Received a call from this no, caller said they were ringing from my credit card company and said they wanted to check my details before proceeding with the call...so I asked them how I knew they said they were who they said they were. Anyway I ended the call.  I then 1471'd the no, rang it, and it rang out no reply.

I rang my credit card co, who confirmed they had not rang me, and they did not recognise the  number, she said she tried to ring it, and it was a "discontinued line".

If you ring it today, you get a respondex voice message.

I have received 3 calls from this number on 4 and 5 March 2010. I never answered but rang back to which a recorded message said it was a call from Respondes?? and that if I did not want to continue receiving calls I should insert my telepone number. Needless to say I just hung up instead... wondering whether to report the number to Orange!!!!!

God you ppl could you be any dumber if you read all the coments that have been posted on here you will realise that Respondez is a OUTSOURCE callcentre that your credit card company has employed 2 call you guys on their behalf, so when you call your cc company 2 see if they have rung you do you really think the fat cats at the top will actually tell the customer service department you speak 2 everything that goes on with the company. As mentioned in an earlier post herd mentality, imo just stupid ppl. Also from what ive read the information the require is for data protection , info that is widely available on the internet ie (electroll roll).

I've had several missed calls off this number over the past 5 days, im always at work when they ring though, otherwise i'd have answered.

They do seem to call at random times though, ranging from lunchtime all the way throught to 8pm at night.

After reading all your comments, it would make sense for them to ring me.  However, I'm not interested, so i've blocked the number on my phone.
    • Caller: Respondes (most probably on behalf of cc company in my case)

I got a call on this number, and after reading the thread called Respondez who confirmed it is them.  They are a hub for call centres, and they have people from Aqua Credit Card Services working there; they are trying to sell credit card fraud insurance.  A bit necky of them really, as I'm currently going through legal proceedings against Aqua for mis-selling me PPI!

Not a scam, but must admit it appears as such until you do some digging.  I called their main office and removed all my numbers from their database.  Simples.  Now I'll be ringing Aqua and asking them why they felt the need to try and sell me more insurance I don't flippin' need!

Even if it is legit I am most certainly not interested in buying from a company who cold calls, especially late evening and keeps it ringing for almost 5 minutes when I am trying to get my children off to sleep. That is intrusive, unprofessional, nuisance calling, and I would not be interested in buying off a Company like that on principle.
Also, why should I take the time to call them to get my number taken off!!! My number is X-directory and I never agree to it being given to 3rd parties.
p.s. I work in a call centre, so I do know how it works and I am not surprised that so many people thought it was a scam if it was conducted in such an underhand manner.

Point 1: If its a call from a company you deal with ie, your credit card its not a cold call.
Point 2: Ofcom regulations state that cut off points for out-bound calling is 8pm which surely means its not considered "Late evening".
Point 3: If its a nuisance receiving the calls then answer the phone and ask for them to stop calling...
Point 4: Why would your number being ex-directory stop a company from calling you if you supplied them with your number for contact?
Point 5: If you work in a contact centre then surely you would know all of these points already?

    Answer to:
Point 1: It isnt a call from a company I deal with.
Point 2. My 2 and 4 year old children are in bed before 8.00pm, as most young children are, so I consider that late evening. I didnt say it wasnt covered under regulations, I was merely stating that it is not a time that I consider is appropriate for cold calling.
Point 3. Again, why should I put myself out for a nuisance caller.
Point 4. What I actually said was I always ask for my number NOT to be given to 3rd parties, so if a company I havent dealt with calls me, I obviously havent supplied them with my number.
Point 5. has been answered by Points 1 - 4

I have had a couple of calls from these people. They said they were a company called "Respondez", working on behalf of my credit card company. They asked me to identify myself and I said "You called me - if that's not enough, go away". They said "Fair enough" and went away.
I called my credit card company and they agreed that Respondes was doing market research on their behalf so I had a go at them for not sending out prior notices of this.
I called them back on their office phone but you can writr to them or email them. To be honest, I am now wondering about the veracity of earlier entries on this forum.

This is very good to know! I have also been receiving calls from this number, and on the same day, from 01429 264313; I'm presuming they're related as there are internet records of both as nuisance callers.
