trading Standards who are well aware of what is going on. They said to me that any customers of Minster Legal Services should contact Consumer Direct on 0845 404 0506 and log their details.

I am writing on behalf of a Minster Legal Services client.

Mr P  received a call to say his house was due to be reprocessed, he also received literature in the post. A consultant from Minster posed as someone working with the council and said he would help this client by giving him free advice on what can be done. Of course no one wants their home reprocessed so  a veery worried Mr P arranged to meet The Minster consultant stratightaway.

When The MLS Consultant called to the house, the first thing he did was to take the literature off Mr P because the consultant knew this material was illegal and prove MLS were now posing as council offices.

Mr P was then told he would be charged £300 + VAT this would help him save his home.  Mr P was actually charged £3000.00 +VAT!!! They took his card details and put in the amount that suited them.

Mr P has never had an explaination for this or a refund!

Yes, you are quite right. There are too many Minsters going around. David Hodgson was a director of  Minster Legal Services, which is the trading name of Minster Legal Services (UK) Ltd, company number 07222505. Apologies.
